Have A Fancactus Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Colorado Craft Company recently released four cacti/succulent themed stamp sets, as I enjoy creating cards of this theme I purchased the sets. Three of the sets have an enormous image of a cacti/succulent, and some of the sentiments were very different to what I already have in my stash, so they were a must have.

Being so large, the image often won't fit on a complete card, unless you were making something large. I probably could fit one on a 5 x 7 card, but I wanted to make something different and the Magic Colour Slider card came to mind. As I liked the look of the partial image showing through the window I decided to make one of those.

To make the Magic Colour Slider portion of the card I used Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's 5 x 7 Magic Colour Slider die set. I was originally going to make the colour slider where the colour reveal is revealed on the top pull out panel however that didn't turn out properly so I went with plan b.

When you start to pull the tab at the top of the card, the black and white image starts to disappear with a coloured image

Here is a look at my card when the tab is completely pulled, you can see the fully coloured cacti and also a sentiment.

I used the layering die included in the die set to create the layer for my 5 x 7 top folding card base.

I added the "fan cactus birthday" sentiment to the lower section of my card. This is one of the sentiments included in the Can't Touch This stamp set from Colorado Craft Company, which is the stamp set I used for the cacti also.

I used the cacti that I was originally going to use on my card, but ended up not being able to be used on the magic colour slider portion of the card. I added it to the lower left hand corner of my card.

I added another of the cacti themed sentiments, this time from the Grow Girl stamp set. I also added a "Happy Birthday" sentiment underneath the main sentiment.

Paddington Magic Colour Slider

Hi Crafty Friends,

Thanks for visiting my blog. I am sharing a fun birthday card I created recently.

For my card today I created a Magic Colour Slider card using Made to Surprise by Sam Calcott's  Magic Colour Slide 5 x 7 Mechanism die set

To decorate my card I used Paddington and Paddington Gets Busy Stamps sets from Craft Stash.

When you start to pull the tab at the top of the card, the black and white image starts to disappear with a coloured image.

Here is a look at my card when the tab is completely pulled, you can see the fully coloured Paddington Bear and also a sentiment.

I layered the slider onto a panel of Holographic cardstock which is die cut using the largest rectangle die included in the Magic Color Slide 5 x 7 Mechanism die set.

For the inside of the card I added the "HB2U" sentiment using a die set from Picket Fence Studio. I added another of the Paddington Bear and Paper Airplane images from the stamp set.

Birthday Celebrations

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a fun birthday card I created recently using stamps and dies from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott.

This card is a Magic Colour Slider Card, when the card is closed the picture in the centre is just black and white, then once the tab is pulled it. shows up coloured as if by magic. I have made many Magic Colour Slider Cards over the years, although not for a while. Recently Sam Calcott released her Magic Color Slider Collection, which as you can see I had to add to my stash. I loved the size of her dies making both 6  inch x 6 inch and 5 inch x 7 inch cards.

This card I made with a birthday theme, using the Birthday Rainbows stamp set with coordinating dies. The spoon was die cut using the Magic Color Slide Additions Die set.

Here is a look at my card once the tab at the top of the card is pulled, it reveals the colourful cake.

I used Holographic cardstock to die cut the frame around the window.

For the inside of my card, I die cut the frame from coral and white cardstock and adhered this to the centre of the card. I stamped on the sentiment. The "Birthday Wishes" is from Honey Bee Stamps Birthday Wishes stamp set. The "Bring On The Cake" is from an older MFT Stamps stamp set.

Hogs & Kisses

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce a new challenge hostess which is Vicky Gould.

Today is National Pigs Day….let’s see some fun pigs on our cards.

I haven't made a Magic Color Slider card for a few months, so I thought I would pull out my Lawn Fawn die and use that on  my card today.

When you pull the tab, it starts to reveal the magic ... which is the color appearing under the tab.

To decorate my card I used this cute pig from Simon Says Stamp Birthday Farm Animals stamp set. I stamped the pig that is on the Magic Color Slider as is but altered the other two using other stamps in the stamp set.

And finally the whole colorful scene is revealed. I added the "Pull Here" sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Push Here stamp set.

For the inside of the card I added a sentiment and another of the cute pigs.

Insanely Happy Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being the challenge hostess for the month, I continue to issue the challenges.

Acetate - Create a card that includes acetate on/in it in some way. It could be a Shaker Card, Magic Color Slider Card, Window Card, Gap Card etc.

For my card I decided to create a Magic Color Slider card. These are always so much fun to make and even easier now I have the Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider die set, which makes creating this style of card a breeze!

When you pull the tab, it starts to reveal the magic ... which is the color appearing under the tab.

To decorate my card I used the troll characters from the Your Next Stamp Insanely Happy Birthday Stamp set. .... Trolls are back in fashion now!!!!

Along the bottom of my card I added some grass so that I could ground my little  troll people.

And finally the whole colorful scene is revealed. I added the "Pull Me" sentiment from the Heffy Doodle Interactively Yours Clear Stamp set.

I also added Nuvo Drops to match the designer paper on the base of the card all around the frame and grassy area.

On the inside of the card I added a strip of the remaining designer paper to the left hand side. I added a birthday sentiment to the white panel. Finally I added the last of the Trolls to the card and added a couple of music notes.

Jump for Joy

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Anne Harmon our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Our challenge this week is ... Water color. Make a background using water colors, then finish the card in whatever way you wish.

For the water color part of the challenge, I decided to stamp a large leaves background stamp onto water color paper using VersaMark ink and adding white embossing powder. I then used various autumn/fall distress inks to randomly water color the piece before setting aside to dry.

For my card today I have created a Magic Color Slider Card using the Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider Card die set. I have also used the Lawn Fawn Jump for Joy stamp set to create an autumn/fall themed card.

When you pull the tab, it starts to reveal the magic ... which is the color appearing under the tab.

To decorate my card I have also added grass along the bottom of the card, using the Lawn Fawn Grassy Hillside Borders die set, and added a few more leaves.

And finally the whole colorful scene is revealed. I added the "Pull Here" and arrow to the tab using the Push Here stamp set.

For the inside of the card I added a birthday sentiment and a few more of the cute images from the stamp set.

Beep Boop Happy Birthday

Hi everyone,

Today I have another Magic Color Slider Card using the Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider Card die set.

These are so much fun to create ... this one may be  little busy, but I am sure whoever gets it will love it anyway.

I stamped the robot and present from the Lawn Fawn Beep Boop Birthday stamp set onto the acetate using Stazon ink.

When you pull the tab, it starts to reveal the "magic" the color appears.

On the outside of the card I added the tiny cogs & keys from the stamp set to the slider window using VersaMark ink. I also added some die cut cogs to the lower right hand side of the card.

And finally the whole colorful scene is revealed. As you can see a balloon and sentiment also magically appeared when I pulled the tab up.

For the inside of my card I layered the white cardstock onto orange cardstock which had been die cut using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Postage Stamp Rectangles ... I think this looks a little like cogs.

I added a piece of the designer paper I used on the front of the card to the bottom of the panel and also added the other robot and sentiments from the stamp set.

Stamps: Beep Boop Birthday; Push Here - Lawn Fawn
Paper: White; Dark Blue; Light Blue; Orange; Green; Yellow; On the Go DP - BoBunny

Let's Play

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce a new challenge hostess which is Maryann Einam.

According to the "Days of the Year" calendar today is Hop a Park Day. Use stamps, dies or both to create a scene or something that you may see in a park.

As soon as I saw the theme of this challenge I knew I had to pull out my Lawn Fawn Let's Play stamp and die set to play as many parks have play equipment for kids. As I had recently just received Lawn Fawn's new Magic Color Slider Card die set which I have been wanting to use, it wasn't hard to decide to combine the two.

Here is a quick video to show what happens when you slide the slider part of the card up and down.

It's been a long time since I have made a Magic Color Slider Card, probably 20 years or so and it is so much easier having a die which does most of the hard work for you. The hardest part of this card is ensuring that your image on the acetate panel inks properly with the Stazon ink ... I did have to touch up some places with a sharpie.

As you can see I added a seesaw with two more cute playmates to the bottom of my card.

One thing you need to keep in mind when you are creating a scene which requires masking and only putting one or two images on the acetate and the remainder of the scene on the colorful side. That is that the images need to match when you pull the white slider piece up. When I first created my card, I had planned to have the squirrel on the slide and just the slide on the front ... but you then see the top of the slide over the squirrel when you pull the tab up ... not very magical! Luckily I was able to scratch the ink off the parts of the slide I didn't want to be there and then line the squirrel up over the existing squirrel and ink that on the acetate panel ... thank goodness for my MISTI!

Finally the inside of my card. I had the swing already cut out from the last time I played with the set so I decided to stamp another squirrel and add that to my card as well. I know I will definitely be making more of these cards in the future 😀.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.
