You’re A Hoot!

Older&Wiser-wm

Hi everyone!

Last week during our Karen Burniston Designer Challenge, Karen shared with everyone a technique on how to double the height of the Katie Label Pivot Card which allows us to use larger images when using this die. You can find Karen’s Video Tutorial on this technique here.

Ever since then I have been wanting to try out this technique, and finally on the weekend I got a chance to sit down and create a card using this technique … such a fun technique!!!!

As I had a new owl stamp needing to be used and some feather designer paper which I had purchased last week to use with some of my owl stamps, it wasn’t hard to decide what I would use to create this card. The owl used here is from Whiff of Joy.

For my card I have used the Karen Burniston/Elizabeth Craft Designs Katie Label Pivot Card; Fancy Label Accordion Card and the Agatha Edges die sets as per Karen’s video.

The Agatha Edges help hid the fold in the designer paper as do the layers created by using the Fancy Label Accordion dies on the pivot section of the card.

Here is a look at the back of the card.

Thanks Karen for another FUN tutorial!!!!

Baby’s First Christmas!

C4C65-William-wm

Hi all!

Happy Saturday! Saturday’s of course means it is time for another challenge with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Our challenge hostess for the month is Cindy Haffner brings us her final challenge for November.

This week Cindy challenged us to use Script Paper or A Script Embossing Folder on our cards.

This Christmas will be my Grandson’s first Christmas and of course I am super excited …. he probably doesn’t care one way or another right now cause he is only 6 months old so doesn’t know what is happening. But I am sure he will have fun anyway! When I saw this Whiff Of Joy stamp a few months ago of course I had to buy it as it reminded me of my adorable Grandson!

I used the Sizzix Bingo embossing folder for the Script Embossing Folder requirement of this challenge …. it seemed to fit the theme of my card better than a normal script embossing folder as the numbers reminded me of an advent calendar.

The layout of my card uses a recent Mojo Monday sketch (Mojo164).

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Stamps: Baby – Whiff Of Joy
Paper: White; Blue; Red; Jovial DP – Basic Grey
Other: Black Ink; Circle Nestabilities; Oval Punches; Sizzix Bingo Embossing Folder; Green Ribbon; Button; Twine; Foam Tape; Copics

Hi everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!! Wow it is only 2 months to go till Christmas arrives … doesn’t the year just fly by!

I am still busy working on getting my Christmas cards all done and here is one I created recently using a stamp set from Whiff Of Joy. Having a train lover in the family it is hard to resist when I see anything train related and this one was no different.

It’s All About the Bling!

C4C56-DancingWillow-wm

Hi all,

It’s Saturday which means it’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.

Joycelyn Pelkey brings us her final challenge for the month which is Bling – use glitter, diamonds, pearls…. make those cards sparkle.

For my card this week, I got to play with some new toys. The image is one of the new Whiff Of Joy stamps released earlier in the month. It is stamped onto one of the new Spellbinders Label 14 dies. The designer paper is from the Pyrus pad from Basic Grey and finally the flowers in the top corner of the card. What fun!

For my bling I added rhinestones to the girls necklace and bangle. It is hard to tell my the photo but the rhinestones are actually yellow. I also used my gold Spica pen to color in the bangle on her hand and her purse and finally I also added glitter glue to the flowers and leaves. In real life this sparkles!!!!!!!! Unfortunately it is not always easy to capture that on camera.

Here is the inside of my card, I used a scrap of the designer paper to add a decorative layer to the bottom of my card.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Hot Chocolate Anyone!

My card today is for this week's sketch challenge over on SCS. This week we were given two sketches which were pretty much very similar one was landscape and the other portrait style ... I ended up going with the portrait style sketch as it suited the image that I wanted to use.

Apparently there is also a week long "pink" theme over on SCS ... so we were encouraged to include pink in our card.

I wanted to play a bit more with one of my Whiff of Joy stamps I got a while back that I haven't had much of a chance to play with ... I just love these images. The designer paper I selected for this card reminded me of the flowers that are on the girls jeans .... there are actually pink & cranberry colored flowers on the designer paper .... unfortunately by the time I added all the layers to my card you can't see too many of the flowers especially the pink ones. Believe me they are there LOL!

Recipe:
Stamps: Hot Chocolate - Whiff of Joy; Sentiment - MFT Stamps
Paper: White; Cranberry Crisp, Pretty In Pink & Baja Breeze - SU; DP - Imaginisce
Other: Black Ink; Baja Breeze SU Ink; Cranberry Brads; Gratitude Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Pink Flower; Foam Tape; Copics

More Winter Wishes!

I just noticed when I was uploading this one that my earlier card I posted today is title "Winter Wishes" haha funny that I make two winter cards today ... this one I actually made today the other one I made a couple of days ago so I had kind of forgotten what sentiment I had used with it LOL! Anyway the sentiment works for both cards so why not .... although winter is one of the last things from my mind seeing we are looking forward to summer not winter!

My card today is for this week's sketch challenge over on SCS. The sketch today has a blocked background and I decided to use my figgy pudding designer papers from Basic Grey for this ... I was originally thinking more of the snow DP's in that series but as you can see it didn't end up that way LOL ... but I like how it did end up. The stamp is 'Charlie with snowballs' from Whiff of Joy.

I added paper piercing to the top left corner of the main image, and used the spellbinders ribbon tag die to create my sentiment layer.

Recipe:
Stamps: Charlie with snowballs & Sentiment - Whiff of Joy
Paper: White; Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze & Bravo Burgundy - SU; Figgy Pudding DP - Basic Grey
Other: Black Ink; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Brown Brads; Tag Die; Brown Grosgrain Ribbon; Foam Tape; Copics

It's Your Day!

Greetings everyone! Well as it is Monday it is time for another challenge with my CCEE Stamper friends. This week our challenge is the "Catchy Name Featured Stamper" (CNFS) challenge that we do each month. For this challenge one of us picks a member of SCS who has a catchy name and then we create our card around that name and send out cards to them.

This month our CNFS is Charmwarm! Cammie who is issuing the challenges this month instructed us to create a card that uses a charm. The catch is---no store bought charms---be creative and make your own.

First up I selected this image because it kind of reminded me of the name "Charmwarm" ... blowing kisses seems like a charming or warm thing to do right! The layout for my card is this week's sketch challenge over on SCS which I wanted to play with again ... it is a fun sketch!

For my charm piece I used shrink plastic. I die cut the shrink plastic using a scallop heart nestabilities die. I sponged pink ink around the scallop portion of the heart. I stamped the name "Charmwarm" in the middle of the heart using black ink. Then I used my heat gun to shrink it down to size. I attached my "heart charm" to my card using my tagger gun layering it behind the heart.

Want to play along???? Create your card and then link it on our CCEE Stampers blog, so we can see your card. You can also see the rest of the CCEE Stampers cards if you go to our blog.

Recipe:
Stamps: Melinda blowing kisses - Whiff of Joy; Hugs & Kisses - SU; It's Your Day - Papertrey Ink; Alphabet - Karen Foster Snap Stamps
Paper: White; Regal Rose, Red Riding Hood & Buckaroo Blue - SU; DP - Heidi Grace/Fiskars
Other: Black Ink; Pretty In Pink SU Ink; Red Heart Brads; Shrink Plastic; Long Rectangles & Heart Nestabilities; Pink Flower; Tagger Gun; Foam Tape; Copics
