Pug Hugs

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. As challenge hostess for the month I continue to issue the challenges.

Apparently May is Photo month, let's include something that relates to photos this week … a card including a real photo, faux photos, selfie style stamps, cameras etc.

I love using photos of my grand puppy Frankie to create special cards or keepsakes. My daughter takes so many photos of her that it is always easy to find new photos to play with.

For my project today I used Tonic Studio's Rotating Memoirs die set to make a rotating album.

Here is a quick video to see my project in action.

To decorate the two sides of my rotating album, I added grass using Lawn Fawn's Grassy Hillside Border. I added pug images using stamps included in the Whimsy Stamps Pet's Woof stamp set which was in the February Card Kit.

The large paw print on the front page and the sentiment is also from the Whimsy Stamps card kit.

I added photos of Frankie to the top portion of each page. The sentiments on the underside of each page are from either the Whimsy Stamps stamp set or an older There She Goes stamp set which is no longer available.

This is the second Rotating Memoirs project I have created. I found this one easier thanks to having the correct red liner tape and smooth cardstock.

I couldn't  resist adding the photo of Frankie just after she has had a bath, it looks so funny!

One last page of my rotating album. I had to use up one last image from the pug stamp set, so I added it to the last page of my album.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

March 2020 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our March Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is ....
"ICYMI (In Case You Missed It)" - repost your favorite card from any previous Designer Challenge.

I posted this "pugalicious" card for our July 2019 "Picture This" Designer Challenge using the Photo Collage Card Pop-up die set. You can see more details about this card in my blog post found here.

The photos I used on this card were of my grand puppy Frankie, my daughter (her mummy), is always taking photos of her and often messages them to us. Frankie is quite a character!  So for our challenge today, I decided to create another card using some of the newer photos of Frankie that I have received.

This time around I decided to create a Photo Tag Book, using the Tag Book Pop-up die set. To frame all the photos I used the photo frame from the Photo Collage Pop-up die set.

The hardest part about making this card was deciding which photos to use.

I added three photos inside the photo frames to the front of the tag book. As one of the photos was from Frankie's 1st birthday party last year I decided to go with a birthday theme. I added the "Make A Wish" sentiment from Word Set 2 - Birthday underneath the photos.

I used the dog bowl, bones, hearts and bandana from the Cat & Dog die set to embellish the front of the card. The bandana if you are looking for it, I added to the centre photo of Frankie. So it looks like she is wearing it.

On the inside of the tag book, I added two more photos in the photo frames. These were placed on the larger tags on each end of the tag book.

Here is a close up look at the left hand side of my tag book. I added a bone to the bottom of the photo frame and added a bull dog clip from the Photo Collage Pop-up die set to the right hand side of the photo.

I used the fancy square die to decorate the centre square panels. This is another die included in the Tag Book Pop-p die set. I also added the "Happy" to the centre of the square.

On the right hand side of my tag book, I replicated what I did on the left hand side. I also added the "Birthday" to the square panel, as the sentiment was longer than the square I cut it into 2 pieces to add to the square.

July 2019 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends!!!

Welcome to our July Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is ....  "PICTURE THIS!" - incorporate a photo (or photos) into your card of any theme.

As I have mentioned before on this blog, earlier on in the year my youngest daughter finally got the pug puppy she has been wanting for so many years. It is very much loved, by her and by us. So when this challenge came up I decided to use some of the photos my daughter has taken of "Frankie" for my card.

To create my card I have used the new Karen Burniston Photo Collage Pop-up die set .... wow is this an amazing die and lots of fun. Besides the mechanism for the photo collage arm, this set also includes the photo frame, the paper clip which look so real and pin.

I did go a little overboard with the photos, as I had printed out so many. But I do like the end result. Karen Burniston recommends 8 photos on the pop up arm, but I managed to get 10 on mine and that is all within a standard 4 1/4 inch x 5 1/2 inch card when closed.

To decorate my card I used Simon Says Stamp's Paw Background stamp for the background on my blue panels. The bark, Woof etc sentiments are from Lawn Fawn's Critter Chatter. The stamped pugs, and pug sentiments are all from There She Goes Stamps Pugalicious Stamp set which unfortunately is no longer available. When searching for pug stamps recently, I did find a cute set from Newton's Nook which I have now also order LOL!

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

I kept the front of the card fairly simple as the focus is the inside of the card. I added another stamped pug using the Crosshatch Circles and a circle from the Snowman Twist Circle for the layers.

Here is one last photo of my card when it is partially closed. It does fold pretty flat and will fit inside a standard envelope.

The sweet is from another new Karen Burniston die set called Home Sweet Home. I also added a couple more paper clips to the layers.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Day 2

KBDCWilliamAccord2-wm

Hi everyone,

As promised yesterday I am back today with another Accordion Photo Album for Karen Burniston’s Designer Challenge.

Check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen Burniston will have another of her amazing video tutorials for us.

This time round for our theme Karen has asked us to create Photo Accordion Albums - here's your chance to show off the people you love or your favorite things or your ancestors or garden or pets or . . . doesn't matter. Make an Accordion Album that showcases at least one photo. Any length album, any shape album ,any theme album, but get a photo or photos on there!

Yesterday my Accordion Photo Album featured my Granddaughter Hayley (if you missed that post scroll down to the next post), so today I have created an Accordion Photo Album featuring my Grandson William.

Over the past few months, William’s Grandpa (my DH) and William’s Dad have been building a cubby house for the two kids. Last year it was stage 1 which was the main cubby house and they have just finished stage 2 which included a walkway to a slide and the slide. My youngest daughter, William’s Aunt found this cute kids Carpenter set recently which included toy tools and a tool belt, just like his Grandpa’s so when they started stage 2 of the cubby we gave this to William … he looked so cute and it was so funny seeing him trying to hammer nails into hardwood.

For my Accordion Photo Album today, I have used two photos I took on that day. My album combines two Accordion Card die sets…..  the Oval Accordion Card and the new Katie Label Accordion Card both designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs.

The Katie Label Accordion Card set will be released by Elizabeth Crafts Designs in July so watch out for it in your local stores. I was sooooo excited when Karen told us about the new Katie Label Accordion …. the label dies included in the set are different sizes to the Katie Label Pivot so we can mix and match the labels from both sets. But the most exciting for me is that I could use it to create combo Oval/Katie Label Accordion Cards as I have for my project today.

KBDCWilliamAccord3-wm

To create my Accordion Photo Album I die cut two Oval Accordion Card pages from red card and three from wood grain designer paper. I removed the center ovals and tabs from the wood grain pieces and adhered this to the red pages so it looked a little like William’s wooden cubby house.

I also die cut two Katie Label Accordion Card pages from Navy card and added stitching around the edge using a white chalk pen.

The screws at the top of my wood grain pages were brads, but I didn’t want to be punching holes and adding long brad ends to my album so I cut off the ends and attached the brads using foam tape.

KBDCWilliamAccord4-wm

I embellished the Accordion Photo Album using various tool stamps I have in my collection.

I wanted to add some wording to the two Katie Label Pages so stamped four wooden signs (I had to double stamp them so I could shorten the signs. And then I used some black Alphabet Peel-off stickers which really added the look I wanted for this album.

And finally the front of my Photo Accordion Album when it is closed. I must admit that when I first saw this challenge, I wasn’t sure about it as I don’t really do things with Photos. But I have to say I really enjoyed creating both of my Photo Accordion Albums and love how they turned out … of course they both have my favorite boy and girl on them Smile.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Day 1

KBDCHayleyAccord2-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s time for our May Karen Burniston Designer Challenge, this time round for our theme Karen has asked us to create Photo Accordion Albums - here's your chance to show off the people you love or your favorite things or your ancestors or garden or pets or . . . doesn't matter. Make an Accordion Album that showcases at least one photo. Any length album, any shape album ,any theme album, but get a photo or photos on there!

Do you spy new dies!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You do!!!!!!!!!!! Today I am using the new Ring Accordion Album die set designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs which will be releasing in July. Can I say I love love love this new die set! I have gone with a Christmas theme for my card/album today, but of course this die can be used for any occasion you want.

When I first read our challenge for this month I thought Christmas, but then had to ask both my daughters to photo stream me Christmas photos as the ones I had weren’t that great. I was going to feature both my Grandchildren on my card, but I ended up just using photos of my Granddaughter, Hayley.

KBDCHayleyAccord3-wm

Here is a close up of the first two pages of my album. I also used one or two of the dies from the Circle Accordion Card die set to create the frame around the photos.

The Ring Accordion Album Die comes with two different sized ornament hangers in it. I used the smaller of the two which I die cut from Gold Shimmer Sheetz to add to the top of both my “photo ornaments”

On the top of the two outer rings I added some holly which is included in the Tag die set. I die cut my card which I had already placed double sided adhesive to and then used Regal Green Silk Microfine Glitter and True Red Silk Microfine Glitter to the pieces. As I need one in the reverse on the front to match with the one of the first page I die cut that holly from the back of the card (non adhesive side).

KBDCHayleyAccord4-wm

As you can see I also cut a tag using the Tag die set from white card. I used the Merry Christmas (745) word die and Green Velvet Adhesive Paper to create the word Christmas on the tag. The bow is from the Wreath Bow die set.

I decided I wanted to add the year to my tag and as these were taken from last Christmas I wanted 2013 … how to do that when Elizabeth Craft Designs don’t have numbers yet, hmmmmmmmm … I ended up making the numbers using various word dies from ECD.

To create the 2 I used the S from the Get Well Soon (790) die. I reversed the S and cut of the tail and added a straight piece from one of the l’s from the die.

The 0 was created using two C’s from Congratulations (784). the 1 was easy, I cut up the H from Happy Birthday (783) and finally for the 3 I used the B from Happy Birthday (783) cutting off the straight part and reversing it.

And finally a look at the front of my card when it is closed ready to be placed into an envelope. I really had fun creating this Photo Album … which features on of my favorite people Smile.
