Thinking of You

Hi Crafty Friends and Happy Easter!

Today I am sharing two cards I created recently using the Distress Oxide Water Painting technique that Jennifer McGuire shared on her blog last month. You can see her blog post here

For my cards, I used W Plus 9's Beautiful Bouquet Clear Stamp set which I stamped onto my white cardstock using VersaMark ink and then embossed using white embossing powder.

I covered the entire piece of cardstock using Candied Apple & Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide inks. I then used a water brush pen to remove the ink from the flower petals and leaves, dabbing the area after applying the water.

Once I had removed the color from the flowers I using the water brush pen to apply color in a watercolor fashion using Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink to the flower areas and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink to the leaves.

For the sentiment I used the "Thinking of You" sentiment from Concord & 9th's Fabulous Phrases die set.

To finish off the front of the card I added White Nuvo Crystal Drops.

For the inside of the card I added one of the sentiments from the Dahlia Turnabout stamp set also by Concord and 9th and stamped a portion of the flower that was stamped on the front of the card in one corner using red ink.

Supplies:

Stamps: Beautiful Bouquets - W Plus 9; Dahlia Turnabout - Concord & 9th
Paper: White; Black
Dies: Fabulous Phrases - Concord & 9th
Other: VersaMark Ink; Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide; Candied Apple Distress Oxide; Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide; Twisted Citron Distress Oxide; White Embossing Powder; Nuvo White Crystal Drops

Wishing You the Happiest Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Now that Christmas is over, I am back creating something other than Christmas cards. As much as I enjoy creating Christmas cards, I am happy that I can finally start getting back to normal everyday cards. I have a number of new stamps/dies etc that I purchased back at the beginning of November that I have been wanting to play with but I was too busy with the Christmas cards. Of course I now also have Christmas gifts to play with too now :)

Sometime around the end of October or beginning of November, Jennifer McGuire shared an idea of stamping two cards at once by placing a floral image so that it stamped both cards at once and you stamped on all four corners. I have been wanting to play with idea ever since and purchased this W Plus 9 stamp set specifically to use with this idea. You can see Jennifer's blog post here

After stamping the flowers on all four corners using black ink, I colored the flowers using copic markers.

I added a sentiment to the centre of the card. I also added Nuvo Drops randomly around the card.

The card is mounted to a top folding card using fun foam.

I changed the colors for my second card, so they would both be a little different.

For the inside of the card, I added another birthday sentiment and then stamped the floral image used on the front of the card over the sentiment in the color of the flowers on the front of the card.

Stamps: Beautiful Bouquets Dahlias - W Plus 9; Sending Wishes - Simon Says Stamp; Sprinkles and Smiles - Penny Black
Paper: White; Black
Other: Black Ink; VersaMark Ink; White Embossing Powder; Sweet Lilac Nuvo Crystal Drops; English Mustard Nuvo Crystal Drops; Fun Foam; Copics

Wishing You

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is Tammy Hershberger.

Today Tammy's baby girl turns 20! In addition to turning 20, Kelsey will also be graduating from Vet Tech school later this month, and They are so proud of her!  In honor of Kelsey today, please create a card with animals in your design.

I recently received this cute WPlus9 stamp set called Forest Friends from a friend for Christmas, I later discovered that there was another coordinating stamp set that you could get to add extra things to you card. So of course I had to order it and as it arrived just in time to make my card for this challenge of course I had to use it.

As you can see I made a Pop Up Card using the pop up dies from the Pop It Ups Hot Air Balloon with Pop Up and Pop It Ups Barrel Basket with Pop Up die sets designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I used my Scan N Cut to cut out all the different elements.

Here is another look at the inside of my card so you can see the pop up panels a little easier.

As the focus of the card is the inside, I kept the front of my card fairly simple. Using the Happy Birthday die and added two more bears from the stamp set.

You Are Amazing

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Our challenge hostess for the month Rebecca Ednie, continues to issue the challenges.

This week, lets get brave and try a new technique. Apply any type of paint, embossing or modeling paste or liquid medium (like gel medium or gesso) through a stencil and while you medium is still wet, apply some glitter! Using a wet medium has the happy side effect off keeping more of your lovely glitter in place and far less of it where you don't want it! Try white on white for a lovely tone-on-tone effect or jazz it up with more than one colour of glitter. Use this as a focal or as a background. I can't wait to see your creations!

For my card today I decided to create a Pop Up Card. I used the Pop Up die from the Hot Air Balloons die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I love that some of the new dies released earlier this year come with optional Pop Up dies which are perfect to pop up your other images/dies you have in your collection.

To decorate my card I have used a couple of elephant stamps from Wild Rose Studio .... yes I do seem to have a collection of elephant stamps as my sister loves elephants, so I tend to buy a few when I see them to use on cards I make for her. The two used on my card today were a couple that I decided to try out scanning and cutting using my Scan N Cut machine my DH gave me for my birthday .... love love love it! Hopefully I won't be having to hand cut as much as I used to :)

As per the challenge, I had to use a stencil and stencil paste and then add glitter which is what I did on the pink panel which was first die cut using the Pull Card Edges die set. I added the glitter as soon as I had finished adding the paste and let it try prior to rubbing off the excess but I found most of it rubbed off. Some did stay on but not as much as I would have liked ... oh well!

Here is another view of my card taken at a different angle so you can see the pop up portion of my card. I also created a pop up box to sit behind the balloons to give the card a bit of stability.

The sentiments used on the inside of the card both come from W Plus 9.

For the front of my card I tried a different way to apply the paste and glitter. This time round I scooped out some paste from my jar and placed it onto my craft mat and then added some glitter to the paste and mixed the two together and then applied it through the stencil. You can see the glitter a bit better, but for the amount of glitter I used again not as much as I would have liked. Personally if you want glitter on your texture paste I would opt for the products that are designed for this purpose and have glitter in them already. I have a few of those and I love the glittery effect they give. The only reason I didn't use them for this card as the colors I had weren't the colors I wanted to use on my card. Bo Bunny & Viva Decor both have pastes that give a glittery look when they are applied.

Tag You’re It!

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  I finish off the month as challenge hostess with one last challenge.

Tag You’re It! – This week let’s use a Tag on whatever you create. It can be an individual tag or you can add the tag to your card/project you create.

For my card this week I have created a Trifold Tag Pivot card using the Tag Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I started with a piece of card which measures 5 1/2 inches x 12 inches and scored along the 12 inch side at 4 inches & 8 inches. I then die cut the Tag Pivot die on the 8 inch score line.

Along the bottom edge of the card I added grass using the Outdoor Edges die set.

To decorate my card I used two stamp sets from W Plus 9. The large balloon, animals and a few of the sentiments are from the Party Animal stamp set.

This is a view of the front of my card when it is all folded up ready to be placed in an envelope.

Here is a close up of the Pivot portion of my card. The smaller balloons and the sentiments in the large balloon are from W Plus 9's Unforgettable stamp set.

Unforgettable

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Being the challenge hostess for the month, I continue to issue the challenges.

Being the third Saturday of the month it is time for our Sketch Challenge. I hope you have fun playing with this layout.

For my card this week I played with some new stamps (for me) from W Plus 9 to create a birthday card. I am either 11 months early for my sister's birthday next year or I will give this one to one of my nieces to give to her next year.

For the candy dots on the top right hand corner of my card, I  used the dots from the Fancy Seasons Frame Edges and layered them.

For the inside of my card I used the Happy Birthday Pop Up Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I added more of the elephants and balloons around the card. For the elephant and balloon at the base of the card I cut the string of the balloon and positioned it so that the balloon string looks like it is going behind the sentiment.

Here is another view of my card this time at a different angle.
