Away in a Manger

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I have another Christmas card using the same stamp set I used in the card I shared with you all yesterday which was a freebie set that came with a Stamping Magazine. These stamps were actually designed by Wild Rose Studio.

For the inside of the card I added the star that is included in the stamp set that I used for the front. The "Peace on Earth" sentiment from an Avery Elle stamp set.

Stamps:  Away in a Manger - Wild Rose Studio (Freebie Set from Creative Stamping Magazine Issue 48); Snowflakes - Avery Elle
Paper: White; Red; Blue; Blitzen Collection Paper Pad - Bo Bunny
Dies: Stitched Circles; Dotted Scallop Circles
Other: Black Ink; Nuvo Red Berry Gloss Crystal Drops;  Nuvo Midnight Blue Gloss Crystal Drops; Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops; Foam Tape; Copics

You Are Amazing

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Our challenge hostess for the month Rebecca Ednie, continues to issue the challenges.

This week, lets get brave and try a new technique. Apply any type of paint, embossing or modeling paste or liquid medium (like gel medium or gesso) through a stencil and while you medium is still wet, apply some glitter! Using a wet medium has the happy side effect off keeping more of your lovely glitter in place and far less of it where you don't want it! Try white on white for a lovely tone-on-tone effect or jazz it up with more than one colour of glitter. Use this as a focal or as a background. I can't wait to see your creations!

For my card today I decided to create a Pop Up Card. I used the Pop Up die from the Hot Air Balloons die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I love that some of the new dies released earlier this year come with optional Pop Up dies which are perfect to pop up your other images/dies you have in your collection.

To decorate my card I have used a couple of elephant stamps from Wild Rose Studio .... yes I do seem to have a collection of elephant stamps as my sister loves elephants, so I tend to buy a few when I see them to use on cards I make for her. The two used on my card today were a couple that I decided to try out scanning and cutting using my Scan N Cut machine my DH gave me for my birthday .... love love love it! Hopefully I won't be having to hand cut as much as I used to :)

As per the challenge, I had to use a stencil and stencil paste and then add glitter which is what I did on the pink panel which was first die cut using the Pull Card Edges die set. I added the glitter as soon as I had finished adding the paste and let it try prior to rubbing off the excess but I found most of it rubbed off. Some did stay on but not as much as I would have liked ... oh well!

Here is another view of my card taken at a different angle so you can see the pop up portion of my card. I also created a pop up box to sit behind the balloons to give the card a bit of stability.

The sentiments used on the inside of the card both come from W Plus 9.

For the front of my card I tried a different way to apply the paste and glitter. This time round I scooped out some paste from my jar and placed it onto my craft mat and then added some glitter to the paste and mixed the two together and then applied it through the stencil. You can see the glitter a bit better, but for the amount of glitter I used again not as much as I would have liked. Personally if you want glitter on your texture paste I would opt for the products that are designed for this purpose and have glitter in them already. I have a few of those and I love the glittery effect they give. The only reason I didn't use them for this card as the colors I had weren't the colors I wanted to use on my card. Bo Bunny & Viva Decor both have pastes that give a glittery look when they are applied.

Happy Birthday to You

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month, it is time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is Rebecca Ednie.

Spring brings Baby Animals! Let's use some little critters on your card or project! They can be baby animals or just small images.

Of course it isn't Spring where I live ... were are into the second month of Autumn, not that it has gotten any cooler as yet. But Spring or Autumn who can resist baby animals ... not me and I have a few stamps I purchased that include baby animals which are still waiting to be used ... so this was a good opportunity to do so.

As you can see I created an Accordion Card using the Gift Card Accordion die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

To decorate my card I used this cute image of a baby elephant holding onto it's mamma's trunk! I decided to turn it into a birthday card.

I added balloons from the Spiral Circle Pull Card die set to decorate the frames of the accordion and also the centre sentiment panel.

Here is the front of my card when it is closed ready to be popped into an envelope.

Baby Girl

Hi  everyone,

One of my nieces requested a baby card with an elephant theme and purple. This is what I came up with ... a Pop Up Box Card.

I used my Sizzix Card in a Box A2 die for the base of the card and then added the elephant from Wild Rose Studio. To decorate the box I added a few stars and also some sentiments to each of the three sides.

For the stars I die cut them so that there was Transparent Double Sided Adhesive on the front of the card and then covered with either Lavender or Peony Pink Silk Microfine Glitter.

Here is another view of my card at a different angle.

For the back of my card I added a sentiment, a tiny elephant image and a couple more stars.

Stamps: Bella with Teddy - Wild Rose Studio; Beautiful Baby - MFT Stamps; Bundle of Joy New Arrival - Kaisercraft
Paper: White; Purple; Party with Merci Girls Paper Pad
Dies: Card in a Box A2 - Sizzix; Star Stax; Stacking Stars; Oval Stax - MFT Stamps
Other: Black Ink; Purple Ink; ECD Peony Pink Silk Microfine Glitter; ECD Lavender Silk Microfine Glitter; ECD Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape 64mm; Foam Tape; Copics

Dad!

C4C239Dad1-wm

Hello everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Being a brand new month we have a new challenge hostess … Peggy McCurry.

This week Peggy has challenged us to a Man Made Challenge … Peggy asks “How many of us need more masculine cards in our stash? Have some men/boys that have a birthday coming up? A special sport event? Graduation?”

C4C239Dad2-wm

Even though Father’s Day isn’t until September down here where I live in Australia, I decided to create a Father’s Day card as I normally have to make a fair few of these so my daughters have a supply for various family members.

C4C239Dad3-wm

As you can see I created a pop up card using the Lucy Label Pop-Up Card die set designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs. The image is one I have had since late last year waiting to be inked from Wild Rose Studio. All the sentiments are from Simon Says Stamp.

C4C239Dad-wm

And finally, the front of my card. I used Simon Says Stamp Full Card Dad die for this and added some Elizabeth Craft Designs Black/Silver Glitter Dots to the word “Dad”.

    Thanks!

    PNC-Thanks1-wm

    Hello everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Anja de Regt our challenge hostess for November has another fun challenge for us.

This week Anja has challenged us to make a card this week with a thankful theme! There are lots of things to be thankful for every day and as the US celebrates Thanksgiving this month, and Canadians already had theirs, it’ s a great time to make a special card.

    PNC-Thanks-wm

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia so I just when with a Thank you card which I guess is almost the same thing anyway Smile. For the front of my card I used Wild Rose Studio’s Bella with Daisy stamp. The base of my card is the Sizzix Pop N Cuts Square Card with Ornate Edge.

    PNC-Thanks2-wm

I love using my Sizzix Pop N Cuts dies designed by Karen Burniston and this was the perfect opportunity to use the Sizzix Pop N Cuts Thanks Insert. I have also used the Sizzix Thanks Set Sizzlits to create the pink layer on the Thanks pop up. The pink decorative pieces are  also on the Sizzix Pop N Cuts Square Card with Ornate Edge.

The sentiment on the lower part of the pop up is stamped using the Sizzix Sassy Labels & Stitched Frames Framelits.

Here is another look at the inside of my card.

    Merry Christmas!

    BellaChristmas1-wm

    Hi everyone,

Karen Burniston has invited me again this month to join her and her fabulous designers for her Sizzix September Designer Challenge.

This month the challenge is Holidays!

We could make ANY sort of project for ANY upcoming holiday, such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, etc.

    BellaChristmas-wm

I decided to create a Christmas card for today’s challenge using the Karen’s Sizzix Pop N Cuts dies. For the front of the card I used the Sizzix Pop N Cuts A2 Base. To decorate my card I used some cute elephants stamps from Wild Rose Studio.

    BellaChristmas2-wm

For the inside of my card I used the Sizzix Pop N Cuts Wavy Labels Insert. As you can see I decided to create my card in the landscape format rather than the normal portrait format. When I attached the inside portion of my card to the outside card I added it in the opposite direction than I normally would (upside down) … doing this meant that the sentiment in the pop up portion of the card was more prominent when the card was open.

To create the layers on the Wavy Labels Insert I used the Sizzix Wavy Labels Framelits.

    BellaChristmas3-wm

Here is a close-up of the left hand side of my card when opened.

    BellaChristmas4-wm

And here is a close-up of the right hand side of my card when it is open.

If you are looking to purchase Karen’s Sizzix Pop N Cuts in Australia you can find them at Photo Continental.

Don’t forget to check out the Sizzix blog on Thursday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

Stamps: Bella on Bauble; Bella with Gifts; Bella on Presents -  Wild Rose Studio; Wishing You A Joyous Christmas – Hero Arts
Paper: White; Red; Green; 12 Days of Christmas DP – My Mind’s Eye
Other: Black Ink; Sizzix Pop N Cuts A2 Base; Sizzix Pop N Cuts Wavy Labels Insert; Sizzix Wavy Labels Framelits; Memory Box Grand Merry Christmas; MFT  Die-namics Mini Scallop Border; Papertrey Ink Holly Jolly Die; Candy Dots; Rhinestones; Foam Tape; Copics
