Fight Like A Girl!

It’s Wednesday which means it’s time for this week’s Wednesday Stamp Club sketch over on the MFT Stamps Member Forum of SCS. This week we are up to sketch #43 and what a fun sketch it is

For my card this week I used MFT Stamps à la modes - Fight like a Girl which is another of the 3 stamp sets MFT Stamps release in October to help support the fight of Cancer. I have used the Die-namics Dog Tag to add the sentiment to my card.

 

Here is the  inside of my card. I added one of the sentiments from the set and also stamped the à la modes girl in the lower left hand corner of my card. I used the Die-namics Simply Scallops Medium along the top of my card.

Great Friends, Good Times, Warm Hearts!

It’s that time again when the MFT Stamps designs team begins showing our MFTeasers in preparation of the new stamps which will be released by MFT Stamps after the release party this coming Tuesday 1st November.

Today the Design Team are featuring the WTG Gets Cozy with Cocoa stamp set which is being released. WTG is already for Christmas in my card today … I have paper pieced her jumper using a Christmas themed designer paper.

I have used 4 Die-namics on the front of my card, two of which are new released dies … first up the Die-namic Loopy Bloom … I so love this new die-namic die … I had been hoping we would get something like this! The edge of the triangle piece uses the new Die-namics Icicles Border another die I have been hoping for! The WTG is layered using the Die-namics Dainty Doily Duo and finally the Die-namics Leafy Flourish.

Here is the inside of my card. I used another of the sentiments from the WTG Gets Cozy with Cocoa stamp set and the Die-namics Icicles Border & Die-namics Dainty Doily Duo dies.

It’s time for another Pretties Wednesday Challenge over on the Paper Pretties Blog. This week the challenge is to embellish our cards … you can use brads, eyelets, flowers, bling etc.

I decided to play with Paper Pretties Cowboy Cooper this week, as it has been a little while since he has seen ink and I do adore this stamp set. For the embellishment part of the challenge I added a star brad over the star on his vest. I also added 3 eyelets to the striped panel above Cooper (shock horror … it has been so long since I have used eyelets on a card). I threaded brown twine through the holes of the eyelets for a bit of added interest.

Here is the inside of my card … I used another of the sentiments from this set.

Creative Chat–Organising Designer Papers

It's time for the MFT Creative Chat. I am loving this new feature that the MFT Stamps Design Team are doing each month, it has given me the opportunity to look at how I organise my supplies and see if there is anyway I can improve things. I have totally changed how I store my Die-namics after our first Creative chat and was able to take the best from what the other Design Teams shared with us all to get a set up that works for me and I love it.

This month we are talking about Designer papers and I have a ton of those both in 12” x 12” and the 6” x 6” paper pads which are becoming increasingly popular. I have to admit I much prefer to use the 6” x 6” paper pads when I am making cards these days as the design is a better size for card making. But I still love my larger papers for things like boxes, books and larger items I might use.

Anyway this month I have created another video to show you how I organise my patterned paper and scrap patterned paper. I hope you enjoy it.

Rebus–“Q” Words

Hi all,

It is time for another rebus swap to share with you all. This month we are continuing our journey through the alphabet and we have finally reached the letter “Q”.  This wasn’t a letter I was looking forward to doing as I thought it would be too hard, but as you can see I managed to get my usual amount of words on my card which surprised me.

I Carrots Your Birthday!

Yes it is Saturday! So it’s time for another challenge with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Our challenge hostess Tammy Hershberger is continuing to challenge us this month!

Our challenge is …. One-Layer CAS – cards with the base of the card as the only “layer” today! Only exception is cutting out images and/or one die-cut embellishment.

Now CAS cards are definitely a challenge for me and one-layer CAS cards even more of a challenge … I normally hate the cards I create when I have to make them for challenges. But I must say, this is the happiest I have ever been when I have finished making a one-layer card. I used Kraft card as the base of my card and as we were allowed to cut out an image, I stamped my rabbit on both my Kraft base and some white card and cut out the white piece and adhered it over the Kraft base image. I kept everything flat which is something I normally don’t do either. I scored some lines at the top and right side of the card and added a sentiment.

Here is the inside of my card .. the basket of carrots was included in the stamp set with the rabbit, but the sentiment I used on my card was one I found in my stash I didn’t know I had until I went looking for a sentiment in my stamp catalogue … it’s one I got from Hambo Stamps years ago, it works so well with that rabbit don’t you think?

You’re A Hoot!

Hi all!

It’s challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Our challenge hostess for October Shirley Quarry has another fun challenge for us.

This week we had to create a card with a fall scene or something related to fall. Well hopefully this qualifies! This stamp set includes a sentiment that says Happy Fall so I figured I was safe although I decided I would use another of the sentiments from the set. I am sure you can all guess why I purchased this set hehe … you guessed it because of the owl! I paper pieced the girls coat and created the scene using the bushes also included in the set. I added some leaves in the top left corner of my card to make sure I covered the fall theme hehe!

The layout used for my card is a recent Sweet Stop sketch (SSS128).

Here is the inside of my card … I love this sentiment, it works well for a birthday.

Have Hope!

It’s Wednesday which means it’s time for this week’s Wednesday Stamp Club sketch over on the MFT Stamps Member Forum of SCS. This week we are up to sketch #42 which I am sure you will love.

For my card this week I used MFT Stamps Pure Innocence Have Hope stamp set which was released earlier in the month. I have also used 2 MFT Die-namics on this card, these are the Die-namics Prima Donna Petals and the Die-namics Ticket Tab.

MFT Stamps have released three stamp sets this month in support of those affected by cancer; Who’s that Girl Chooses Hope, a la modes Fight Like a Girl, and Pure Innocence Have Hope.

Did you know that in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, MFT has pledged a $1500 donation to MD Anderson Cancer Centre.  You can read more about this and what else MFT is doing on a thread over on Splitcoast  Stampers which you can find HERE.

It’s time for another Pretties Wednesday Challenge over on the Paper Pretties Blog. This week the challenge is a color challenge … we had to use black & white plus one color.

When I was going through my stash of paper pads I discovered one from Authenique which had shades of yellow, gray & black all through it so I decided that yellow would be a fun color for a change. It’s not a color I use a lot of anymore.

I used Paper Pretties “Go Team” for my card today and colored her using shades of yellow and black. Isn’t she a cutie!

I decided to turn this into a birthday card, as I am always in need of birthday cards and as Christmas is getting closer I know I am going to need to find heaps of birthday cards in my stash to give away to family for Christmas. This sentiment is from Paper Pretties Sock Monkey stamp set.

I knew when I saw this set, that I wanted to create something mug related, I remembered this mug shaped card that I made years ago so started creating that … then I remembered the other mug that you see in my first pic … and couldn’t decide which one I wanted to do so as you can see I ended up creating both of them.

To make the mug shaped card I folded a piece of blue card so it was 10.5cm wide x 12 cm high when folded. I used circle & oval nestabilities to create the shape at the top and the handles. I then lined the inside so it looked like cocoa.

For the WTG image I paper pieced her jumper, scarf & gloves … I love this designer paper I used for this … doesn’t that look like it could have been a real knitted jumper . I layered the image using the Die-namics Dainty Doily Duo and also used the Die-namics Dainty Lace Border along the bottom border of the card.

Here is the inside of my mug shaped card. I used the Die-namics Sweet Stack Labels for my sentiment. I also added the mug of cocoa which is included in the stamp set.

Next I created this 3D mug using my scor-pal, I found the directions on how to make this on the Scor-pal site but I changed the measurements to suit this image … my score lines around the coffee mug are all 1 1/4 inches apart while the one in the directions was only 1 inch. My mug stands 4 1/4 inches tall when finished … so I also changed the height details in the directions. It isn’t hard to change to suit your own needs.

The WTG image is the same as on my mug shaped card. I put some cocoa & marshmallows in two different clear bags and then tied them together using the new Die-namic Loopy Blooms die … I gotta say I LOVE LOVE LOVE this new flower Die-namics. It is so easy to create, I cut mine out using My Favorite Felt – Cherry on Top. Just cut, fold and roll it is that easy!!!!!!!!!!

Here is one more pic of my mug so you can see the loopy bloom flower a little better. There is also a packet of tiny marshmallows behind the cocoa … guess I should have turned the pack around a little so you could see both.
