Believe In The Magic Of Christmas

Hi Craft Friends,

Today I am sharing a Christmas Card using some of the new dies being released tomorrow by Karen Burniston.

I combined the Gift Pivot Panels die set with the Twist Panel Pop-up die set to create this card.

I used MFT Stamps Ho Ho Ho Background stamp to create my background, using the emboss resist technique and Distress Oxides inks in Festive Berries, Candied Apples and Barn Door.

I added Santa & his reindeer to the bottom left hand side of the card which is from MFT Stamps Christmas sELFies stamp set.

Along the top edge of my card, I used the new flip from the Flip and Closure die set and added the Merry Christmas sentiment.

On either side of the pivot panels I added sentiments using MFT Stamps Bitty Holiday Sentiments.

Here is a look at my card as it is closing, you can see how the 4 panel fold in the centre folds up and starts to turn to the side.

For the front of the card I used another of the images from MFT Stamps Christmas sELFies stamp set.

I created a polaroid frame by die cutting a square to the top part of a rectangle and trimming  down the sides of the rectangle to make it look like a polaroid.

I added a sentiment to the bottom part of the polaroid which is from MFT Stamps Bitty Holiday Sentiments stamp set.

And finally a look at my card when it is closed. It may look a little thick, but it does flatten down a little more and will fit into an envelope easily.

October 2018 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our October Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is .... "HAPPY FALL, Y'ALL!" - make a card celebrating fall, autumn or Thanksgiving.

For my card today I have combined the House Pivot Panels die set along with the Twist Panel die set to create my Halloween scene. I decorated this panel using the dies from the House Pivot Panels, Halloween Scene, Halloween Elements and Halloween Charms die sets.

To create the base of the card I sponge on Distress Oxide inks onto a white card base using Blueprint Sketch, Dusty Concord & Black Soot inks for the top panel and then sprinting white paint all over the background to create a starry night sky.

For the bottom panel I used Forest Moss and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks and then spritzed with water from a distress sprayer.

Here is a look at my card as it is starting to close.

Along the bottom panel I have used the graveyard from the Halloween Scene die set and the hands from the Halloween Elements die set.

For the top panel I die cut a circle from white cardstock using one of the circles from the Crosshatch Circles die set and then pouncing black soot ink to the circle using a blending tool. I added the tree branch & bat from the Halloween Scene die set. The second bat is from the Halloween Charms die set.

As the focus is on the inside of the card I kept the front of the card simple,  repeating some of the elements I used on the inside of the card. I also added the Happy Halloween oval sentiment which is from the new Halloween Charms die set.

And finally a look at my card when it is closed. It may look a little thick, but it does flatten down a little more and will fit into an envelope easily.

Don't forget to visit Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

Hop Hop Hooray!

Hi Crafty Friends,

Apparently today is Frog Jumping Day according to the Days of the Year web site. As I received a frog stamp set for my birthday back in March which I hadn't gotten around to playing with as yet I figured this was as good an excuse as any to pull it out and play!

I have created a Twist Panel Pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Twist Panel Pop-up die set. To decorate my card I used the Waffle Flowers Toadally Clear stamp set.

Rather than adding layers to the twist panel section of the card as I normally do, I just die cut this in white and sponged on some sky using the cloud die  from the Nature Edges die set and added blue cardstock for the pond the frogs are playing in.

I also used the same die to create a border for the top and bottom of the card.

I added an old frog themed birthday sentiment to the base of the card using a label from the Katherine Label Pop-up die set.

Here is a look at my card as it is closing, you can see how the 4 panel fold in the centre folds up and starts to turn to the side.

As the focus is on the inside of the card I kept the front of the card simple. I added a couple of fishtail flags onto the lower portion of the card and added a sentiment and the frog trio. I added a cloud border to the top of the card.

And finally a look at my card when it is closed. It may look a little thick, but it does flatten down a little more and will fit into an envelope easily.

Whisking You a Happy Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a birthday card I created recently.

As you can see I have created a Twist Panel Pop-up Card using the Karen Burniston die set. It's been a while since I have made this style of card so it felt good to pull the die set out and play.

This card started by creating the background panels. For this I used the new Altenew Scallop Builder Stencil which I recently purchased. I just had to try it out. After I created my first panel, I made two more so I could create this pop up card.

I used the Art Impressions Whisk It clear stamp set to decorate my card. I stamped each of the images directly onto the white panels of the Twist Panel section, which is unusual for me as I normally attach them using foam tape which can make this card bulky.

I die cut the Twist Panel mechanism from the purple cardstock and then layered the stencilled background onto the purple card. The sentiment panel is die cut directly into the stencilled background and inlaid into the card, which helps prevent the twist panel section catching when opening and closing the card.

For the front of the card I stamped the lady with cupcakes from the stamp set, and adhered her to a partial die cut circle and also added a sentiment.

I added Nuvo Crystal Drops to all of the cupcakes both on the front and inside the card.

Here is a look at my card as it is closing, you can see how the 4 panel fold in the centre folds up and starts to turn to the side.

And finally a look at my card when it is closed. It may look a little thick, but it does flatten down a little more and will fit into an envelope easily.

Merry Christmas Mate!

Merry  Christmas Everyone!!!!

It's Christmas Day already down here in Australia! I must have been a good girl this year as I did very well 😀

There are many of you who visit my blog regularly, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all so much for your support throughout the year. Hope you all have a wonderful and safe Christmas!

A couple of months ago, when I attended a local craft show I discovered an Australian stamp company that had an Aussie stamp set for sale. Of course being an Aussie, I had to buy the set and decided I would use this for my card today.

The cute wombat, koala and kangaroo and the Aussie Christmas sentiments are from a stamp set from Beccy's Place. Not sure I have referred to Christmas using most of these phrases, but it makes a fun card!

As you can see I have created a Twist Panel Pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Twist Panel Pop-up die set. I have also used the grass from the Nature Edges die set and the Gift Card Label die.

To give it a little bit more of an Aussie feel, I also added gum leaves from Ultimate Crafts.

As the focus of this card is on the inside, I kept the front of the card fairly simple. I used the Gift Card Label die set again and added a sentiment and some gum leaves like I did on the inside of the card.

I also added Nuvo Drops to each of the fleur de lis.

Here is a look at my card as it is closing, you can see how the 4 panel fold in the centre folds up and starts to turn to the side.

And finally a look at my card when it is closed. My card is a little thick when closed because I like to use foam tape on some of the elements of the accordion panel on the inside of the card ... as it will be hand delivered this doesn't matter. However if you don't want a thick card eliminate the foam tape.

Supplies:

Paper: White; Red; DP - Kaisercraft
Dies: Twist Panel Pop-up; Nature Edges; Gift Card Label - Karen Burniston; Gum Leaves - Ultimate Crafts

Have Yours-Elf a Merry Little Christmas

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our Paper Pros challenge for December. This month our challenge is hosted by Me! The theme this month is .... Let's Twist Again (like we did last summer). Which means we could use either of Karen Burniston's "twist" die sets ... the Snowman Twist Circle Pop-up or the Twist Panel Pop-up die sets to create our card.

As you can see I went with the Twist Circle Panel Pop-up die set to create my card for our challenge today.

To decorate my card I used the Santa's Elves stamp set from MFT Stamps.

I die cut the four panels from white cardstock using the rectangle die included in the die set. I then stamped each panel using MFT Stamps Snowfall Background stamp with VersaMark ink and embossed using white embossing powder. I then covered the snowflakes using two different pink Distress Oxide inks and spritzed with water using a distress sprayer.

I added a snowbank to the bottom of each of the panels using the border die from the Nature Edges die set using glitter to give the look of snow.

Along the top edge I added a cloud edge also from the Nature Edges die set and added the ornaments from the stamp set along the cloud edge.

I added the Sizzix/Tim Holtz Retro Merry Christmas to the bottom panel of the card.

On the front of the card I created a scene using the remainder elf from the stamp set, the tree and presents, which I layered onto circles.

I added a sentiment from another stamp set to finish off the card.

Here is a look at  the inside of the card when the card is starting to close, you can see how the centre panel twists to the side as it is closing.

Here is my card when it is folded. Mine is a little thicker than it needs to be as I keep insisting on using foam tape to add the images to the twist panel part of the card which makes it a little thick. I am not worried about the thickness as I can hand deliver it when I want to give it away, but if you want it thinner, just don't use as much foam tape as I do.

You can see what the other "Paper Pros" created for this challenge on their blogs:

Trolls Insanely Happy Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Bonnie Sharp our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Being the third Saturday of the month it is time for a sketch challenge.

For my card today I have again used the cute Troll characters from Your Next Stamp's Insanely Happy stamp set. I couldn't decide which card to use them for when I was deciding on what to do for both the CCEE challenge and C4C challenge I do every week that I decided to use it for both.

For the inside of the card I created a Twist Pull Card using the Twist Pull Card die set from Karen Burniston, I just love this fun die set.

I received some designer paper in a card kit I received a month or two ago which I loved but I only had one piece of each design, so I had to be creative on how to use it  to stretch it out. By piece it on the inside I was able to have enough for both the inside and the outside of this card. Don't worry, I loved the paper so much I had to order a whole paper pack hehe!

I used the grass from the Nature Edges die set on each of the white panels and stamped some clouds on each panel too.

Along the bottom edge of the card I added the birthday sentiment included in the stamp set and some Nuvo drops to match the papers.

Along the top panel I added the number border, highlighting the '5' and adding the 'today' tab. I will probably use this for my Granddaughter's birthday coming up next month as she will be 5!

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.
