Birthday's Are For Celebrating

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Rebecca Ednie our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Being the third Saturday of the month, it is time for a sketch challenge.

This month I have been trying to incorporate Slimline cards into the challenges. Luckily this week's sketch was an easy one to use with Slimlines.

To create the Slimline panels for my card I used dies from Trinity Stamps Slimline Stitched Card Panels and Windows die set.

I used ovals dies from older Spellbinders die sets which elongated, which work perfectly for Slimline cards.

On the white oval I used Ranger's Letter It - Birthday stamp set. I had to stamp the "s" from another word in the set separately, cut it out and add it to the end of the word, so that the sentiment made sense.

I used MFT Stamps Bitty Birthday sentiments for the other part of the sentiment which I die cut out using Taylored Expressions Simple Strips die set.

I decorated the left side of the oval using flowers and leaves from two Karen Burniston die sets.

.
Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

I decorated the inside of my card, first by cutting panels from the same Slimline die set I used on the front of the card.

I am still experimenting with what pop-up dies of Karen Burniston's work inside a Slimline card and this week I tried the Rockin' Rectangles die set. Nicky Foden, used this die in a Slimline card a month or two ago which helped me to know how to make it fit. My card is 3.75 inches in height, so to make sure the Rockin' Rectangle pop-up panel stays inside the card when closed you need to trim both tabs of the pop-up mechanism in half.

I position the pop-up panel upside down to what it is normally used, so that the pop-up opens at the top of the card. I added another birthday sentiment to the pop up.

Here is another view of the inside of my card, to help see the pop-up portion of the card.

I added a blank rectangle to the base of the card, so that there is somewhere to write a handwritten message. I also added another flower to one corner of the rectangle panel.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Lovely card - I really like that the Rockin' Rectangle works so well with a Slimline!
