It's A Baby

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Rebecca Ednie our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

Rebecca tells us .... that she always thinks of colours of the beach when she thinks of summer. Use Turquoise, peach, pink and sand/gold to create your project this week.

This definitely isn't a "go to" color combo for me, so I decided the easiest way to include those colors in my design was to use one of the new PinkFresh Studio "pop out" background stamps. These stamps allow you to remove pieces of the stamp so that you can ink specific pieces in the color you want. I used the Nested Diamonds stamp set for my card today. This stamp is designed to be used on either an A2 card or square card, but as I was wanting to make a Slimline card for our challenge today, I had to do some careful planning and repeat stamping to get the over all background.

I noticed when I was typing up this post, that I have missed the "peach" part of the challenge ... but the elephant's ears are probably close enough to that color to count.

I used Trinity Stamps Slimline Stitched Card Panels & Windows and Slimline Scalloped Card Panels & Banner die sets to die cut the panels for my Slimline card.

When I was stamping out the colors to create my card panels, I thought it would be a great color combo for a baby card, so that is what I created.

didn't want to hide too much of that background, seeing it took so long to make. I used the elephant from Honey Bee Stamps Safari Babies stamp set on the right hand side of the card.

I added a sentiment to the left side of my card using an A Way With Words die set. I die cut the word from pink and turquoise cardstock and offset the two slightly before adhering to an oval label.

While I was stamping my background for the front of the card, I stamped an additional one for the inside (actually I had stamped three, but the third ended up getting messed up so I couldn't use on this card. I die cut the panel using the dies I used on the front of the card and then layered them together and cut in half. I added one half to the edges of the inside of my card.

To create the pop-up in the centre of the card I used Lawn Fawn's Hello Pop-up die set. I added the letters to the pop-up using pink and turquoise cardstock.

I added the "Congratulations" and "little baby" sentiments which are both from Honey Bee Stamps Hooray stamp set. I also added a blank panel for a hand written personal greeting.

Here is another view of the inside of my card taken at a different angle, so you can see the pop-up portion of the card a little better.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.
