Gnome Pool

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month, it's time to introduce a new challenge hostess which is Rebecca Ednie.

It's the peak of summer in the North Hemisphere so let's make a card or project inspired by your favorite summer activity. Beach, pool, travel, picnics, biking, hiking, sports, flying kites! Whatever you you love to do that makes summer fun.

During summer, there is nothing better than cooling down in the pool. I recently found this fun Stampendous stamp set ... Gnome Pool, online while I was looking for something else. As you can see I added it to my cart to add to my stash.

This month I am going to try to create a Slimline card for each of the Crazy challenges. Because the top and bottom of the pool are two different pieces,  it was easy to make this fit onto a Slimline card. I used Trinity Stamps Slimline Card Panels and Windows and Slimline Scallop Card Panels & Banners dies for the various layers of the card.

I stamped the pool directly to the card panel and used inks and blender brushes to add the sky, water and concrete portions of the card. I stamped the gnomes and cut them out and added them to the various places on the card.

I added a die cut sun to the top left hand corner of the card. I also stamped a few birds to the sky which are from Hero Arts Beach HeroScapes stamp set.

I added the sentiment to the lower left hand side of the card which is from Avery Elle's Splash! stamp set.

I created a pop-up card on the inside of the card using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up die set. Rather than adding the label from the die set to the pop-up piece I die cut a circle and to represent the sun. I added a sentiment which is from MFT Stamps Sunshine & Friendship stamp set.

Along the bottom of the card I added some "grass" using the Nature Edges die set. I used Lawn Fawn's Stitched Pond Frame to add a pool to the left hand side of my card adding a few more of the gnomes to my card.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.
