With Love At Christmas

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have another Christmas card to share with you today, using dies from Karen Burniston. I have gone with no traditional Christmas colours for my card, taking inspiration from a paper pad I recently received.

For my card today I have mixed some of the recently released products with some previously released, the great thing about Karen Burniston's dies is that everything works together.

For the front of my card I added the fireplace scene using the Fireplace Pop-up die set, this die set works well as either a pop-up on the inside or flat on the front as I have used on my card. I also used the Fireplace Extras 1 die set to add some of the additional images to may card.

The presents on the lower left side of my card were created using the gifts included in the Gift Pivot Panels die set.

I also added a stamped sentiment, using MFT Stamps Bitty Holiday Sentiments stamp set.

For the inside of my card, I created a pop-up card using the Gift Pivot Panels die set. I used colours inspired by the designer paper to add the presents to the pop-up panel.

The layers on the front and inside of my card were all die cut using the Rectangles - Crosshatch die set. I also added a white rectangle panel to the right side of my card for a place to write a personal greeting.

To finish off my card I added the "Merry Christmas" sentiment. This is a two line sentiment die, so I cut it apart to make it fit on my card.

October 2022 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our October Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is ... "HALLOWEEN or FALL" - create a card with a Halloween or Fall theme.

As you can see by my photos above, I went with a Halloween theme so that I could play with a few of the new Halloween themed dies that were released last month ... the Skeleton & Bat and the Bats Slim Pattern Plates dies.

For my card today I created a 5 inch x 7 inch card, I am really enjoying this larger size rather than the standard A2 size.

I added patterned paper to both sides of my card, they weren't long enough for a 7 inch tall card, but as I was added the graveyard scene from the Halloween Scene die set it didn't matter. I die cut the graveyard scene from dark grey cardstock and splattered black ink over it.

I created my pop up card using the Gifts Pivot Panels die set. I die cut the pivot panel using cardstock which was close to the color of the patterned paper, I then inked around the edge using black ink.

The moon in the top left corner was die cut using a circle from the Circle Tag Book Pop-up die set.

Did you know a group of bats can be known as a Colony, Cauldron, Camp and Cloud. I used the new Bats Slim Pattern Plate to add the colony of bats to the background which are mostly on the upper right of my card. It is so easy to just separate a few of the bats from the background you die cut and add where you want them.

The larger bats, skeletons, black cat and pumpkin baskets are all from the new Skeleton and Bats die set.

I also added the pumpkins, ghosts and BOO! using the Halloween Elements die set.

I kept the front of the card fairly simple as the focus of this card is on the inside.

I used the Bats Slim Pattern Plate again to create the background over the purple cardstock. I die cut the background twice from black cardstock and then trimmed off any excess.

The sentiment was created using the Happy Halloween die set, I die cut the sentiment from black and holographic card offsetting the black over the holographic slightly.

I die cut two circles using circle dies from both the Circles - Crosshatch die set and the Snowman Twist Circle die set. I then added the skeleton and pumpkin basket to the circle.

Mountain of Joy

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing another Christmas Card I created recently. In November I purchased Hero Arts November My Monthly Hero kit and while I was at it, I also ordered the Mountains of Joy stamp set which was one of the add-on sets available. Who wouldn't love to receive all those presents LOL!

Normally when I make a card, especially a pop-up card, I start with the inside of the card. But for this one I started with the present image and selected four colors to use to color all the presents etc in. Again, I would normally select papers first ... but this one is all about the presents.

I also knew that I wanted to incorporate Karen Burniston's Gift Pivot Panels on the inside of the card, so the card needed to be wider than the standard 4 1/4 inches wide, but with the presents on the front which are tall I needed a taller card than 4 1/4 inches also. So I settled for a card that was 5 inches high x 5 1/2 inches when closed.

I used teal colored cardstock for the background panels, adding Distress Oxide inks in Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire. I then splattered white paint and Liquid Stardust over the card.

For the front of the card, I added a snowy hill along the bottom of the card using white glitter cardstock and Lawn Fawn's Stitched Hillside Borders die set. I also added an elf from MFT Stamps Santa's Elves stamp set.

To finish off the front of the card I added a sentiment which is included in the Mountain of Joy stamp set, adding it to cardstock which had been colored using Copic Markers.

For the inside of the card, I again used white glitter cardstock and Lawn Fawn's Stitched Hillside Borders to create the snowy hill along the bottom of the card, that helps ground everything.

I then added the Gift Pivot Panels mechanism to the centre of the card. I added white glitter cardstock to the lower portion of the mechanism, so the presents of this panel, didn't look like they were floating in the air.

I die cut the individual presents from the Gift Pivot Panels die set from white cardstock, and then colored these using the same colors I used on the large mountain of presents, so the colors looked the same.

On the left hand side of the inside of the card, I stamped another image of the mountain of presents, trimming it down slightly on the left side of the images. I attached this piece to the left side of the card. I also stamped the small present from the stamp set and added to the right of the presents.

I used the sentiment from the stamp set which says "Sending You A Mountain of Joy" ... I trimmed off the "joy" from the sentiment before stamping onto white cardstock and then white embossed. I then colored the panel using yellow Copic Markers.

I have been wanting to use the die from the Gemini Joy Edge'ables Stamp & Die set, but hadn't found anything to use it on. So when I saw that the last word of the sentiment on the left side of the card was "Joy", I decided to make use of it on this card. I didn't have space to include the word die using the "edge'ables" part of the die, so just die cut the word and trimmed it off the panel and added it to the top right hand corner of my card.

To finish off my card I added another elf from MFT Stamps Santa's Elves stamp set and one more small present from the Hero Arts Mountains of Joy stamp set.

It's Penguining To Feel A Lot Like Christmas

Hi Crafty Friends,

Well it's now just over three weeks until Christmas arrives, so for most of this time I will be sharing Christmas themed cards or projects with you.

Today I am sharing a fun card feature penguins.

For the front of the card I used Mama Elephant's Penguin Waddle Stamp set with coordinating dies. I seldom buy coordinating dies for my stamps as I normally use my Scan & Cut, however I loved the large sentiment die that was included in the die set. As the only way to get that sentiment was to buy the dies, that is what I did.

I created my background panel using Distress Oxide Inks in Tumbled Glass & Faded Jeans and then I splattered white paint all over the background.

I added the sentiment to the top of the card which is from a Mama Elephant stamp from last year called Cool Penguins.

For the inside of my card I created a snowy scene pop-up using Karen Burniston's Gift Pivot Panels which was released last month. I love that this can be used as a generic pop-up die if desired.

I die cut the "Oh So Merry" die set which is the sentiment die I was talking about that comes in the coordinating die set for the penguins on the front of the card. I cut the sentiment apart, so I could have the "Oh So" on one side and the "Merry" on the other.

To decorate the card I used the cute penguins from the Mama Elephant Little Penguin Agenda stamp set. Most of the penguins I used have a Christmas theme, however I did add a couple more that could be used for anytime.

The trees that I also added to the scene are from Lawn Fawn's Winter Skies stamp set.

Believe In The Magic Of Christmas

Hi Craft Friends,

Today I am sharing a Christmas Card using some of the new dies being released tomorrow by Karen Burniston.

I combined the Gift Pivot Panels die set with the Twist Panel Pop-up die set to create this card.

I used MFT Stamps Ho Ho Ho Background stamp to create my background, using the emboss resist technique and Distress Oxides inks in Festive Berries, Candied Apples and Barn Door.

I added Santa & his reindeer to the bottom left hand side of the card which is from MFT Stamps Christmas sELFies stamp set.

Along the top edge of my card, I used the new flip from the Flip and Closure die set and added the Merry Christmas sentiment.

On either side of the pivot panels I added sentiments using MFT Stamps Bitty Holiday Sentiments.

Here is a look at my card as it is closing, you can see how the 4 panel fold in the centre folds up and starts to turn to the side.

For the front of the card I used another of the images from MFT Stamps Christmas sELFies stamp set.

I created a polaroid frame by die cutting a square to the top part of a rectangle and trimming  down the sides of the rectangle to make it look like a polaroid.

I added a sentiment to the bottom part of the polaroid which is from MFT Stamps Bitty Holiday Sentiments stamp set.

And finally a look at my card when it is closed. It may look a little thick, but it does flatten down a little more and will fit into an envelope easily.

Coffee and You

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce our new challenge hostess, which is me!

Apparently tomorrow (8th November) is Cappuccino day, so our challenge this week is to create a coffee themed card.

The Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop is also this week 1st - 8th November, so I am also using my card for that too.

For my card today I have used Karen Burniston's new Gift Pivot Panels die set which is being released on Monday 11th. Instead of adding the gifts that come with the die set, I die cut the word "COFFEE" and added each letter to a section of the die where the gifts would normally go.

To decorate my card I used the cute characters from MFT Stamps Sweater Weather - In The Woods stamp and coordinating die set.

To ground the characters, I added the snow/dirt border from the Nature Edges die set which I colored using green inks.

I partially stamped the sentiment, omitting the 'Coffee" from the sentiment seeing it was already in the centre. I added the first part of the sentiment to the top left hand side of the card.

Then I added the last part of the sentiment under the "Coffee"

I also decorated the Gift Pivot Panel using coffee beans and coffee cups from the Sweater Weather stamp set.

I kept the front of the card fairly simple as the focus is on the inside. I added a few more of the stamps from the stamp sets used on the inside of the card which I layered to my card using the Crosshatch - Ovals die set.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:
