Karen Burniston August Designer Challenge Card 2

KBDCOwlSUwm

Hi everyone,

As promised yesterday I am back today with another card for this month’s Karen Burniston’s Designer Challenge. This time round the theme Karen has given us is Hoppy, Poppy & Chilly - any theme, any style, any type of project (pop-up, or flat, or 3D or party favor or layout or ...?) using the character/animal dies.

Check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen Burniston will have another of her amazing video tutorials for us.

KBDCOwlSU2wm

For my card today I have created a Stand Up Card using the tutorial written by Karen Aicken for the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog recently.

As you can see I have used Poppy the Owl diecutting the overlay layer from designer paper. I also used the All Seasons Tree which I have turned on it's side to turn it into a branch for Poppy to sit on. The leaves on the branch were created using the Curvy Leaves die.

The Happy Birthday Stand Up Helper die was used to create the stand up part of the card. I die cut this on the card base and then also in rust so that I could overlay it over the brown base.

On the inside of my card I added a couple of sentiments. The "Hoot Hoot Hoo-ray!" was stamped onto one of the labels from the Katie Label Pivot Card die set.

The "You're a Hoot!" sentiment is stamped onto the speech bubble from the Lorna Label Pop-Up die set.

Here is my card closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Karen Burniston August Designer Challenge Card 1

IMG_7175

Hi everyone,

It's time for our August Karen Burniston Designer Challenge, this time round the theme Karen has given us is Hoppy, Poppy & Chilly - any theme, any style, any type of project (pop-up, or flat, or 3D or party favor or layout or ...?) using the character/animal dies.

For my card today I have created a Circle Spiral Pull Card ... While looking through some of my older designer paper pads I discovered this fun fly paper so I knew I needed to use it with Hoppy the Frog. To create Hoppy I used Light Green, Black & Red Velvet Adhesive Sheets. The lips were created using the lip die from the Props 1 Set

The lily pad was created using the small oval in the Katie Label Accordion Card set. After die cutting the oval I then placed one of the Katie Labels onto the front of the oval and put this through the die cutting machine to get a lily shape.

On the spiral portion of my card I added lily flowers and flies which are also included in the Hoppy the Frog die set.

I also added a couple of frog theme sentiments to my card to finish it off.

If you are looking to purchase Karen's Pop It Ups dies in Australia you can find them at Photo Continental.

Don't forget to check out the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month. I will also be back  tomorrow with another card to share with you for this challenge.

Trick or Treat!

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a few Halloween cards using The Stamps of Life's CandyCorn2Cut stamp set. This stamp set includes an outline stamp of a candy corn; three different patterned candy corns to decorate the three different sections of the candy corn plus the complete alphabet that you can stamp into the middle section of the candy corn. Plus you get a Candy Corn die so you can die cut all your candy corns .... cool ha!

For my first card today I created a Stand-Ups card using the Sizzix Royal Stand-Ups Flip-Its Framelits. I stamped out 12 candy corn outline images and then decorated the bottom section of the candy corn with one of the patterns which comes in the stamp set and then added the letters to spell our "TRICK OR TREAT" to the middle section. I added each candy corn to some hemp cord and then added them to my card.

Here is my card closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

For my next card I again made a Stand-Up card but this time using the Sizzix Circle Stand-Ups Card Bigz Die.

This time round I decided to decorate the candy corns with a couple of the different patterns included in the set and used colors that worked with the designer paper .... I guess these days candy corns can come in different colors. I am not a candy corn expert as we don't have them in Australia.

I also added a couple of sentiments to  my card which are from the chalksayings2stamp stamp set.

To hold all the Candy Corns I used the new Strawberry Basket Die which was released last month.

And here is my card closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

For my final card today I created a Flip-Its card using the Sizzix Triple Fancy Frame Flip-Its Card Framelits. I stamped the letters to spell 'BOO' to the middle sections of the candy corns.

Here is the 'flip' side of my card, I have left the centre flip section blank so a message can be written in this part.

For my card this week I decided to play with some new stamps/dies I ordered from Simon Says Stamp recently ... You are Pawesome stamp set.

The dog and the sentiment at the bottom are all layered onto one of the labels from the Lorna Labels Pop Up set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

C4C249Pawesome2wm

As you can see I had to turn my card into a pop up :) ... I used the Lorna Label Pop Up Card die set to create this.

I also used one of the edges from the Agatha Edges set to decorate the top and bottom of the card.

Here is a side on view of the inside of my card, so that you can see the pop up details a little easier.

Goodbye & Good Luck!

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This week Amber Hillman continues to issue the challenges.

Apparently Amber's oldest daughter heads off to college on the 15th... a whole 8 1/2 hrs away from them. So let's make a card saying goodbye. Can be a sympathy card or a safe trip/farewell card. Something that has to do with saying goodbye.

I recently purchased this cute A Random Fan Travel Bug Stamp and I knew I just had to use this for today's challenge.

Of course as you can see I created a pop up card using the Lot's of Pops Pop Up die set designed byKaren Burniston for Elizabeth Crafts Designs.

To create the road I used one of the edges from the Outdoor Edges die set die cutting on side of my card first and then the other side. Then I drew the white lines down the middle using a white pen.

Along the top edge of my card I used the Paper Smooches Quotables Die and added a sentiment which I thought would be appropriate for a College Goodbye card or similar.

For the front of my card I computer generated a greeting .... oops! can you see the typo???? Fortunately this card isn't going to anyone at this stage, but as I only discovered the typo when I started writing up my blog post I am not changing it right now.

Stamps: A Random Fan Travel Bug - CC Designs

Paper: White; Pink; Family Traditions DP - Webster's Pages; Cool Summer DP - Carta Bella

Dies: Lots of Pops Pop-Up; Outdoor Edges - designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs; Quotables - Paper Smooches; Sequins - MFT Stamps

Other: Black Ink; Faber Castell White Pitt Pen; White Shimmer Sheetz; Button; Twine; Foam Tape; Copics

A Friend Is …

IMG_7173

 Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a Centre Step Card I created. It seems a long time since I have made one of these styles of cards, so I decided to get my die out and play.

I used the Penny Black stamp A Friend Is, which I purchased recently.

IMG_7174

Here is a side on view of my card so that you can see the folds a little better. The sentiment at the top of the card also comes with the stamp so I decided to add that too.

IMG_7168

Here is the inside of my card. I used a couple of Simon Says Stamp stamp sets and a die set to decorate the inside of my card.

Stamps: A Friend Is – Penny Black; Birthday Messages; You Are Pawesome – Simon Says Stamp
Paper: White; Pink; Bow & Arrow DP – Kaisercraft
Other: Black Ink; Cheery Lynn Designs Step Card 1 Die; W Plus 9 X0X0X0 Die; Cat & Dog Pawesome Die – Simon Says Stamp; MFT Die-namics Fishtail Flags; Pearls; Foam Tape; Copics

Fishy Fishy!

IMG_7170

Hi everyone,

It's time for another CHF challenge over on the Cornish Heritage Farms Blog.  This week the challenge is hosted by Kristine Reynolds.

This time round our challenge is a Water Theme.

For my card today I used Cornish Heritage Farms Fish Digital Stamp and Jellyfish Digital Stamp.

To create my card I resized and flipped the fish images in Photoshop Elements and placed them randomly on the page. I then turned the jellyfish upside down and used the jellyfishes tentacles for the seaweed.

I masked the fish and used a wave stencil to add the sea.

    Ahoy!

    IMG_7169

    Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a card I created which is a different style of Stand Up Card. Karen Aicken posted a tutorial on how to create this style of card a few weeks ago over on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

    IMG_7167

The size of my card is slightly different to Karen’s as I used the Australian card size when making this … it meant I was able to use Elizabeth Crafts Designs Happy Birthday Stand Up Helper Die in the centre portion of my card.

The image used for my card are from Penny Black.

    IMG_7166

Here is my card when the top stand up part of the card is open, I added some more designer paper and a sentiment and the cute dog which were both from the same stamp set.

Stamps: Ahoy Stamp Set – Penny Black
Paper: White; Red; Navy; Anchored DP - Authentique
Dies: Happy Birthday Stand Up Helper – Elizabeth Craft Designs; Sea Charms – MFT Stamps
Other: Black Ink; Foam Tape; Copics

    More Chalk Sayings

    Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a few cards I have created using The Stamps of Life's Morechalksayings2stamp stamp set which coordinates with the Banner Die set which was released last month.

For my first card I have created a Hidden Panel Flip-its Card using the Sizzix Elegant Flip-its Card Framelits. Stephanie Barnard has a video explaining how to create this style of card on her Youtube channel which you can find here.

I decorated my card using the Owls2love and Moreowls2stamp stamp sets. You can see my card is open but there is yet another fold to open up :)

And finally here is my card in the fully open position. I love how this card turned out!

For my second card today, I have created a Stand-Up card using the Sizzix Royal Stand-Ups Card Framelits.

Here is a side view of my card so you can see the Stand-Up portion of the card a little better.

And finally here is my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

For my last card for the day, I have created a Flip-Its card using the Sizzix Majestic Flips-Its Card Bigz Die. I used the Chalkboard Technique when stamping the sentiments for this card.

Here is the 'flip' side of my card using another of the sentiments in the morechalksayings2stamp stamp set.

Stamps: Morechalkingsayings2stamp - The Stamps of Life

Paper: White; Cream; Black; Teal; Brown; Pink; Enchanted Garden DP - Bo Bunny; Bow & Arrow DP - Kaisercraft

Dies: TSOL Banner Dies; Sizzix Elegant Flip-Its Card Framelits; Sizzix Elegant Label Framelits; Royal Stand-Ups Card Framelits; Sizzix Royal Labels Framelits; Sizzix Majestic Flip-Its Card Bigz Die; Sizzix Majestic Label Framelits

Other: Black Ink; Versamark ink; White Embossing Powder; Button; Hemp Cord; Foam Tape
