Your Birthday Is On Point

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing another Winged Panel Card, this time using the Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott’s 6 x 6 Circular Never Ending Card die set.

I used the Papercraft Society’s Box 58 designed by Time for Tea. The theme for this box was cacti.

When I was putting this together I was trying to figure out how to do the centre oval panels as of course the die set didn’t come with anything for that seeing this style of cards wasn’t how the die set was designed for. I remembered that I had recently purchased an oval die set from Spellbinders which was perfect for this called Essential Stylish Ovals.

Here is a look at the back of the card, I added an oval panel to the centre to add a sentiment. I also added a cacti image at the bottom which hides a glue smudge that was annoying me.

Fancactus Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

I hope you are all having a fancactus day! As you can see my card today is a cactus themed 5 x 7 card. I used Avery Elle’s Aloe Amigo stamp set, which I have had for a while but had forgotten about,

For my layers I used Spellbinders Stitched Notch Corner Card die set which was the Stitched die of the month for December 24.

I also used Spellbinders Plaster 3D Embossing Folder to add texture to the green card base. I rubbed a green ink pad over the raised areas after it was embossed.

I added the sentiment which is an older stamp set from Colorado Craft Company.

For the inside of my card I added a sentiment from an older cactus themed die set and also a Happy Birthday sentiment.

Cactus Makes Perfect

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Centre Stepper Easel Card using a die set from Creative Craft Products available from Craft Stash.

This card turned out to be a lot smaller than I was expecting, especially after using most of the Creative Craft Products Stepper dies. This one when folded to go into an envelope would measure approximately 5 inches x 4 inches. It's also very different to what I think an Centre Step Easel Card would look like, as most easel cards would have a portion of the easel base showing in front of the design. I have made a few Centre Step Easel Cards and this is definitely different to those. It took me a while to work out how to assemble it as there was no picture to see what it was supposed to look like, but I finally found a video done by Craft Stash that helped.

To decorate my card I used one of the cacti images from Colorado Craft Company's Stay Sharp Stamp set, the cacti in this set are very small so they were perfect for this card.

For the inside of the card, I used all the layering dies included in the die set. I also added two sentiments from the Grow Girl Stamp set. The small cacti in the top section is another of the cacti included in the Stay Sharp stamp set.

Have A Fancactus Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Colorado Craft Company recently released four cacti/succulent themed stamp sets, as I enjoy creating cards of this theme I purchased the sets. Three of the sets have an enormous image of a cacti/succulent, and some of the sentiments were very different to what I already have in my stash, so they were a must have.

Being so large, the image often won't fit on a complete card, unless you were making something large. I probably could fit one on a 5 x 7 card, but I wanted to make something different and the Magic Colour Slider card came to mind. As I liked the look of the partial image showing through the window I decided to make one of those.

To make the Magic Colour Slider portion of the card I used Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's 5 x 7 Magic Colour Slider die set. I was originally going to make the colour slider where the colour reveal is revealed on the top pull out panel however that didn't turn out properly so I went with plan b.

When you start to pull the tab at the top of the card, the black and white image starts to disappear with a coloured image

Here is a look at my card when the tab is completely pulled, you can see the fully coloured cacti and also a sentiment.

I used the layering die included in the die set to create the layer for my 5 x 7 top folding card base.

I added the "fan cactus birthday" sentiment to the lower section of my card. This is one of the sentiments included in the Can't Touch This stamp set from Colorado Craft Company, which is the stamp set I used for the cacti also.

I used the cacti that I was originally going to use on my card, but ended up not being able to be used on the magic colour slider portion of the card. I added it to the lower left hand corner of my card.

I added another of the cacti themed sentiments, this time from the Grow Girl stamp set. I also added a "Happy Birthday" sentiment underneath the main sentiment.

Flowering Cactus

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have a 5 x 7 birthday card to share with you today. For some reason, I am attracted to cacti themed stamps and dies and a few months ago I spied this beautiful stamp set. I was lucky that I found it on the Craft Stash website and as I was placing an order, I added this to my cart.

This cactus stamp set is from Memory Box and includes the two cacti images, two butterflies and seven beautiful sentiments. As you can see the main image is a fairly large image and fits a 5 x 7 card well. I stamped the cacti onto white cardstock and cut it out so I could layer it onto my card.

I have a few new birthday sentiment stamp sets that I just love so I used one for my card today. This uses the Essential Birthday Sentiments from LDRS Creative.

As you can see, I created a pop-up on the inside of my card using my favourite Katherine Label Pop-up die set. I only used the mechanism from this set as I decided there was so much space inside the 5 x 7 card, that I could add a larger label. I used the two large labels from the Labels - Crosshatch die set.

I added another birthday sentiment from the LDRS Creative stamp set and added the smaller cacti and another butterfly to the label.

On Point Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have a birthday Slimline card to share with you today using a cactus die set from Mama Elephants. This uses the Cactus Builder die set which includes the cacti images and the pot.

To create my slimline card I started by creating the background. I die cut a piece of blue cardstock using the largest rectangle from the Picket Fence Studios' Slim Nesting Rectangles die set. I added extra color to the panel using Distress Oxide inks in Broken China, Faded Jeans and Prize Ribbon. I added a small rectangle to the base of the card, colouring it with Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide ink. This was then adhered to a side folding Slimline card that measures 3 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches.

I die cut the pot and base from ochre cardstock adding ink along the sides of the pot. I decorated the pot using dies from Whimsy Stamps Slimline Zig Zag Edger die set.

I die cut the cactus from green cardstock and shaded the edges using Mowed Lawn & Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide inks.

To finish off the from of the card I added a sentiment from MFT Stamps Let's Stick Together Stamp set.

For the inside of the card I added a box pop up to add my sentiment and added decoration. I added another of the stitched rectangles from the Slim Nesting Rectangles die set.

I used the second cactus included in the Cactus Builder die set. The sentiment is from an older Sizzix die set.

The border at the top of pop up and edges of the card were created using Whimsy Stamps Zig Zag Edger die set.

Looking Sharp

Hi Crafty Friends,

I thought it was about time I pulled out my alcohol inks to create a background for one of my cards, of course I had to try it to create a Slimline Card.

I used alcohol inks in yellow/orange colors on Yupo paper to create my background. After applying the alcohol inks onto my paper, I then used an Air Blower to move the inks around to create an interesting background.

I used the Catherine Pooler Designs Chevron Slimline die to die cut a panel from black cardstock and then layered this over the alcohol inked background. This was then layered onto a side folding white slimline card that measures 3 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches.

To decorate my card I used the cactus and pot using Concord & 9th's Stuck on You die set. For the sentiment I used a sentiment from Sizzix Cacti Fold-A-Long die set.

I had a thin strip of the alcohol inked background left over after cutting it down for the front of the card, so I added this to the edge of the card.

I die cut the other cactus included in the Stuck on You die set so I added that to my card.

Finally I added a birthday sentiment using a sentiment from Darcie's Stay Sharp stamp set.

Stuck Together

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Our challenge hostess Nicky Foden continues to issue the challenges.

Being the third Saturday of the month it's time of a sketch challenge.

For my card today I used a Spellbinders die set .... Succulent Garden. I used a square from Elizabeth Craft Designs Dashing Squares die set.

The strips under the square were cut using a guillotine using patterned paper.

I added a sentiment along the bottom of the card which is from an MFT Stamps stamp set.

For the inside of the card I added a pop-up die using Karen Burniston's Paper Frames Pop-up die set. The card is a little bit narrow really for the die, but I can close the card so it pop-up can't be seen.

I added sentiments to the pop-up panel using a Darcie stamp set.

On either side of of the card I added another die cut cacti using the dies from the Spellbinders die set.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Cacti Sliding Window Card

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a fun Sliding Window Card using Sunny Studio Stamps Sliding Window die set.

The three cacti used on the circle pop-up panel are created using Spellbinder's Potted Cacti die set. I die cut the cacti's from three different shades of green cardstock. I used two different brown/terracotta colors for the pots which I also added white gel pen to create the design on two of the pots.

When you pull the tab at the top of the card the centre portion of the card pops up revealing a message underneath.

The stamped sentiments used on this card are from Darcie's Stay Sharp stamp set.

I also added a tab to the top pull out panel using the tab included in the Lawn Fawn Double Surprise Pop-up die set. Adding the tab makes it so much easier to pull the tab up and down so the cacti stand up.

I kept this card as a flat card rather than adding it to a folded card.  I added a rectangle panel to the back of the card, so I had a place to write a greeting to the recipient of the card.

I added another cacti to the lower right hand corner of the card and a die cut sentiment.

Howdy, I'll Get To The Point

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a birthday card I created recently using one of Concord & 9th's new Turnabout stamps from their January release and an old favorite ... the Katie Label Pivot Card die set.

It has probably been at least 2 years since I made a card using Karen Burniston's Katie Label Pivot Card die set which used to be available from Elizabeth Craft Designs. This used to be one of my most used die sets, and of course I miss using it ... so I decided to pull it out to play with for my card today.

To decorate my card I used Concord & 9th's To The Point Turnabout Stamp and coordinating die set. This stamp does allow you to ink up the image with at least 8 different colored inks, however seeing I was just using a 2 inch panel on each end of my card, I couldn't get the panels to look similar with that many colors. So I decided to stick to 4 different colors which for this card looks much better, although I do like the look of 8 colors on a finished card when you are only using the one panel.

I decorated each of the three panels (front & two ends on the inside) using the cactus and pot from the coordinating die set.

The "Howdy" sentiment is also included in the die set and I added the smaller sentiment which is included in the stamp set.

As I always need birthday cards, I added a birthday sentiment on the right hand side label.

Here is a look at the back of the card. As you can see I added another of the turnabout stamped background to the edge of the card and of course the birthday sentiment can be seen.
