Wishing You a Fairy ....

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. As challenge hostess for the month, I continue to issue the challenges.

Our challenge this week is .....
Ombre
Definition - a french word meaning "shaded". Ombre is the gradual blending of one color hue to another, usually moving tints and shades from light to dark.

The ombre technique has become very popular in stamping over the past few years. Use this technique in some way when creating your card this week.

Here are a few links to YouTube videos for inspiration:
Ombre Stamping- Jennifer McGuire
Easy Ombre Backgrounds– Jennifer McGuire
Ombre Background Stamping– Yana Smakula

Original I started making this card for tomorrow, as apparently it is "Fairy Day", however half way through I discovered this would fit for today's challenge so decided to use it for today instead.

I used Karen Burniston's Circle Charm Pop-up die set. To create the ombre background, I sponged on Tattered Lace; Warm Lipstick and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide ink in ombre fashion. And spritz with water from a Distress Sprayer. On the top half of the background I added hearts using Honey Bee Stamps Fall Showers Stencil set.

After creating the backgrounds, I die cut the panels using the Rectangles Crosshatch die set.

The circle frames around the opening and the back panel of the card are die cut using the Circles Crosshatch die set.

The fairy is an old one from my stash from The Greeting Farm.

I used Simon Says Stamp Center Cut Flowers stamp for the flowers, cutting out the flowers and adding to the bottom of each panel.

The "fairy" birthday sentiment is from on older Paper Pretties stamp set, which is no longer available.

Here is one more photo of my card taken from over head.

Let's Shellabrate

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I have another pop-up card I created recently using Karen Burniston's Cupcake Pop-up Card die set. I have been using this die a lot lately as a generic die to pop up my stamped and die cut images.

This card started by playing with the Hero Arts Deco Pattern Stencil which I used to sponge two colors of pink Distress Oxides onto. This pattern although not a shell almost looks like one so I decided to use it with this cute mermaid from The Greeting Farm.

To hide the cupcake pop-up I used the shell from the Honey Bee Stamps Seashell Card die set which I colored again using Distress Oxides in various shades of pink and the decorative overlay was die cut in white and then embossed using Silver Pearl Embossing Powder.

I added a couple of sentiments from the Honey Bee Stamps Mermaid Song Stamp set.

The decorative trim between the pink cardstock and the stencil panel is from Karen Burniston's Cake Trims die set and then Nuvo Drops were added to the upswing portions of the trim.

I repeated many of the elements I used on the inside of the card on the outside. The sentiment is stamped using Distress Oxide ink and then embossed using Silver Pearl Embossing Powder.

Supplies:

Stamps:  Trishell - The Greeting Farm; Mermaid Song - Honey Bee Stamps
Paper: White; Pale Pink; Bright Pink
Dies: Cupcake Pop-up Card; Cake Trims - Karen Burniston;  Seashell Card - Honey Bee Stamps; Dashing Squares - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Other: Black Ink; Tattered Rose Distress Oxide; Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide; Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide; Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide; VersaMark Ink;  Silver Pearl Embossing Powder; Hero Arts Deco Pattern Stencil; Nuvo Bubblegum Blush Gloss Crystal Drops; Nuvo Carnation Pink Gloss Crystal Drops; Foam Tape; Copics

Birthday Wishes

Hi everyone,

Today I have another card using one of the backgrounds I created when I was playing with my new Distress Ink Pads.

For this card I applied the various colors of Distress Oxide Ink directly onto card in rainbow order. After all the colors were on the card I then used a paintbrush and water to wash over all the colors and finally spritzed some water onto the background using a spray water bottle.

I recently saw a card on line created by Diane Zechman which I liked so I used that for the inspirations of the layout of this card.

The image is an older The Greeting Farms stamps I have had for a while, I had stamped and colored it recently so it was waiting for a card to be put on to and the colors of the background worked with the colors I used on the mouse.

For the inside of the card, I added another strip from the Distress Oxide background I had created and a birthday sentiment.

Stamps: Library Mouse - The Greeting Farm; Special Birthday - Hero Arts; Birthday Mia (birthday sentiment outside) - Some Odd Girl
Paper: White; Black
Dies: ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Other: Black Ink; Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide, Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide, Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide, Peeled Paint Distress Oxide, Broken China Distress Oxide, Wilted Violet Distress Oxide, Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape - ECD; Sequins; Foam Tape; Copics

Believe it's Magic

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce our new challenge hostess for the month, which is me!!!!

According to the Days of the Year web site, Thursday 2nd March was World Book Day. For our challenge this week take your inspiration for making your card from a book ... adults or children's book whatever you prefer.

As you can see I have chosen Peter Pan as the inspiration for my card.

Earlier in the month I was reorganising my clear and unmounted stamps, it was a lot of work but I now have easier access to a lot more of my stamps. While I was getting the stamps organised in their new homes I came upon this fun The Greeting Farm stamp set called Never Ever. As soon as I saw the stamp set I knew it would be perfect for the challenge.

As you can see I have created a Double Z Fold Pop Up Card. Along the bottom portion of the Z Fold I used the clouds die from the CountryScape Clouds & Grass die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I also added the Away with Words - Believe sentiment to the cloud and added the "it's magic" sentiment which is from the stamp set.

I added clouds on the back section for the Z Fold cards so that it would look like the Peter Pan, Wendy and Tinkerbell were flying in the clouds.

I computer generated the sentiment "Flying by with a birthday hi!" and then die cut it  using the ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners.

Here is a close up view of the middle part of my card which is a box shape. Along the two sides I added some London die cut images from an Xcut Build Scene London die set I had to buy when my daughter went to London about two years ago, I am glad I finally found a use for it haha!

I added a couple of 'bridge' pieces to which I added another cloud and Wendy, so she looks like she is also flying (even if she is reading a book).

Finally here is a look at my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

“Sea”ing You Makes Me Smile!

C4C194-SeaingYou-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. This week Andrea Murdock continues to bring us the challenges for July.

For our challenge this week Andrea has challenged us with the theme … Marine Life! Let’s see your Aquatic themed cards.

You have all probably figured by now that I LOVE Karen Burniston’s Pop N Cuts dies by Sizzix so this week I decided to use these to create my card. This was a fun card to create Smile.

On the outside of my card I have used the Mermaid from The Greeting Farm, it is one I have had in my stash for ages. I used the La La Land Crafts Palm Tree to create the seaweed behind the mermaid …. I die cut the palm tree twice and placed it on either side of her. The sentiment is one from Rubbernecker.

C4C194-SeaingYou2-wm

Here is the inside of my card. As you can see I created an underwater scene using the Sizzix Pop N Cuts Circle Label insert as the base. I again used the mermaid and the palm tree for the seaweed behind the mermaid.

As you can see in the photo above … I have added a floating floor to my card so I could have the fish and clam in the front of the mermaid also pop up … You can find the template for the Floating Floor on Karen Burniston’s blog … she also has a You Tube video explaining how to do this … it is very easy to do.

All the fish and sentiment used on the inside are by Rubbernecker.
