Fred Bear With Butterfly

Hi everybody,

It Saturday which means it is time for another challenge with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month we have a brand new hostess which is Mercy Kerin.

Mercy has challenge us to use either pleated ribbon or paper on our creations.

For my card today I used the new “Fred Bear has a Butterfly” set which was released by MFT Stamps earlier on in the week. … the butterflies are actually individual stamps so you can stamp them wherever you want or leave them out whichever your heart desires.

The layout of my card is based on a recent SFYTT sketch challenge. I decided to use ribbon that I pleated on my card, I love how it turned out! Pleating ribbon takes a little bit longer then just tying a bow but I think it was worth it.

Tutorial – Medallions using Martha Stewart Corner Punches!

Hi all,

Most of you who follow my blog know that I have become addicted to the Martha Stewart border punches. Of course when I buy a new border punch I normally also get the matching corner punch so that I have it if I want to do a full border.

Now I know we have created medallions before using corner punches, but until recently I didn’t think about doing them with my Martha Stewart Corner punches … until the other week in a local scrapbook store with my friend. When we got home we immediately got out all my Martha Stewart punches out and started to play!

I decided to paste all my samples into a book so that if I was looking for a specific shape or design it would be easy to see which one works best. You can see all the different medallions you get in the photo above and below. Some of the designs you get from these punches are awesome, obviously there are some I like better than others and will be using over and over again.

Here is what you need to do to create them:

 

Supplies Needed:

• Martha Stewart Corner Punch of your choice (mine is quilting)
• 1 1/2 inch (3.8cm) Square piece of card
• Reverse Tweezers or strip of card with removable tape at one   end.

 

1. Take your 1 1/2 inch (3.8cm) square card and place one corner into the corner rounder and punch.

Remove piece from punch.

 

 

 

Place your reverse tweezers (these are tweezers that need to be squeezed to open not to shut so are perfect for doing this) on the opposite corner than the one you wish to punch next.

 

 

Insert the card into the punch, lining up the corner. Make sure the tweezers are just outside the punch.

 

 

If you don’t have reverse tweezers, a strip of card with some removable tape on one end will also work.

I don’t have a completed card to show you as the cards I have made so far are can’t be posted for another week or two but I can give you a sneak peek at them.

 

First off this flower that I used as an embellishment to a card. This was made using the Optic Dot Corner Punch … I punched out 3 layers and then scrunched them up and layered them together to create my flower.

 

 

 

This is the Optic Dot before I turned it into a flower … I can see lots of possibilities for this … add a button or brad in the centre for another fun embellishment.

 

 

 

Here is another I did using the Quilted Corner Punch … I stamped my sentiment on white card and punched it out with a small circle punch and layered that in the centre of the medallion.

Gardeners Know The Best Dirt!

Hi all!

It is Thursday which means it is time for another challenge over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog.  Being a brand new month we have a new challenge hostess which is Shirley Quarry.

This week Shirley has given us a fun sketch to play along with.

To create my card I used MFT Stamps new “PI – Mud Buddies” set which was released last night. This is such a fun set!

After die cutting my circle I used MFT Stamps Die-namics Cloud Trio Die to create masks of cloud shapes which I attached to my circle and then I airbrushed over this using my copic airbrush. I also used the Die-namics Scalloped Scallop Die to create another mask so that I could airbrush the dirt area. I then stamped the dirt from the set over the dirt area.

The bottom strip going across my card was created using MFT’s Die-namics Jumbo Scallop Die.

To create the tiny flowers in my garden, I used an Sizzlits flower die and then used the pink felt from My Favorite Felt - Banana Split felt pack … I am loving playing with this felt there are endless things you can do with it. To finish off the flowers I added pink swarovski crystals from Swarovski Crystal - Spring Collection.

I die cut another small cloud using the Die-namics Cloud Trio Die and then stamped the sentiment from “Clearly Sentimental About Summer Vacations” set … I thought this sentiment also worked for a garden scene as well as a vacation.

Here is the inside of my card. The sentiment is another from the Pure Innocence stamp set that I used for my card. And as you can see I used my Die-namic Jumbo scallop die again to create the border along the bottom.

Jolinne …. Let’s Hop & Shop!

It’s release day over on MFT Stamps, which means it is time to join the MFT Stamps Design Team for another "Blog Hop and Shop!".

The hop started at Kim's (MFT Lady) blog so if you didn’t start from there you may want to head over there now so that you can start at the beginning of the hop. You don't want to miss anything and believe me there is lots to see!

Today I am featuring the new Jolinne stamp sets that is being released today:

Jolinne – In My Garden $15.95

For my first project today I decided to create what I call a “Seed Book”. Basically it is a little book which has pockets in each page to hold seed packets or sachets.

I also used the new MFT Die-namics Grass Die to create the grass at the bottom of the image and also on each of the pages.

Here is the 1st page of my book, as you can see I added one of the sentiments from the set. This set has a number of different flower or garden related sentiments which made it perfect for this book.

You can also see my pocket on the right hand side of my book, I used MFT’s Die-namic Scalloped Scallop Die to accent the pocket.

My little sachets I have included in my book aren’t actually seeds but perfume sachets, but as they are decorated with flowers I thought they would work with this book.

And finally the last page of my book … using yet another sentiment from the set.

My second project today uses the new “Jolinne All Dressed Up” stamp set. Recently while I was out shopping I found a fun notebook that had a pen at the side of it. I loved the idea, so I purchased one which I then pulled apart so I could duplicate the idea to create my project today. The pen from the book didn’t match the colors I selected for my book so I found another small pen and then covered that with designer paper to co-ordinate with my project.

Here is another view of my notebook … you can see how the pop out piece of the book allows for a pen to be inserted into the book.

Welcome Little Star!

Hi everyone,

It’s time for another Pretties Wednesday Challenge & Blog Hop. If you didn't hop onto my blog via Jackie Rakoski's blog then you might want to hop back over to the very start of the blog hop which is at Christie Ortman blog.

This week is the start of a brand new month, which means it is my turn to bring you another Pretties Wednesday Sketch Challenge.

The stamps the design team are using on our card/projects this week are “Ahoy Matey” and “Summer Fun” . Both these stamps sets are available for sale this week at 35% off the normal price.

For my card I used “Ahoy Matey” ….. this makes such a fun baby card and you know how I am loving making baby cards right now hehe, especially since my Grandson, William was born last week (wow I just realised he is almost a week old ... doesn't time fly when you are having fun!). Especially baby boy baby cards *wink*.

If you want to know what I will be doing with all these cards well my daughter has friends who are also having babies … let’s hope they are boys or I will be having to quickly make some girl cards hehe.

I also decorated the inside of my card using one of the sentiments included in the set.

WTG – Goes Green!

I have another couple of MFTeasers to share with you all today. If you missed my previous post from today which was this month’s MFT sketch challenge scroll down after you have finished here to see yet another MFTeaser.

Today the MFT Stamps Design Team are featuring 3 more of the new stamps which will be released by MFT Stamps after the release party tonight, Wednesday 2nd June. The sets featured today include “WTG – Goes Green”; Who’s That Geek Guy?” and also “Clearly Sentimental About Summer Vacation” which is the Triple Scoop set for June.

For my first card I have for your today I used the new “WTG – Goes Green”, this is such a versatile set and includes not one but two WTG images along with a number of different sentiments. Both are shopping related.

I used a recent Mojo Sketch challenge (Mojo138) for the layout of my card.

Here is the inside of my card using one of the sentiments included in the set. I also created the border along the bottom of the card using MFT’s Die-namics Jumbo Scallop.

For my second MFTeaser today I decided to use the “Clearly Sentimental About Summer Vacation” set. Vacations normally mean you need to pack a suitcase if you are going away, so I decided to create a suitcase card to use with the sentiments.

Here is the inside of my card using another of the sentiments from the set … there are a lot of fun sentiments to select from. I also used MFT’s Die-namic Jumbo Scallop Die on the inside below the sentiment.

I’m Pulling For You!

It’s time for another Wednesday Stamp Club over on the MFT Stamps Member Forum of SCS.

On the 1st Wednesday of each month Cindy Haffner and I host a sketch challenge. This month it is Cindy’s turn to host the challenge!

For my card today I used one of the new MFT Stamps  Pure Innocence sets which are to be released after the release party on Wednesday night 2nd June. This set is called “PI – A Cart Full of Friends”. The fun thing about this set is that the cute little bear and bunny in the cart are individual stamps which means you have a choice as to whether you use them or not … if you prefer you could easily fill the cart with something else.

I stamped the girl onto my card using black ink, then I masked her and the cart. I then die cut a couple of clouds using MFT Stamps Die-namics Cloud Trio Die from masking paper and placed then on my card as masks. I then airbrushed around the clouds for the sky and also added some airbrushed grass.

For the strip across my card I used MFT Stamps Die-namics Jumbo Scallop Die and also Die-namics Scalloped Scallop Die.

I created a couple of flowers using a cuttlebug flower die using My Favorite Felt - Outdoor Essentials.

Soak The Day Away!

Hi everyone,

I have another MFTeaser to share with you all today in readiness of the MFT Stamps new release to be held this coming Wednesday 2nd June.

Today the MFT Design team are featuring three more of the stamp sets that are to be released, these include: “Jolinne In My Garden”; “Jolinne All Dressed Up” and “Bath Time Mini”.

My project today uses the new “Bath Time Mini” stamp set.

I love this new Bath Time image especially the oval shape of it and the good news is that it fits perfectly onto the Spellbinders Nestabilities Die.

First up is the basket I created to pop the bath products I purchased to give as a gift in.

As the gifts I was including in my basket were strawberry scented I decided to go with a strawberry theme for my card and basket I created.

Here is another view of my box so you can see the side of it. 

This is an easy basket to create and can basically be made from a sheet of square card. I remember making these years back with my Brownies! My card was 8 1/2 square and then scored at 2 1/2 inches all around.

I also created a card to match the basket. I used MFT’s Die-namic Scalloped Scallop Die on the left side of my card.

Here is the inside of my card … I only just had enough designer paper to add some to the inside but as you can see I just made it LOL.  The sentiment is another included in the stamp set.

3 … 2 … 1 … Off To See The Wizard!

The Riley and Company Design Team are back with another challenge to share with you today. This week our challenge hostess is Cathy Edgar.

Cathy challenged us to a 3 – 2 – 1 challenge, the idea being that we use 3 of something on our card, 2 of something and 1 of something.

For my card I just had to stamp the “Riley – Yellow Brick Road” stamp again … I just love this stamp!!!!!! To complete this challenge I used 3 buttons, 2 designer papers and 1 border punch.

The layout of my card is a Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge (TESC113) from a few weeks back.

Cute As A Bug!

Hi All!

It’s time for another challenge over on the  Alota Rubber Stamps blog. Our challenge hostess this week is Susan Uncle.

Susan challenge us to FOLD FOLD  (Lots of folding) Challenge. A Double Stair Step card has lots of folds so I decided to create one of those as it has been a while since I have. I used 2 of the new Alota Stamps that were released in May to create my card. These are “Andrea & Ria Make Up Bugs” and “Millie L. Dress Up Bug” . The sentiment is from the “Dress Up Words” set.

Besides all the folds on my card, I also added folds to my ribbon on the front of my card as I wanted it pleated … so I think I have well and truly covered this challenge hehe!
