Merry Christmas

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month it's time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is me!!!!!

STAR – Stars decorate our Christmas Trees and also helped show where Jesus was laying in his Manger all those many years ago. So for our challenge this week we are using the word ‘STAR’ – incorporate something starting with each of the letters in the word.

Here are a few suggestions to help you, but of course you are not limited to these ... Use your imagination!

S = Santa; Sleigh; Stockings; Star; Snowman; Snowflakes; Snow; Sage; Saffron; Sapphire; Scarlet; Sepia; Silver; Square

T = Tree; Toy; Train; Tiger; Teddy; Teacher; Turkey; Triangle; Teal; Taupe; Turquoise

A = Arrow; Apple; Animals; Aqua; Apricot; Amber; Angel

R = Red; Reindeer; Rabbit; Rainbow; Rain; Rose; Ring; Rug; Round; Rectangle

For my card today I have created another Window Card using the Lorna Label Pop Up die set. Karen Burniston shared how to create this style of card early in November. You can see Karen's video for this tutorial here.

To decorate my card I used the Snowman Peel Off Stickers which includes the snowman and all the Trees included in the set. I also used the snow border from the Outdoor Edges die set to create the snow on the bottom of my card.

I used the following to use the letters of the word STAR when I created my card ...
S = Snowman; Snow; Snowflakes; Sleigh
T = Trees
A = Angel (on front of card)
R = Red

Here is another look at the front of my card when it is fully closed.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Merry Christmas

Hi everyone,

Today I have a tutorial on how to create the Christmas card above using products from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

For the background of this card I used three different widths of Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape and Silk Microfine Glitter.

Here's how I created my card:

1. Cut a piece of white card slightly larger than what you want the finished background to be. For my card I cut it 4 1/2 inches x 6 inches.
  • Adhere a strip of 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape diagonally across the white card which is approximately 4 1/4 inches on the long edge and 3 inches on the short edge.
  • Place a strip of 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the left side of the first strip of tape.
  • Place a strip of 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape next to the 6mm tape.
  • Continue alternating the different widths of tape until the left side is completely covered.

  • Next place a strip of 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape diagonally across the opposite direction of the card so that one end of the tape butts up to the adhesive tape already on the card.
  • Continue adding the various widths of Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on either side of the adhesive tape until it is completely covered.

2. Remove the release sheet from one strip of adhesive tape on the card and then every other fifth strip on the card. Cover the adhesive with True Red Silk Microfine Glitter. Remove excess glitter and return to the jar, polish the glitter into the card using  fingers.
  • Remove the release sheet from the strips of adhesive tape to the left of the red glittered strips. Cover the adhesive with Forest Green Silk Microfine Glitter.  Remove excess glitter and return to the jar, polish the glitter into the card using  fingers.
  • Remove the release sheet from the strips of adhesive tape to the right of the red glittered strips. Cover the adhesive with Go to Green Silk Microfine Glitter.  Remove excess glitter and return to the jar, polish the glitter into the card using  fingers.
  • Remove the release sheet from the strips of adhesive tape to the left of the Go To Green glittered strips. Cover the adhesive with Bright Cranberry Silk Microfine Glitter.  Remove excess glitter and return to the jar, polish the glitter into the card using  fingers.
  • Remove the remaining release sheet from adhesive tape. Cover the adhesive with Sea Glass Silk Microfine Glitter. Remove excess glitter and return to jar. Polish the glitter into the card using your fingers.

3. Cut down the card so it measures 5 inches x 3 3/4 inches, ensuring that you remove any rough glittered edges from the card.
  • Using Black Assorted Borders Peel Off Stickers, randomly add these lines to the card wherever you see white space in the card or whatever looks pleasing to you.

4. Cut a piece of red card that measures 5 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches. Score the card at 4 1/4 inches and fold in half.
  • Cut a piece of green card that measures 5 1/4 inches x 4 inches.  Layer to the front of the folded red card.
  • Adhesive the glittered background piece we created in the above steps to the front of the green card.

5. Cut a piece of white card and a piece of Clear Double Sided Tape Sheet that are approx 3 1/2inches square. Remove the release sheet from one side of the tape sheet and set it aside upside down on your desk (shiny side up). Adhere the Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the piece of white card.
  •  From the Winter Birds Circles Peel-Off Stickers remove one of the Bird in Circle. Place your Peel Off Sticker sticky side up onto the release sheet that we set aside earlier.
  • Take your white card and place it with the adhesive side facing down onto the release sheet with the Peel-Offs on it. The Peel-Offs will lift from the release sheet and stick to the adhesive on the card stock.
  • Turn your card so the release sheet is now on top. Take off the release sheet making sure not to touch the images on the adhesive.
  • Cover the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and polish the glitter into the card with your finger. You can see a video Els created using this technique here
  • Color your image as desired.
  • Color the edge of the Peel Off Sticker with a black marker.
  • Counting from the smallest die in the Dotted Scallop Circles die set. Die cut the fourth circle from green card.
  • Counting from the smallest die in the Stitched Circles die set. Die cut the fourth circle from red card.
  • Layer the Peel Off Sticker piece to the scallop circle and then to the stitched circle.
  • Adhere to the left side of the card using foam tape.
6. Using the "Merry Christmas" sentiment from the Holiday Sentiments Clear Stamp set. Stamp the sentiment in red ink onto white card.
  • Die cut the sentiment using the smallest label from the Anita Labels Pop Up die set.
  • Die cut the middle label from green cardstock and layer the white sentiment label to the green label.
  • Attach to the top right hand corner of the card.

7. Cut a piece of white cardstock that measures 5 inches x 3 3/4 inches.

  • Roughly trim around the negative Bird in Circle Peel Off Sticker which remains. Peel off any excess black peel-off sticker that may be around your image until you just have the image as per photo above.
  • Cut a piece of Transfer Sheet large enough to fit over the Negative Peel Off Sticker.
  • Remove the protective backing and place the tacky side of the Transfer Sheet onto the negative shapes. Burnish with a bone folder or your fingers and carefully lift the Transfer Sheet checking to ensure that all of the pieces lift at once. You can see Els’ video using this technique HERE
  • Now move the Transfer Sheet with negative shapes attached to it over to the bottom left hand corner of the white card. When it is in the right spot, place it down onto the card and rub the front of the Transfer Sheet to release the pieces onto the card.
  •  Carefully lift the Transfer Sheet to check and make sure all of the negative image pieces are now on the card. (Don’t remove the Transfer sheet until all pieces are in place).
8. Using the "Christmas Greetings" sentiment from the Winter Sentiment Clear Stamp set, stamp the sentiment using red ink to the top right hand corner of the card.
  • Cut a piece of green cardstock that measures 5 1/4 inches x 4 inches. Layer the white panel to the green panel and adhere to the inside of the card.
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.

90th Slider Card

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing another birthday card that I have created for my mother's 90th birthday which happens later this week. This one I made for one of my daughters to give to her.

On Monday Raquel Mason shared a card she created for the Hats Pop It Ups Designer Challenge where she used the main die from the Ring Accordion Card die set to create a slider card. Of course when I say her card I thought it was a fantastic idea ... who doesn't like finding more ways to use products that we already own.  Of course I had to make one too!

Instead of using the Ring Accordion, I decided to use the Circle Accordion to create my slider card.

To decorate my card I used two of the gifts from the Gifts Peel Off Stickers set. I attached the stickers to adhesive tape and added Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and then colored the images with copic markers.

I added the number "90" to the centre of the circle which also has glitter on it.

Here is an animation of the slider in action. Of course each gift only slides in it's own track either the top or bottom track.

For the inside of the card I used the Anita Frames Pop Up die set to create a pop up card. I added the negative of two of the gifts left over from the Gifts Peel Off Stickers.

Cherries

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month it is  time to introduce our new hostess which is Maryann Einam.

Maryann asks us "Who can resist fresh fruit when it is in season" for Maryann she loves strawberries. So for our challenge this week we were to add our favorite fruit to our card.

My favorite fruit has to be cherries, which should be hitting the shelves down here in Australia any time now! These days we are lucky enough to be able to purchase cherries when they are in season down here in Australia and we also get them available in stores when they are in season in California! Yum!!!!!

For my card I pulled out the Hanging Charm Pull Tab die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I used the Stage It Stencil Cherries Layering to create the background of the card, love how easy it is to create those cherries on a card.

To decorate my card I used the Cherries Peel Off Stickers from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I adhered Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the front of a piece of white card and then placed the peel off stickers onto the adhesive and covered the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. I then colored the glitter using Copic markers.

The "pull" on the top of the pull tab is from the Steampunk Clear Stamps also designed by Karen Burniston.

With this style of card you have the option of either adhering the card to a folded card or keeping it flat and adding the sentiment panel on the back. I like to keep mine flat so that whoever receives the card knows to display the card flat.

On the left hand side of the card I added more stencilled cherries. I added two sentiments from the General Sentiments Clear Stamp set and a couple of spare cherries from the Peel Off Sticker sheet.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Pinwheel Glittered Card

Hi everyone,

It's my turn to post a tutorial on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today. Elizabeth Craft Designs  recently released 21 new colors of Silk Microfine Glitter which are now added to my collection.

One of the things I remember Els telling me when I first met her about 2 1/2 years ago was to keep the protective backing with the adhesive sheets when you use them as these pieces can come in handy when doing some glitter techniques. My project today shows how to make use of these saved up pieces of adhesive sheets and uses a couple of the new glitter colors.

Here's how I created my card:

1. Cut a piece of Perfect Purple Soft Finish Cardstock which is 4 1/4 inches x 11 inches. Score along the 11 inch side at 5 1/2 inches and fold.
  • Cut a piece of Rich Black Soft Finish Cardstock which is 4 inches x 5 1/4 inches. Layer this panel onto the folded purple card.
2. Cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the front of the card so it measures approx 4 1/4 inches x 5 1/2 inches. (save the protective backing you remove from the adhesive as we will need that for this technique)

  • Use the saved protective backing sheets and die cut the middle die from the Beaded Circle Frames die set five times.
  • Before removing the protective backing from the adhesive covered card we created above, lay out the circles on top of the card to work out the layout. (Tip - use your phone or tablet to take a photo so you remember the layout)
  • Remove the protective backing from the adhesive covered card being careful not to touch the adhesive. Carefully place the die cut beaded circles protective backing die cuts as per your layout design. (Tip -  if you are in need to handle the adhesive card, place a piece of scrap protective backing paper onto the adhesive and use that to handle rather than touching the adhesive which will leave finger prints once glitter is added.)
  • Position the inner circle which comes when you die cut the Beaded Circle Frames back inside the beaded circles frames on the adhesive. (Tip - for easier placement into the beaded circle frames, look for the notches that line up with the three beads that are close together on the circle).
  • Place another large piece of protective backing paper over the adhesive covered card and rub all over with fingers or a bone folder to ensure that the frames and inner circles are secured done well.
  • Remove the large protective backing from adhesive covered card.

3. Working over a coffee filter, cover the large area of adhesive with Violet Silk Microfine Glitter. Shake off excess and return to the jar. Use your finger to polish the glitter into the adhesive sheet.
  • Carefully remove the Beaded Circle Frames backing paper pieces from the adhesive and cover this area with Black Silk Microfine Glitter. Shake off excess and return to the jar. Use your finger to polish the black glitter areas.
  • Finally remove the inner circle protective backing paper pieces and from the adhesive and cover this area with Lavender Ice Silk Microfine Glitter. Shake off excess and return to the jar. Use you finger to polish the Lavender Ice Glitter.
  • Trim down the card so it measures 3 3/4 inches x 5 inches and layer onto the folded card created in step 1.
4. Apply Purple/Silver Glitter Dots Peel Off Stickers to all the beaded parts of the circles.

5. Using the pinwheel die from the Pinwheel die set, die cut three pinwheels from designer paper.
  • Assemble pinwheels using a brad to keep pinwheel closed. Cover the head of the pinwheel with a large Purple/Silver Glitter Dots Peel Off Stickers.
  • Attach the pinwheels to the centre of the circles as per photo above.

6. The Inside of the Card:
  • Apply a strips of Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape along the bottom of the card in the following widths: 10mm; 3mm; 10mm and 3mm.
  • Remove the protective backing from the 3mm strips and cover with Black Silk Microfine Glitter. Polish black glitter with fingers.
  • Remove the protective backing with the bottom 10mm strip and cover with Violet Silk Microfine Glitter. Polish violet glitter with fingers.
  • Remove the protective backing with the top 10mm strip and cover with Lavender Ice Silk Microfine Glitter. Polish violet glitter with fingers.
7. Die cut the middle die from the Beaded Circle Frames die set from Rich Black and Perfect Purple Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.
  • Adhere the purple inner circle to the centre of the inside of the card and then adhere the black beaded circle frame around the edge.
  • Stamp the sentiment "Happy Birthday" from the General Sentiments Clear Stamps to the centre of the circle using black ink.
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.

Hoot Hoot Hooray!

Hi everyone,

Recently while I was trying to find homes in my new desk/drawers for all the stuff I had packed up so my new desk could be built, I discover the white panel layered to the black card with the washi tape attached. At the same time I found some kraft scalloped edged folded cards, so I set these on the top of my desk as I figured I could decorate this with something.

I recently decorated a new tool holder I purchased using Lots of Owls Peel Off Stickers from Elizabeth Craft Designs. You can see that project here.  While creating that project I knew I would have a number of negative image owl images left over from the peel off sticker sheet, so decided to use a couple of those owls to decorate this card.

To use the negative images left over when you used a sticker from a Peel Off Sticker sheet you need to do the following:

  • Roughly trim around the negative image which remains on your peel off sticker sheet. Peel off any excess black peel-off sticker that may be around your image until you just have the image as per photo above.
  • Cut a piece of Transfer Sheet large enough to fit over the Building Blocks. Remove the protective backing and place the tacky side of the Transfer Sheet onto the negative shapes. Burnish with a bone folder or your fingers and carefully lift the Transfer Sheet checking to ensure that all of the pieces lift at once. You can see Els’ video using this technique HERE.
  • Now move the Transfer Sheet with negative shapes attached to it over to the card. When it is in the right spot, place it down onto the card and rub the front of the Transfer Sheet to release the pieces onto the card. Carefully lift the Transfer Sheet to check and make sure all of the negative image pieces are now on the card. (Don’t remove the Transfer sheet until all pieces are in place).

Here is the inside of my card, as you can see I added another owl negative image and added a sentiment.

Owl Tool Holder

Hi everyone,

Over the last few weeks my wonderful husband has been busy renovating my stamping area, I now have a brand new desk and cupboards etc, which I will share with you in a few weeks when it is completely finished.

Anyway since I had a new desk I figured I needed something a little better to hold some of the tools that I use often. While visiting IKEA recently, I found this white pot in the garden area which I thought would be ideal once I had added a few repositionable stickers to it.

I created my repositionable stickers using Elizabeth Craft Designs Peel Off Stickers; Transfer Tape; Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape and Silk Microfine Glitter. You can see a video tutorial Els created this technique here.

Here is how I created my repositionable stickers:

1. Cut a piece of Double Sided Adhesive sheet the same size as the transfer sheet. Remove the release sheet from one side of the adhesive and set aside upside down on your desk (shiny side up). Adhere your Double Sided Adhesive sheet to the front of the transfer sheet (the clear side).

2. Remove 4 Owls and 4 small hearts from the Lots of OwlsPeel-Off Stickers. Place these sticky side up onto the release sheet that we set aside earlier.

3. Take your adhesive transfer sheet and place it with the adhesive side facing down onto the release sheet with the Peel-Offs on it. The Peel-Offs will lift from the release sheet and stick to the adhesive on the transfer sheet.

4. Cover the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and polish with your finger.  Color your images as desired. Cut out all of the Owls and hearts, remove the release sheet from the back of the transfer sheet and place the owls & hearts on the item you wish to decorate, in  my case the white pot.

Here are a few more photos of my owl tool holder I created. This will be the front of the tool holder. I decided to color my hearts blue as that is my favorite color.

I could have just created the one image and put it on the front, but I thought it would be fun to add a few more owls (you can never have too many owls!!!!) so that which ever angle I place the tool holder I am likely to see at least one owl.

Another view of my tool holder this time the back.

And  one last photo. The fun thing about this type of project is that the stickers are now respositionable so if at anytime I want to change the images or move what I have used on this project somewhere else I can do.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.

Happy Fox

Hi everyone,

It's my turn to post a project on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today. For my card today I wanted to play with some of the fun patterned papers that Elizabeth Craft Designs has recently released in the Through the Lens patterned paper packs. Today I am focusing on the Metal series to create a birthday card for a male.

Here's how I created my card:

1. The Card Base -

  • Cut a piece of patterned paper from the Through the Lens Metal series paper pack that is 5 inches x 3 3/4 inches.
  • Cut a piece of Rust Soft Finish Cardstock that is 5 1/4 inches x 4 inches.
  • Cut a piece of Mustard Soft Finish Cardstock that is 11 inches x 4 1/4 inches. Score along the 11 inch side at 5 1/2 inches and fold.
  • Layer pieces together as per photo above.

2. Counting from the small centre die, die cut one of the third rectangles from the Stitched Rectangles die set using the patterned paper from the Through the Lens Metal Series Patterned Paper Pack.
  • Counting from the small centre die, die cut one of the third rectangles from the Fitted Rectangles die set from Rust Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Layer pieces together.
3. Attach the rectangle panel on the right hand side of the card base as per photo above.

4. Die cut the smallest oval from the Stitched Ovals die set from White Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Counting from the small centre die, die cut the second oval from the Fitted Ovals die set.
  • Layer both ovals together and adhere to the left sided of card using foam tape.

5.  Creating the Peel-Off Sticker images:

a. Before reading the instructions below, you can see a video Els created using this technique here.

b. Place a sheet of Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive onto cardstock that is big enough for your peel-offs and remove the release sheet.

c. Be careful not to touch the adhesive or it will leave fingerprints in the glitter.

d. From the Foxy Peel-Offs, place the Sitting Fox and Sleeping Fox onto the release sheet (sticky side up).

e. Place the cardstock that has Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive, sticky side down, on top of the peel-offs (In other words, place sticky onto sticky.)

f. Use release sheet in handling the cardstock until you cover the adhesive with glitter so you don’t leave fingerprints on the exposed adhesive.

g. Cover the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter, polish glitter with your finger and brush off the excess.

h. Color your images as desired using alcohol-based markers on the glitter.

i. Cut around all peel-off pieces.

j. Color white edges with a black permanent marker to give a more finished look.

k. Attach the sitting fox to the white oval on card.

* Coloring Tips for alcohol-based markers and glitter: Remember that when using alcohol-based markers, such as Copics, work quickly and don’t let the tip of the marker linger on the glittered surface. Too much alcohol ink can dissolve the adhesive and remove the glitter. It takes very little ink to color the surface of the glittered image so work with a light touch. To get the blended look, lay a line of color down along one edge of the section you want to color and then use your Blender pen to pull the color across the rest of the image. You may have to lay more color down to get deeper shading after you blend it out.

6.  Attach Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the back of Rich Black Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut 3 "happy" using the A Way with Words Happy Birthday 2 die set.
  • Layer all the "happy" sentiments together and attach to card as per photo above.

7. Adhere the sleeping fox to the lower left hand side of card as per photo above.

8. Attach Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the back of Rich Black Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut  "birthday" using the A Way with Words Happy Birthday 2 die set.

  • Attach the "birthday" sentiment to the left hand side of  card as per photo above.
9.   Die cut the smallest oval from the Stitched Rectangles die set using the patterned paper from the Through the Lens Metal Series Patterned Paper Pack.
  • Counting from the small centre die, die cut one of the second rectangles from the Fitted Rectangles die set from Rust Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Layer pieces together and attach to the right hand side of card.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.
