Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - November 2020

Welcome to our November Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is ... "AUTUMN SLIMLINE POP-UP" - make a slimline style card to celebrate autumn incorporating any pop-up die.

As I seem to have become addicted to Slimline Cards, I loved having a slimline challenge this month. I don't often make "Autumn/Fall cards", so pulled out the Autumn Elements die set to help decorate my card.

Of course Karen Burniston has just released four die sets which work with Slimline cards this week, so I incorporated three of them on my card today.

For the background layers I used the new Long Rectangles Crosshatch die set. I used the second largest rectangle to die cut the white panel and then used the ARTplorations Overlayers Stencil and Distress Oxide inks to decorate this.

I used the rectangle frame from the Slim Frames die set, using the Alphabet die set to add the word "FALL" to the centre.

I added the stamped "HAPPY" to the top left side of the sentiment.

To finish off the front of the card, I added leaves in various colors around the frame.

On the inside of the card I created a pop-up card. I  added the layers using the Long Rectangles Crosshatch to both panels of the card, decorating as I did on the front of the card.

I used one of the triangle shaped pop-ups from the Mini Pops Pop-up die set which I positioned on either side of the card. I then used the Gnome and Santa die set to create two gnomes using Autumn colors and adding a leaf to each gnome to carry.

I added the multi layered pop-up from the Mini Pops Pop-up die set to the centre of the card, die cutting it from white cardstock and using the stencil I used on the card to decorate the pop-up panel. I tried to match it up as close as I could to the stencil pattern on the base panels.

I added leaves along the top and bottom of the pop-up panel, which helps hide the edge of the pop up on the card.

I used the rectangle frame from the Slim Frames die set to add to the wide pop up on the centre pop up. I used the "hello" from Word Set 6 - Summer to add the sentiment to the frame.

To finish off the inside of the card, I added a couple of leaves to the pop up behind the frame and also one in front of both gnomes.
