Winter Wishes

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Anne Harmon our challenge hostess for the month finishes off her month with one last  challenge.

Monochromatic and die cuts - this week we are to create a monochromatic card (one color) using only die cuts.

Today is officially the last day of Winter for those of us down under! So for my card today I decided to create a White on White card with a winter theme. I have used white cardstock; Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz to that I would have various whites in my card.

To decorate my card I have used the new Becky Seddon Reindeer die set which was released earlier this month by Elizabeth Craft Designs. I also found a 6 x 6 embossing folder of tree trunks which I was able to use for the back panel of my pop up card. I added three of the large tree trunks from the die set to add texture and depth.

To create the pop up card I used Elizabeth Craft Designs new General Pop Ups die set which has a number of basic pop up dies in different widths & lengths. For this card I added two.

The sentiment on the base uses the A Way with Words - Let it Snow die set die cut from Shimmer Sheetz and layered onto the small oval from the Entwined Circles die set. I also added Transparent/Silver Glitter Dots Peel off Stickers to the snowflakes for extra sparkle.

Here is another view of my card taken at a different angle so you can see the pop up part of the card a little better.

I kept the front of my card fairly simple seeing the focus of this card will be on the inside. I added the embossed background again, along with the glittered snowbanks. For the sentiment I used A Way with Words - 4 Seasons for the "Winter" sentiment which was die cut using Shimmer Sheetz. I added the "Wishes" which is from the Best Wishes sentiment die.

Let It Snow

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Being a brand new month it is time to introduce a new challenge hostess to you which is Raquel Mason.

Apparently Labor Day is here! When Raquel was growing up in the North,  there was a saying ... "Don't wear white after Labor Day". Make an all white card. You can add black, tan or another color as long as white is the predominant color.

For my card today I decided to create a pop up card using the Anita Frames Pop Up die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. This time round I decided to flip the pop up on it's side which was inspired by a card created by Karen Aicken a little while ago, you can find her card on her blog here.

To decorate the top and bottom edges of the card I used a couple of Header Fold dies from Tonic Studios which I die cut from white cardstock that had Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front and then covered with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.

I also decorated the centre pop up panel and centre labels using the glitter.

As you can see to decorate the centre pop up labels I used the Snowman die which I kept just black and white (we were allowed to add one other color if needed) and also added the sentiment from the Winter Sentiments Clear Stamp set.

I also added Transparent/Silver Glitter Dots Peel Off Stickers to the snow flurries and stars on the top and bottom headers.

For the front of my card I added another glittered header piece for the bottom edge of the card. I also added A Way with Words "Merry Christmas" which was die cut from White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz which was layered onto ovals from the Stitched Ovals and Dotted Scallop Ovals die set.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

White on White with a Pop of Color

Hi everyone,

Today I have an Easter Card with tutorial to share with you for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I love the look of white on white for cards. For a while now I have been meaning to create a background on a white card using white die cut pieces and then adding a pop of color. I finally decided to play!

Here's how I created my card:

1. Cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock 100lb so it measures 5 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches. Score along the 8 1/2 inch side at 4 1/2 inches and fold. This will be the base to our card.

2. Using the second largest die from the Stitched Rectangles die set, die cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock 85lb.

3. Using the Easter Eggs die set die cut the following:
  • (7) Medium Overlay Easter Egg with flower design from White Soft Finish Cardstock 85lb.
  • (6) Medium Overlay Easter Egg with heart design from White Soft Finish Cardstock 85lb.
  • (1) Large Overlay Easter Egg from black card
  • (1) Large Solid Easter Egg from White Soft Finish Cardstock 85lb.
  • (2) Grass from  from White Soft Finish Cardstock 85lb.
Note: Adhere Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the back of all pieces of cardstock prior to die cutting. For the Grass and Large Solid Egg die cut the pieces so the adhesive is on the front of the card.

4.  Remove the protective backing from one of the medium Overlay Easter Egg  with the heart design and adhere it so that it is centred to the lower half of the card, close to the stitching.
  • Remove the protecting backing to two of the medium Overlay Easter Egg with the flower design and position them on either side of the first egg.

5. Remove the protective backing from another of the medium Overlay Easter Egg with flower design and adhere it to the top half of the card so that it is positioned between the two eggs on the bottom of the card. Refer to photo above for placement.
  • Continue adhering the Overlay Easter Eggs to the top part of the card as per photo above. Note two eggs will be overhanging the edges of the card, using scissors to trim flush to the card.

6. Cut two Overlay Easter Eggs with Flower Design and one Overlay Easter Egg with Heart Design in half. Set aside the top half of the eggs for the next step and use the bottom parts of the egg to adhere to the top of the card in the gaps between the top eggs. Refer to photo above for placement. Ensure to place the flower egg so it is in line with the flower egg at the bottom of the card and the heart egg with the heart egg etc.
  • Trim of any overhanging eggs so that they are flush with the edge of the card.

7.  Cut one Egg with heart design in half lengthwise and adhere these on either side of the eggs at the bottom of the card. Trim off any overhanging pieces.
  • Using the half eggs we cut in step 6 place them in the gaps between the eggs on the bottom of the card, trimming off any overhanging pieces. Note you will have to cut the top off one more egg to complete the bottom section of the card.
8. Place foam tape to the back of the Stitched Rectangle panel and adhere it to the front of the white card base.

9. Remove the protective backing from both the large Overlay Egg and large Solid Egg. Carefully layer the overlay onto the solid egg being careful not to touch the adhesive on the solid egg.
  • Cover the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter, polish glitter with your finger and brush excess off.
  • Color egg using Copic markers.
  • Place foam tape to the back of the egg and attach to the lower right hand side of card. Refer to photo at top for placement.
10. Remove the protective backing from both of the grass pieces and cover the adhesive with Soft Green Silk Microfine Glitter, polish glitter with your finger and brush off excess.
  • Use foam tape to adhere one of the grass pieces in front of the large egg. Cut the other grass piece in half and adhere to either side of egg.

11. The Inside of the Card:
  • Remove the protective backing from the remaining Overlay Egg and adhere it to the bottom right hand corner of the inside of the card.
12. Using the two smallest dies from the Stitched Rectangles die set, die cut two pieces of White Soft Finish Cardstock 85lb. Layer the small rectangle to the larger rectangle using foam tape. Adhere rectangles to the top left hand side of the card as per photo above.
  • Attach the "Happy Easter" sentiment from the Happy Easter Peel Off Stickers to the centre of the small rectangle.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.

Karen Burniston November Designer Challenge Card 2

KBDCWhitewm

Hi everyone,

As promised yesterday, I am back with another card for this month's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge. This time round the theme Karen has given us is Red, White or Blue - no, we're not doing patriotic cards, we're doing single color cards. This is the all-white, all-red or all-blue challenge. You may mix in a little bit of a neutral, like silver, gold, kraft or black, but we needed to try to keep it primarily single-color.

Yesterday I shared my “Red” card for this challenge which you can see by scrolling down to the previous post, so today I am sharing my “White” card I created for this challenge.
For my card today I have made a Spiral Circle Pull Card using the Spiral Circle Pull Card Die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I have decorated my card using snowflakes that are included in with the Spiral Circle Pull Card set and also the Snowflakes Die. I covered white card with Double Sided Adhesive and then die cut the snowflakes so that the adhesive was at the top of the card and then applied Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter over the top to get glittery snowflakes. I also added Transparent/Silver Glitter Dots to the centre of each snowflake.

To the centre circle panel I die cut a White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz circle and then layered the large snowflake over the top.

KBDCWhite2wm

On either end of my card I embossed white card panels using the new Snowflakes Embossing Folder.  I edged these panels using Silver Lines Peel Off Stickers

I die cut the spiral piece from the Spiral Circle Pull Card set from clear acetate and attached it to the ‘flip’ side of the centre circle. I then attached snowflakes to the spiral. Finally I added the sentiment.

If you are looking to purchase Karen's Pop It Ups dies in Australia you can find them at Photo Continental.

Don’t forget to check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month. I will also be back later today with my final card I have to share with you for this challenge.

Butterfly Wishes

CCEE1425WhiteBfly1-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This week Anne Harmon continues to bring the challenges for the month.

This week Anne has given us a “White theme” …. There are 2.4 million June brides in America every year. It became known as the "marriage month" during the middle Ages - because - people were clean after taking their ANNUAL MAY BATHS!!!. Please make an all-white card.

CCEE1425WhiteBfly-wm

For my card this week I decided to create an all white pivot card and used the Butterfly Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs.

I cut a stripe of white card and embossed this using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Fleur de lis Embossing Folder.

CCEE1425WhiteBfly2-wm

I used one of the edge dies from the Agatha Edges die set to create the shaped edge and then used the flourish from this set to add the white flourish on along each shaped edge.

The middle layer on the pivot butterfly has been die cut using Elizabeth Craft Designs White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz.

For the small butterflies around the card I used the Elizabeth Craft Designs Butterfly Embossing Folder and then using the embossed card I die cut the butterflies using the Butterfly Accessory die set, how cool that this die set fits perfectly over the images on the embossing folder.

Here is a look at the back of my card.

    Snow Much Fun!

    ECDWhiteonWhite2-wm

    Hi everyone,

It’s time for our April Elizabeth Craft Designs Designer Challenge. Check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog on Wednesday 8AM MST when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

Our theme this month is …. "Elegant and White". So the challenge is to create an elegant project in the color white. (or off-white and you are free to use gold and silver details).

I love white on white cards, although I must admit the only time I end up making them is when someone gives them as a challenge. I am not sure why I don’t do them more often as they are lots of fun.

For my card today I decided to combine the Circle Accordion Card and the Fancy Label Accordion Card again to create my accordion card … if you look at the centre page it uses a different shape to the two outer pages.

    ECDWhiteonWhite3-wm

When I was trying to figure out what to do for this challenge I looked though all my Elizabeth Craft Design dies I have a found my Snowflakes Die which I thought would be perfect for this card.

To create the two large snowflakes on the end circles I die cut my snowflakes using Double Sided Adhesive Paper and added White Silk Microfine Glitter over each of the three snowflakes. I then layered them using foam tape and added a Gold/Silver Glitter Dot to the center.

Before adding the snowflake to the centre circle I die cut a circle/fancy label from White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz and then embossed this using the Lots of Dots Embossing Folder.

    ECDWhiteonWhite4-wm

Around each of the outer edges of the accordion pages I added frames using the Square with Circle Frame Edges for the circle pages and Fancy Frame Edges for the Fancy Label page.

For the centre page I added a sentiment using silver ink.

To finish off the card I added small snowflakes randomly around the frames. For these snowflakes I used Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.

    ECDWhiteonWhite-wm

Here is my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Don’t forget to check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

    Snowy Christmas

    C4C204-RibbonTree1-wm

    Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. This week our September challenge hostess Cindy Haffner continues to bring us a fun challenge.

For our challenge this week Cindy has challenged us to create a card that is White on White, it may have a colored image if you wish.

    C4C204-RibbonTree3-wm

About a month ago Karen Burniston shared a video tutorial on how to create a floating floor using the Sizzix Pop N Cuts Ribbon Tree insert. I decided to use her tutorial to create my card for today’s White on White challenge.

    C4C204-RibbonTree2-wm

For my card I used a combination of white card stock and white glitter paper to get the white on white effect. We were allowed to use color on our images if we wanted so I did add the orange to the carrot noised of my snowmen. The snowmen are from the Warmest Wishes Stamp/Die set from There  She Goes.

To get the layers on the ribbon trees, I used the coordinating Sizzlits die which is included in the Noel Sizzlits set.

    C4C204-RibbonTree5-wm

Here is another view of the inside of my card this time from over the top so you can see all the elements I used on the card. This isn’t the easiest card to photograph.

    C4C204-RibbonTree-wm

And finally let’s not forget the front of the card which is the first thing the recipient sees when they get the card. Again I kept everything in shades of white using a combination of the white card and white glitter card.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.
