Santa & Snowman Place Cards

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the Art Impressions Christmas Place Card Pals die set as it was a good price that I just couldn't resist getting it.

As soon as it arrived I just had to play and make some placecards which I will be using with my family on Christmas day.

I created the names using my computer and then used the fishtail flag banner die included in the set to die cut all the names.

I added a mouth to my snowmen using the smallest Black/Silver Glitter Dots Peel Off Stickers. I also used the Red/Gold Glitter Dots Peel Off Stickers for the berries on the snowman's hat.

Here is a close up of one of my Santa place cards.

Merry Christmas

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Maryann Einam  our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Being the third Saturday of the month it is time for a sketch challenge.

For my card today I have used the A Way with Words - Merry Christmas die set which is layered using the Stitched Ovals and Dotted Scallop Ovals die sets. I embellished my card using the Holly Leaves and Berries die set.

As you can see I have created a pop up card using the Merry Christmas Pop Up Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I used the snow border in the Outdoor Edges die set to create a snow edge at the bottom of my card and added Santa sitting on a reindeer which is a die cut.

On the top panel of my card I added the Memory Box Pine Needles Border.

Here is another look at the inside of my card taken at a different angle so you can see the pop up part of my card a little better.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Holly Jolly Christmas

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing one last (for now) card using the Carved Wood Technique which I have been playing around with lately after seeing a video by Gina K on Stamp TV.

For this card I scored the white card in half inch increments and then swiped my green ink pad over the card and then swiped my red ink pad over the top of that. I then used a holly embossing folder to embossing the designed into the wood. Finally I covered the panel with white ink to highlight the embossed area.

To decorate my card I used the A Way with Words - Merry Christmas sentiment which I die cut from Red Metallic Shimmer Sheetz. On the top left hand side of the card I added some holly leaves and berries, the berries have been glittered using the Bright Cranberry Silk Microfine Glitter.

As most of the card is holly themed I decided to add the Holly Jolly Christmas sentiment to the inside of the card.

Along the bottom of the card I added the holly border from the Elizabeth Craft Designs Holiday Garlands 1 die set and then added Red/Gold Glitter Dots Peel Off Stickers to the berries on the border.

Birthday Bear Hugs

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog.  As challenge hostess this month I continue to issue the challenges.

Yesterday 16th November was "Have a Party with Your Bear Day". So to celebrate, let's feature bears on our cards this week.

I created a pivot card using the Katie Label Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I am pretty sure the bears I used on my card are having a party .... a birthday party! I used my Scan N Cut to cut out all the bears and accessories which is much easier than cutting out by hand.

I love that pivot cards can be viewed from any way and have a point of interest. As I had a bear and present left over I decided to add them to the back of the card.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

You're Magical

Hi everyone,

My card today is for a challenge I do with a couple of friends of mine. Each month we get together to share ideas and have fun!

This month I challenged my friends to create a Twist Circle Panel Card using Karen Burniston's Twist Circle Pop Up card and her tutorial on how to adapt the mechanism to create a Twist Circle Panel Card. You can see Karen's tutorial here.

For my card today I used Kraftin Kimmie Stamps Unicorns & Rainbows stamps set.

I used the CountryScapes Cloud & Grass die set for the bottom of the card and on the four panels.

Here is a closer look at my card when it is starting to close.

And now the card is full closed (well almost) .... you can see that the twist panel has changed its position and is now facing a different direction.

For the front of my card I added another cloud layer and three of the ponies along with a sentiment from the stamp set.

Carved Holly

Hi everyone,

As you may be able to tell I have another card using the Carved Wood Technique to share with you today. If you missed my last two cards using this technique scroll down to the labels of this post and click on the Carved Wood Technique label.

This time around I decided to create a pull card using the Rectangle Pull Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I added the "carved wood" panels to either side of the pull card. To create the wood effect I applied green ink to my scored card first and then covered that with red ink. I then used a holly embossing folder to emboss the card and then went over the panel with white ink.

To decorate the front of my card I used the Joset Designs Christmas Pudding die set.

When you "pull"  the card open it reveals the Christmas sentiment on the inside of the card.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing another card I created using the Carved Wood Technique which was recently demoed by Gina K on Stamp TV.

For my card today I decided to use an embossing folder which has a large Christmas sentiment on it. I kept the card fairly simple as I didn't want to hid the sentiment and just added a few holly leaves and berries from the Elizabeth Craft Designs Christmas Pudding die set.

For this card I first applied Peeled Paint Distress Ink over the entire card after scoring the card in half inch increments and then added Festive Berries Distress Ink over the top.

For the inside of the card I added the Elizabeth Craft Designs Holly Border along the left hand side and added a sentiment to the right side of the border.

Happy 90th Birthday Mum

Hi everyone,

Today is my mother's 90th Birthday ... happy birthday Mum!

Being such an important milestone I wanted to create a special card for her. Recently on Pinterest I saw and idea on a card that included how many decades, months, weeks, days, minutes and seconds Mum has lived in her 90 years and I also liked the idea of including the "Ninety is only 9 in Scrabble", I have used that idea before in a 40th birthday card I created earlier in the year.

I also wanted to include the numbers 90 on her card somehow ... so the question was how was I going to get all that on one card!

Ever since Karen Burniston posted her tutorial on modifying the Twist Circle Card to become a Twist Circle Panel Card, I have been having lots of fun making cards using this technique. This technique definitely came to my rescue for Mum's bday card all those panels were perfect to hold everything I wanted to include. You can see the tutorial here

Of course the base of the card using the Twist Circle Pop Up die set. I inlaid the speech bubble from the Speech Bubble Edgy Options to the top and bottom of the card. On the top speech bubble I inlaid the Happy Birthday from the Happy Birthday Pop Up Card die set. On the bottom speech bubble I inlaid the word "Mum".

The two end panels of the 4 panel twist piece were computer generated. I added two candles which I decorated using Silk Microfine Glitter. And on the remaining panel I added the number "90".

To finish off the inside of the card randomly added a few Pink/Silver Glitter Dots Peel Off Stickers to the Speech Bubbles.

As the inside in the focus, I kept the front of the card simple. Last year I purchased all the MFT Stamps Decor N More Number dies as I knew I had a few milestone birthdays to make this year and I was determined to make sure I used them for most of the card which I am happy to say I have for all but one!

I die cut the numbers using designer paper and then also one with card and offset them slightly to achieve a shadow effect.

Here is a view of the inside of the card as the Twist Panel is starting to concertina together and twist as the card starts to close.

And finally my card which is almost closed, you can see how the twist panel is now closed up and facing a new direction.

Merry Christmas

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Maryann Einam  our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Stitches and thread add some form of sewing/stitches to your card.

For my card this week I have created a pull card using the Rectangle Pull Card designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

On the front of the card I added a snowman created using the Art Impressions Christmas Place Card Pals die set.

I created some faux stitching on either side of the card using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Borders die set.

When you "pull" the card open it reveals a Christmas sentiment and a snowflake which is attached to a spinner which is also included in the Rectangle Pull Card die set.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Happy Anniversary Shaker

Hi everyone,

It's my turn to post a tutorial on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today. I have been wanting to make a shaker card for a while, so I decided to create one using the new Heart Background die to create an anniversary card.

Here's how I created my card:

1. Using the largest rectangle die from the Stitched Rectangles and the second largest rectangle die from the Fitted Rectangles die sets, position the smaller of the two dies inside the other so that they are evenly spaced. Hold the dies in place using masking tape or washi tape.

  • Use these two dies to create a frame from White Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Die cut 8 more frames using white card. (Note - you could die cut fun foam to create the shaker recess, however cardstock keeps it shape better than the fun foam)

  • Using the largest rectangle die from the Stitched Rectangles die set. Die cut a piece of Dusky Lavender Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Using the largest rectangle die from the Stitched Rectangles die set. Die cut a piece of acetate.

2. Adhere one of the 8 white frames you created in step 1 to the Dusky Lavender Rectangle.
  • Continue adding the frames to each other until you have added all 8 frames. (You can add less or more frames depending on the height you need for your shaker recess.

3. Add sequins and small beads to the shaker recess you created. Glue a few of the sequins randomly around the background area so that some of the shaker pieces can be seen when the card is standing upright.

4. Using the Heart Background die to cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Using the White Soft Finish Cardstock frame we created in step 1, attach it to the front of the Heart Background.
  • Using the Acetate panel we created in step 1 adhere this to the back of the heart background.

  • Adhere the Heart Background piece to the shaker frames.

5. Cut a piece of Dark Fuchsia Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 6 1/4 inches x 10 inches. Score along the 10 inch side at 5 inches. Fold to create a side folding card that measures 5 inches x 6 1/4 inches.
  • Adhere the shaker piece to the folded Dark Fuchsia card.
6. Cut a piece of Dusky Lavender Soft Finish Cardstock that measures approximately 3 inches x 6 inches. Adhere Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the back.
  • Die cut the A Way with Words - Happy Anniversary from this cardstock.
  • Cut a piece of Dark Fuchsia Soft Finish Cardstock that measures approximately 3 inches x 6 inches. Adhere Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the back.
  • Die cut the A Way with Words - Happy Anniversary from this cardstock.
  • Layer the Dusky Lavender sentiment to the Dark Fuchsia sentiment so it is slightly offset.
  • Adhere sentiment to top of front of card.

7. Using the second largest rectangle die from the Stitched Rectangles die set, die cut one rectangle from White Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Using the largest rectangle die from the Dotted Scallop Rectangles die set, die cut one rectangle from Dark Fuchsia Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Adhere the white panel to the Dark Fuchsia panel.
8. Using the A Way with Words - Always, die cut the sentiment from Dark Fuchsia Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.
  • Adhere the sentiment to the top of the white panel.
9. Using the A Way with Words Calligraphic Elements 2 die set, die cut the heart from Dusky Lavender Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.
  • Adhere heart to the lower right hand corner of card as per photo above.
Adhere inside panel piece to inside of card.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed the tutorial.
