It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. As challenge hostess for the month, I continue to issue the challenges.

Today is Vinyl Record Day! For many Vinyl Records are a thing of the past, but in recent years they have started to make a big comeback with even new albums being released. For our challenge this week it's all about music … bonus points if you included an image of a vinyl record on your card. 

It's been a month or so since I have played with my Missees paper doll dies, so I decided to pull them out to create the girl for my card inspired by the girls from the 50's & 60's.

As you can see, I created a Slimline card using slimline dies from Picket Fence Studios to create the layers.

To create my vinyl record background, I used dies from SugarPea Designs Greatest Hits Stamp/Die sets. I added a smaller record to the girls hand which was also created using this die set.

I added a sentiment to the card using a Honey Bee Stamps stamp set. This was stamped onto a speech bubble using one of the dies from Whimsy Stamps Comic Speech Bubbles die set.

I created a double pop-up for the inside of my card using the pop-up mechanism from Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up die set. As vinyl records are round I added circle dies to each of the labels.

On the top circle I added a sentiment from one of the Honey Bee Stamps stamp set along with the birthday sentiment from the SugarPea Designs stamps set.

On the bottom circle pop-up I added a record being held by a hand, cutting of the arm so it can't be seen when the card is closed.

I used the record die from the SugarPea Designs die set to add the border along each side of the card.

Oldie but Goodie

Apparently today, 12th August is Vinyl Record Day. If you are an oldie like me, I am sure you remember these which btw are making a big comeback these days. Vinyl records have become very popular again.

Recently my friend Karen Aicken was very excited that she had figured out how to convert Karen Burniston's Triple Flip die set to create a single flip. This means it is perfect for all those larger stamps and die we own. You can see Karen's card here.

As you can probably figure, I loved the idea and had to try it out myself. Rather than inserting the three tables into the Triple Flip panel, you just need to inside the end tab and then sandwich a large rectangle to the tab. I used a rectangle from the Crosshatch - Rectangles die set. In Karen Burniston's assembly video she recommends foam tape at the top and bottom of the large flip panel which I find helps the mechanism flip easily. 

Karen Aicken also suggested adding a 1/2 inch piece of foam tape just above and below the right hand side of the flip tab, this helps the tab keep straight rather than wanting to slip down. This is only for when you are adding a single flip rather than the triple where the other two tabs going into the main panel deals with this issue.

Over the last 6 months or so I seem to have accumulated a number of vinyl record themed stamps and dies so seeing it is Vinyl Record Day today, I decided to pull some of those out to create this card.

On the front of my card I used MFT Stamps Turntable die set along with the For the Record stamp set for the sentiment. 

When you pull the tab on the right hand side, the rectangle panel flips open to reveal music themed sentiments and some smaller records (singles or EP's).

The smaller die cut records & music notes are from Sugar Pea Designs Greatest Hits die set and the sentiments are from Honey Bee Stamps For the Record stamp set.

For the inside of my card I added two more rectangles from the Crosshatch - Rectangles die set.

I added another sentiment from the Honey Bee Stamps stamp set and the larger record is again from Sugar Pea Designs Greatest Hits stamp and coordinating die set.

Seaside Wishes

Today I am sharing another beach themed card with you all.

For the beach background of this card I started by die cutting MFT Stamps Beach Scene Builder from white cardstock. I used partial die cutting on the area which is the sand, so that it could be taller than it normally would be. I then used the Palm Tree Border die from Lawn Fawn to create the curved portion at the top of the sand and also to add the palm trees.

I added color to each of the panels by adding distress oxide inks. I also stamped a ripple stamp I have had in my stash for years to the ocean at the bottom of my card.

The elephant images and other beach images all come from Mama Elephant's Summer Splash Clear Stamp set.

I again used MFT Stamps Beach Scene Builder Die-namics to create the ocean area at the bottom of the card and applied distress oxide inks for the sand and sky area directly to the card base.

The palm trees I added to the back panel are also from the Beach Scene Builder Die-namics. I added a few left over images that I had stamped/colored from the front.

I created the pop up sentiment using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up die set adding sentiments from SugarPea Designs Seaside Wishes Clear Stamp set.

Hope Your Birthday Is A Hit

Welcome to our May Paper Pros challenge. This month our challenge is hosted by me, and I challenged everyone to .....

Back to Basic Shapes - Many of Karen’s die sets contain the name of a basic shape in it .... Oval; Circle; Square & Rectangle etc. Use at least one die set that includes one of those shapes in it’s name for your card.

I decided to create another Rockin' Rectangle Pop-up card using the acetate window on the front. You can find Karen's tutorial on how to create this style of card here.

I have purchased a couple of different record themed stamp and die sets this year and I have had this idea brewing for a little while. Vinyl Records & Record Players have become very popular in recent years.

For the background of my card I used used the large vinyl record stamp from SugarPea Designs Greatest Hits Stamp set, stamping the records using black ink and then stamping the inner section using colors of the rainbow.

For the record player I used the coordinating dies to the stamp set. The rectangle panel included in the Rockin' Rectangle Pop-up die set was too long for the mechanism to work properly turning the rectangle on it's side, so I used Hero Arts Infinity Rounded Rectangle dies putting the card back into the die to make the length a little bit shorter.

I added a sentiment to the left side of the card.

I created a border of smaller records which I added to the side panel on the front of the card.  The easiest way to get these even was to adhere them to a black piece of cardstock the same length as the card, lining up the edge of the records with the edge of the card. I then trimmed around this and added half records to the back to the portion that would be seen through the acetate when the card was opened.

To finish off the card, I added a birthday sentiment.

Today I have another Reveal Wheel card to share with you that I made recently using Lawn Fawn's Reveal Wheel die set and Sugar Pea Designs Barn to be Wild Clear Stamp set.

Here is a quick video showing my card in actions.

This card was a lot easier to make then the first one I made a week or two ago, as I knew what I was doing this time. 

I did use the word "herd" to describe a group of sheep ... to me it is a flock of sheep, but when I googled this it can also be a herd, so that helped fill in two of the spaces I needed to have a sentiment for on the wheel. That is the hardest part of this card, finding sentiments that go with the theme and fit in the space.

For the inside of the card, I continued with the farm scene with the images and added a couple of sentiments from the stamp set.

Skating By To Say

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Maryann Einam our challenge hostess for the month finishes off the month with one last challenge.

Our challenge this week is a Play on words - Create a card using these words for inspiration .... "Skating on thin ice"

As soon as I saw the lantern die from SugarPea Designs I knew I had to have it in my collection. I finally received as a Christmas present a few months ago. This is the first chance I have gotten to play with it and thought it would be fun to create a skating scene inside the lantern using MFT Stamps You Make My Heart Melt stamp set.

As you can see I have created a Tri Shutter Card using a die from Tattered Lace.

On the centre sentiment panel as the sentiment was very small, I added another image from the stamp set and the sentiment.

Here is a look at my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

You Quack Me Up!

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is Lois Bak.

Apparently today (May 4th) is National Candied Orange Peel Day. To celebrate, let's include the color orange on our cards.

I thought it was about time I played with the Sliding Card dies I received in March for my birthday. 

I used the SugarPea Designs Quackers stamp set to decorate my card. To allow for the extra layers of cardstock in the panel in the centre which extends when you pull the sides. I added three layers of the sliding frame to each side to make it easier to slide.




I also used the Memory Box Splashing Puddles die to create the pond on the centre panel.

You Quack me Up!

Hi everyone,

I am playing with a new stamp set I received recently from SugarPea Designs ... just love these cute little ducks! I decided to pull out the Splashing Puddles die from Memory Box to use on this card, this is a die I searched high and low for, for ages, and then didn't use it arghhhhh!!!! Well I finally have. 

I used my Scan and Cut to cut out all the stamped images. and die cut the Splashing Puddles background using some designer paper, it looks like a rainy day which is what it is trying to do here right now. 

I added a sentiment to the top left hand corner of the card layering it to one of the ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

For the inside of the card I added the negative pieces from the Splashing Puddles die which I die cut from white card and then colored using Copics. I added another of the cute ducks between the puddles.

Finally I added another of the sentiments from the stamp set.

Oceans of Love

Today I am sharing a Flip-its card using the Sizzix Majestic Flip-its Card Bigz die. To decorate my card I used the cute stamp set from Sugar Pea Designs.

Here is the 'flip' side of my card. I have added two of the sentiments from the stamp set plus a couple of shells and crabs also included in the set.

On the inside of the card I used a birthday sentiment from another fish themed stamp set and also stamped a fish in the lower left hand corner of the card.

Love You to the Moon and Back

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This week Sabrina our challenge hostess for February continues to bring us fun challenges.

Interesting, because February is a short month, there can actually be years in which there is no full moon at all. The last time this happened was in 1999, the next time will be 2018. So while this isn't one of those years for our challenge this week we are to feature the moon on our cards.

I have had this cute little girl sitting on her bed looking out the window for a few months now and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to ink it up :).  The window is blank so you can put whatever you like there, but the set also includes the tiny moon and stars so I decided to add them to create a night sky.

It has been a while since I have created a combo accordion card so the Star and Circle Accordion Card die sets designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs were calling to me to use them in a combo Accordion Card.

The sentiment on the star panel didn't quite fit, so with a little bit of cutting of my clear stamp I was able to get the whole sentiment to fit into the star.
