Fan-tastic!

PWC169 AsianSophiabox wm

Hi everyone,

It’s time for another Pretties Wednesday Challenge over on the Paper Pretties Blog. This week the challenge is to create anything but a card.

While I was thinking about what to do for this challenge I came across a fun box made using the Sizzix mini milk carton die, by cutting out 2 boxes and joining them. While searching on how to create this box I discovered another blog that showed instructions on how to create another box which was similar but had legs on it which gave the box an Asian look.

As I have tons of Asian style papers & Paper Pretties has Sophia dressed in a Kimono called Fan-tastic I just had to use this image and create this box. I found the tutorial for this on Kerry’s KB Papercraft blog if you want to find out how it is done.

How to Enter: If you would like to play along with us, all you have to do is create a card/project using the above challenge and upload it to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword PWC169.

Don’t forget to include a link to your card on the Paper Pretties Blog, so everyone can see it too. You don’t have to use Paper Pretties stamps to play, but of course if you have them we would love to see you use them. One random participant will receive a Paper Pretties Stamps set … see the Paper Pretties Blog for more details.

Stamps: Fan-tastic Digi Stamp – Paper Pretties
Paper: White; Red; Gold; DP
Other: Black Ink; Gold Ribbon; Sizzix Mini Milk Carton Die; Sizzlits Tag Die; Foam Tape; Copics

Who’s Your Mummy?

MFT-Who'sYourMummy-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s that time again when the MFT Stamps designs team begins showing our MFTeasers in preparation of the new stamps which will be released by MFT Stamps after the release party this coming Tuesday 6th September.

Today the Design Team are featuring the WTG Who’s That Mummy stamp set which is being released.

Also being released next Tuesday are 9 new Die-namics …. I am so excited about the new Die-namics they are amazing. I have used 4 of the new die-namics on my card  today as well as 3 previously released die-namics … yes that is 7 die-namics in total on this card! I think one of my favorite die-namics being release this month is is the Die-namics Woodgrain fence … expect to see this on many of my teasers in the coming week! But really you are going to love them all!

Here are is the list of Die-namics I used on my card:

Oh btw my notebook edge and fresh cut grass die-namic pieces may look a little different, that is because I used the negative pieces from both these dies for my card today. It might also be hard to see the Die-namics First Class Friend on my card. It is layered behind the main image, you can see a peek of purple at the top and bottom of the image.

Creative Chat … MFT Die-namics!

MFT Die-namics card wm

Hi everyone,

MFT has come up with a new monthly feature and we think it's something you'll really enjoy. The My Favorite Things Design Team Creative Chat is a new monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative spaces and share valuable organizational methods, tools, and shopping strategies with you. You'll be able to peek into our creative spaces, ask questions, and share your own ideas in the MFT forum. This month, we were asked the following questions:
  • How do you store and organize your Die-namics?
  • Any fun or helpful Die-namics purchasing strategies you'd like to share?
  • How do you store extra Die-namics die-cuts?

Visit Kim's Blog for a full list of designers that have taken up the challenge and get ready to delve into the minds of our creative team!

Let’s start with the first question …. How do you store and organise your Die-namics? I love my Die-namic dies they are one of my most used tools I use when I am creating so I like too keep them handy. When MFT first started releasing these I just stored them on a clear box on my desk, but after a month or two it became apparent that I had to find a new way of storing my die-namic dies.

MFT DIe-namics wm

It just so happened that I had recently been doing some cleaning out of one of my cupboards and came across this Photo Album which my mother had given to me for my 25th Wedding Anniversary … now my DH and I will be celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary this December so this poor thing had been sitting unused for at least 13 years! That is a silver frame on the outside and because it is a solid frame it is able to stand like that one my desk within easy reach when I want to use any of my die-namic dies.

In the centre of the silver frame is a space to place a photo, which I must confess until this challenge has been blank! I have been wanting to do something to decorate this space ever since I started using it for my die-namics, but you know how it is …. other things take over and you just don’t get around to it. That is one reason I like challenges, they make you do things whether it is something you have been meaning to do/try or something completely new!

You can see what I made to decorate my folder a little better in the top photo, I used a number of die-namics on this piece which include Die-namics Pretty Pocket Die & Stamp Set; Die-namics Bracket Tab; Die-namics Butterflies; Die-namics Simply Scallops Medium; Die-namics Upsy-Daisy.

MFT Die-namics2 wm

The pockets inside the album fit a standard photo so this is ideal for the majority of my die-namic dies.

MFT Die-namics3 wm

I use a sheet of magnet which I cut to fit inside each pocket, this helps keep my Die-namics in order and not having them moving all over the place.

MFT Die-namic5 wm

For the Die-namics that are sets … eg: The Doily Dies; Doily Duos & Borders that match I place them in a pocket together without the magnet sheet. This way I know exactly where the dies are that match each other without having to search for them.

Any fun or helpful Die-namics purchasing strategies you'd like to share?

As I said earlier in this blog post, I love my die-namics so I have to have them all, and NOW! So if you see one you must have during MFTeaser week, make sure you get in early to order like when the release becomes available. Some of the most popular ones go early, but have no fear MFT keep restocking them as soon as they can! If one of the die-namics you are after is out of stock, make sure you are subscribed to the MFT newsletter &/or MFT on Facebook as that is where you will be notified when dies are back in stock.

MFT Die-namics4 wm

One thing I do like to do when I receive my new dies is to write the name of the die-namic on the back of it, so I know what it is called.

How do you store extra Die-namics die-cuts?

To be honest I don’t really bother too much about storing too many of the Die-namic die-cuts. At one stage I was saving them in a box, but I found that the colors I wanted weren’t necessarily the colors I needed for the next project. As my youngest daughter is a Kindergarten Teacher I now save them in a plastic zip lock bag and she takes them in for the kids to use and they LOVE them!

MFT Die-namics4 wm

I do keep some of my extra die-namic die-cuts especially if I have cut them from felt or in colors I know I can use for any project. That brings us back to my photo album I use to store my die-namics! The inside cover has a door so you can put in your photo, when there is still some space once you have done that to store a few extras. I did do a little clean up before I took my photos (and some I used on my cover I created for this blog post). But I kept all my white clouds in both card and felt and my also my clouds I use if I want to create a cloudy sky using the die-namic dies and my copic airbrush which can be another fun way to use your die-namic dies.

Well that is about it from me today, I hope you enjoyed my take on how I store my die-namic dies. It works for me which is what is important. I will be back tomorrow with the start of the MFTeasers for September!

A Male Card!

C4C102 Golf wm

Hi everyone,

It’s time for another challenge with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. It’s has been my turn to host the challenges this month and this is my final one for August.

As it’s Father’s Day Down Under next Sunday, our challenge this week is to create Male themed cards. They don’t have to be Father’s Day related.

A couple of months ago while I was working at a Papercrafts show I found a stamp set that contained this cricketer. I probably have mentioned it before but cricket themed stamps are hard to get and as Cricket is a very popular sport in Australia I had to buy the set. I decided to color my cricketer so he looked like he was playing for the Australian International team, I used Google so I could check I was using the right colors in the right places.

C4C102 Golf2 wm

Here is the inside of my card, I used the sentiment which is also from that stamp set.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Stamps: Pastimes – Do Crafts Papermania
Paper: White; Black; Origin DP – Basic Grey

Come They Told Me!

CCEE1134 Gold wm

Hi all!

It’s challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This month our hostess Charlene Merrick,  has been surfing the net for some interesting facts http://funfactz.com. Each week, she has been giving us an interesting fact and an operative word that must be used for the inspiration of your design.

INTERESTING FACT: "The streets of Victor, Colorado, once a gold rush town, are paved with low-grade gold."
  OPERATIVE WORD: Gold

For my card today I decided to use Flourishes Drummer Boy stamp set, this one has been on my wish list for a while now Smile. I used gold card for all my layers as well as adding gold brads to the to the top right hand side of my card and the centre of my poinsettia flower. I also used a gold pen to color in the base of the drummer boy and the brad on his uniform.

CCEE1134 Gold2 wm

Here is the inside of my card. I stamped the other Drummer Boy from the set onto my card and also another of the sentiments from the set.

Fun In The Sun!

Riley1711 Fun In Sun wm

Hi everyone!

It’s challenge time again over on the Riley and Company blog. This week our hostess for the challenge is Jovita Torres who has challenged us to summer theme/fun in the sun!

I wanted to play with a few of the new Vacation Theme stamps that released at the end of July, so I had to do a bit of creative thinking LOL. Now I know the Mount Moosemore image is supposed to be mountains, but I decided to use them in my beach scene I created on my card. I am thinking those amazing sand sculpture that people do sometimes! Maybe that is what Seaside Sophie created before she decided to move onto a simpler sandcastle LOL!  I also added Zip Line Riley, just for fun, he is waving down to Sophie.

Don’t forget to check out the rest of the Design Teams blogs today so see what they created for this challenge.
