August 2020 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Welcome to our August Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is ...  "WING IT!" - make a card that incorporates any type of wings. This could be a bird, butterfly, bee, fairy, airplane or add wings to something else - the sky's the limit!

Last month for our July Designer Challenge, Karen Burniston shared a tutorial on creating a side fold Slimline Card using the Circle Tag Pop-up die set. I had been thinking about a side fold slimline, doubling one of the pivot panels die sets, so when I saw this idea I knew I would have to make one of these. You can find Karen's tutorial on how to create this card here

For my card I used the Circle Tag Pop-up die set to create the pop-up portion of the card using Karen's tutorial.

To decorate my card I used the new Backyard Charms & Gnome and Santa die sets. The Background Charms includes a fairy image and butterfly, both of which have wings.

I die cut the fairies using glitter cardstock, reversing the fairy for the one of the right hand side of the card.

I used the "Happy" and "Day" sentiments from Word Set 12 - Anniversary die set to add the sentiment to the circles on the left hand side of the card.

The circles were die cut using the Crosshatch - Circles die set.

Here is a close up view of the right hand side of my card. I left the white circle blank on this side to allow a place for a handwritten greeting.

Here is a side view of the pop-up panel on the inside of the card so you can see all the various layers on the card.

I kept the front of the card fairly simple, since the focus in on the inside of the card. I created a small scene using the Crosshatch - Ovals  and Backyard Charms die sets.

I created the "Fairy Wishes" sentiment, using word dies from the Word Set 1 - Greetings and Word Set 2 - Birthday die sets.

I also added two borders using border dies from the Border Blends - Argyle die set.

Hello From The Garden

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month, it's time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is ME!

According to the Days of the Year web site, April is Garden Month. So for our challenge this week be inspired by a Garden .... flowers, plants, trees, insects, garden shed, etc. Anything that you might find in a garden is good for this challenge.

Today I am sharing a Circle Tag Book Pop-up card I created using dies from Karen Burniston (KB Riley LLC).

The "Hello" sentiment on the front of my card is from the Word Set 1 - Greetings die set.

To decorate my card, I used dies from the Garden Charms die set, the "from the garden" sentiment is also included in this die set.

Here is a closer look at the left hand side of my card. On the two circles on this side, I added the flower pot, plant and gardening gloves.

And finally a close up of the right hand side of my card. On this side I added the "from the garden" sentiment and the gardening tools.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Welcome Spring Circle Tag Book Pop-up

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a "Spring" themed card with you all. Where I live it is now officially autumn as we have just finished summer. However for those of you who live in the Northern Hemisphere, you will be welcoming Spring  soon which is my favorite time of year.

For my card today I created a Circle Tag Book Pop-up using the die set from Karen Burniston.

To decorate my card I used stamps from Riley and Company. The Riley image is one of the Riley images included in the Basic Dress Up Riley Red Rubber stamp set. All the other stamps including those to dress Riley are from the Dress Up Riley - Spring Showers Clear Stamp set.

Along the bottom edge of the front of the Circle Tag Book Pop-up I used the border die from the Natures Edges die set to create the grass.

For the inside of my Circle Tag Book Pop-up Card, I added more of the images from the Dress Up Riley - Spring Showers Clear stamp set.

Here is a close up photo of the left side of my Circle Tag Book Pop-up Card.

And finally, a close up view of the right hand side of my Circle Tag Book Pop-up Card.

Cheer Up!

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Karen Ostergard our challenge hostess for the month, finishes off her month with one last challenge.

For our challenge this week, Karen has asked us to use ribbon somewhere in our projects.

There was a time some years back, when nearly every card I made had ribbon somewhere on the card ... when adding ribbon to a card was popular. These days I seldom add it, so when I was trying to figure out what to do for this challenge ... I decided the easiest way to add ribbon to something was by adding it to a tag card.

So for my card today I have created a Circle Tag Pop-up Card using Karen Burniston's Circle Tag Pop-up die set.

To decorate my card, I pulled out some stamps from Craftin' Desert Diva's that I had purchased when they had their closing down sale. I had put the stamps away for Christmas, so can finally start using them. The cute critters are from the Stormy Weather stamp set and the sentiment from the Rainy Days stamp set.

I used some fun rainbow paper from a paper pad from Sunny Studio Stamps.

Here is a close up view of the right hand side of my card.

For the front of my card I created a scene using the base of the tag for the sky. I used the sand/snow border from the Nature Edges die set for the grass. I then added a few more of the images from the Stormy Weather stamp set. The puddle comes from the Rainy Days stamp set.

While I was looking through my ribbon stash, I found some rainbow ribbon which was just perfect to use for this card to coordinate with all the rainbows on the card already.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

January 2020 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Welcome to our January Karen Burniston Designer Challenge, our first challenge for the year.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is .... "HEARTS" - incorporate hearts into a card of any theme.

For my card today I decided to combine some of the new dies released in November last year with a few of the older dies. I created a Tag Book using the Circle Tag Pop-up die set and the Heart Pivot Panels die set.

I die cut the hearts included in the Heart Pivot Panels die set from Gold Glitter, Red and White Pearlescent Cardstock and alternated adhering them to the Heart Pivot Panel die cut.

I used the lips from the Love Charms die set which I added to the gold glitter hearts.

I die cut the "Hugs & Kisses" from Word Set 9 - Love from red cardstock, trimmed them apart and added them to the top and bottom portion of the heart pivot panel.

I also die cut the "XOXO" from the same set from gold glitter cardstock, cut this into two and added it to the top left and bottom right of the inside of my card.

Here is an overhead view of my card, so you can see the folds in the Heart Pivot Panels a little better.

For the front of my card, I used the Happy Valentine's Day die set and die cut the sentiment three times, once from gold glitter cardstock and twice from red cardstock. I layered these together off setting the gold glitter sentiment slightly over the red. I layered this to my card using ovals from the Crosshatch - Ovals die set.

I added the "Love You" and "Be Mine" Hearts from the Love Charms set to either side of the oval.

Don't forget to visit Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

Cheers

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Maryann Einam our challenge hostess for the month finishes off the month with one last challenge.

According to the days of the year calendar it is wine day, create a card with this in mind.

For my card today I pulled out my MFT Stamps Wine Glass Shaker Window Die-namics to create a shaker card. I added two different shades of red sequins into the shaker pouch.

I added the "Cheers" sentiment die cut to the bottom of the glasses, die cutting it three times from gold cardstock and layering the die cuts together.

To finish off the front of the card I added some Clear Acrylic Heart embellishments.

For the inside of my card I used Karen Burniston's Circle Tag Book Pop-up to add a pop-up feature to the inside of my card.

I added two more of the wine glasses to either side of the card.

On the circle panels I added the "Cheers To You" sentiment from the Ranger Letter It Birthday Die Set.

I also added a wine bottle and glass which is from Karen Burniston's Wine Charms die set.

The two wine themed sentiments I added on this side of the card are from the Art Impressions Wine Tasters stamp set.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Hope Your Day Is Amazing

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Lynn McAuley our challenge hostess for the month, continues to host the challenges.

April is the National Month of Hope. Create a card with a sentiment of encouragement and send it to a friend who is in need a spark of love and hope in their lives. Sometimes the smallest gesture can light that spark!

For my card today I pulled out some stamps/dies from Altenew. The flowers used on this card come from the Climbing Clematis Stamp set. I arranged my flowers onto ovals using Karen Burniston's Crosshatch Ovals die set.

The 'hope' sentiment is die cut using the coordinating die set for the "Hope" stamp/die set.

I created a tag book using the Circle Tag Book Pop-up die set from Karen Burniston.

I added more of the Climbing Clematis flowers, to the end circles of my tag book.

For the two centre circle panels I added a sentiment.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:
