Merry Christmas

Hi everyone,

Today I have a tutorial on how to create the Christmas card above using products from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

For the background of this card I used three different widths of Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape and Silk Microfine Glitter.

Here's how I created my card:

1. Cut a piece of white card slightly larger than what you want the finished background to be. For my card I cut it 4 1/2 inches x 6 inches.
  • Adhere a strip of 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape diagonally across the white card which is approximately 4 1/4 inches on the long edge and 3 inches on the short edge.
  • Place a strip of 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the left side of the first strip of tape.
  • Place a strip of 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape next to the 6mm tape.
  • Continue alternating the different widths of tape until the left side is completely covered.

  • Next place a strip of 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape diagonally across the opposite direction of the card so that one end of the tape butts up to the adhesive tape already on the card.
  • Continue adding the various widths of Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on either side of the adhesive tape until it is completely covered.

2. Remove the release sheet from one strip of adhesive tape on the card and then every other fifth strip on the card. Cover the adhesive with True Red Silk Microfine Glitter. Remove excess glitter and return to the jar, polish the glitter into the card using  fingers.
  • Remove the release sheet from the strips of adhesive tape to the left of the red glittered strips. Cover the adhesive with Forest Green Silk Microfine Glitter.  Remove excess glitter and return to the jar, polish the glitter into the card using  fingers.
  • Remove the release sheet from the strips of adhesive tape to the right of the red glittered strips. Cover the adhesive with Go to Green Silk Microfine Glitter.  Remove excess glitter and return to the jar, polish the glitter into the card using  fingers.
  • Remove the release sheet from the strips of adhesive tape to the left of the Go To Green glittered strips. Cover the adhesive with Bright Cranberry Silk Microfine Glitter.  Remove excess glitter and return to the jar, polish the glitter into the card using  fingers.
  • Remove the remaining release sheet from adhesive tape. Cover the adhesive with Sea Glass Silk Microfine Glitter. Remove excess glitter and return to jar. Polish the glitter into the card using your fingers.

3. Cut down the card so it measures 5 inches x 3 3/4 inches, ensuring that you remove any rough glittered edges from the card.
  • Using Black Assorted Borders Peel Off Stickers, randomly add these lines to the card wherever you see white space in the card or whatever looks pleasing to you.

4. Cut a piece of red card that measures 5 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches. Score the card at 4 1/4 inches and fold in half.
  • Cut a piece of green card that measures 5 1/4 inches x 4 inches.  Layer to the front of the folded red card.
  • Adhesive the glittered background piece we created in the above steps to the front of the green card.

5. Cut a piece of white card and a piece of Clear Double Sided Tape Sheet that are approx 3 1/2inches square. Remove the release sheet from one side of the tape sheet and set it aside upside down on your desk (shiny side up). Adhere the Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the piece of white card.
  •  From the Winter Birds Circles Peel-Off Stickers remove one of the Bird in Circle. Place your Peel Off Sticker sticky side up onto the release sheet that we set aside earlier.
  • Take your white card and place it with the adhesive side facing down onto the release sheet with the Peel-Offs on it. The Peel-Offs will lift from the release sheet and stick to the adhesive on the card stock.
  • Turn your card so the release sheet is now on top. Take off the release sheet making sure not to touch the images on the adhesive.
  • Cover the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and polish the glitter into the card with your finger. You can see a video Els created using this technique here
  • Color your image as desired.
  • Color the edge of the Peel Off Sticker with a black marker.
  • Counting from the smallest die in the Dotted Scallop Circles die set. Die cut the fourth circle from green card.
  • Counting from the smallest die in the Stitched Circles die set. Die cut the fourth circle from red card.
  • Layer the Peel Off Sticker piece to the scallop circle and then to the stitched circle.
  • Adhere to the left side of the card using foam tape.
6. Using the "Merry Christmas" sentiment from the Holiday Sentiments Clear Stamp set. Stamp the sentiment in red ink onto white card.
  • Die cut the sentiment using the smallest label from the Anita Labels Pop Up die set.
  • Die cut the middle label from green cardstock and layer the white sentiment label to the green label.
  • Attach to the top right hand corner of the card.

7. Cut a piece of white cardstock that measures 5 inches x 3 3/4 inches.

  • Roughly trim around the negative Bird in Circle Peel Off Sticker which remains. Peel off any excess black peel-off sticker that may be around your image until you just have the image as per photo above.
  • Cut a piece of Transfer Sheet large enough to fit over the Negative Peel Off Sticker.
  • Remove the protective backing and place the tacky side of the Transfer Sheet onto the negative shapes. Burnish with a bone folder or your fingers and carefully lift the Transfer Sheet checking to ensure that all of the pieces lift at once. You can see Els’ video using this technique HERE
  • Now move the Transfer Sheet with negative shapes attached to it over to the bottom left hand corner of the white card. When it is in the right spot, place it down onto the card and rub the front of the Transfer Sheet to release the pieces onto the card.
  •  Carefully lift the Transfer Sheet to check and make sure all of the negative image pieces are now on the card. (Don’t remove the Transfer sheet until all pieces are in place).
8. Using the "Christmas Greetings" sentiment from the Winter Sentiment Clear Stamp set, stamp the sentiment using red ink to the top right hand corner of the card.
  • Cut a piece of green cardstock that measures 5 1/4 inches x 4 inches. Layer the white panel to the green panel and adhere to the inside of the card.
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.

Wild About You

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a card I created using a few more of the Wild & Free range of dies from Couture Creations. This time round I have created a Double Z Fold Card.

For my card this time I wanted to have a larger rectangle on the front of the card which is where I used the African Silhouette die which I die cut twice from kraft and dark brown cardstocks and layered the brown card over the kraft card.

On the right hand side panel I added the African Savanna Scene which I attached to the card so that the bottom of the grass was level to the top of the horizontal panel.

I added two decorated pieces to the two smaller panels on the horizontal panel.

In the centre panel of the card I added a sentiment.

Here is another view of my card so you can see the folds of the card a little better.

Finally my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Yes you guessed it, today I am sharing yet another card I created recently using the Carved Wood Technique. I definitely had fun creating all these backgrounds.

As you can see I kept this card fairly simile as I didn't want to hid too much of the beauty from the embossing folder.

I did layer another piece of wood card that I created on the diagonal and then I added the A Way with Words - Thanks sentiment which I die cut from white cardstock that had Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front and then added the Light Brown Silk Microfine Glitter over the adhesive.

I didn't bother to decorate the inside of this card but left it blank so a handwritten message could be added to it.

Another Candle

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Maryann Einam  our challenge hostess for the month finishes off the month with one last challenge.

According to the days of the year calendar, today is cake day. So for our challenge this week please add some cake to your card.

For my card this week I decided to pull out an older cake stamp I have in my stash, it is fun to revisit the older stuff every now and then. I used the cake to create a shaker card which I made with the help of my Fuse tool I got last Christmas.

As you probably can also see by the photo above besides being a shaker card it is also a Tri Shutter card using the die from Tattered Lace. I varied the cuts on the first part of the card so I could have a solid panel for the front of the card to fit my shaker onto.

Here is a look at my card when it is closed.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Gingerbread Man Banner

Hi everyone,

It's my turn to post a tutorial on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today. Christmas is now only a month away, and in my family we like to start decorating our house on December 1st. So for my tutorial today I have created a fun decoration using the Gingerbread Man and the Lollypop die sets.

I have made my banner using three Gingerbread Men and four lollypops, but of course you can make yours as long as you want depending on where you wish to use it. I have also made my decoration double sided so it can be hung on a window, doorway etc so looks good whichever side you look at it, this of course is optional depending again on where you will be using the decoration.

Here's how I created my project:

1. Using the Gingerbread Man die set, die cut the following:
  • (3) Solid Gingerbread Men from White Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back
  • (6) Detail Gingerbread Men from White Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back
  • (6) Sets of Icing Trim from White Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back
  • (6) Sets of Buttons from White Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back
Using a blending tool and ink pad add color to all the pieces:
  • Solid Gingerbread Men - add brown ink to both sides of card
  • Detail Gingerbread Men - add brown ink to front of image
  • Eyes & Mouth - add black ink
  • Buttons - add green ink
  • Ribbon - add red ink
  • Icing - leave white.
  • Assemble the Gingerbread Men using the 3 Solid bodies and 3 detail bodies as per photo above. (do not assemble the back at this stage)
2. Using the Lollypop die set, die cut the following:
  • (8) Solid Lollypops from White Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double  Sided Adhesive Tape on the back
  • (8) Pinwheel Lollypop Layer from White Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double  Sided Adhesive Tape on the back
  • (3) Bow from White Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double  Sided Adhesive Tape on the back
Using a blending tool and ink pad add color to all the pieces:
  • Solid Lollypops - leave white
  • Pinwheel Lollypop Layer - add red ink
  • Bows - add red ink
  • Trim off the bump from the Solid Lollypop. Layer the red Pinwheel Layer to white solid lollypop.
  • Use the bows to decorate the Gingerbread we created in step 1.

3. Cut a length of red ribbon long enough to fit all the Lollypops and Gingerbread Men plus enough to tie a loop on each end. (mine is about 20 inches)
  • Tie a loop on one end of ribbon.
  • Remove protection backing from one of the lollypops and lay the ribbon to the centre of the lollypop.
  • Add a strip of Clear Double Sided Tape across the arms of the Gingerbread Man and attach it to the ribbon next to the lollypop.
  • Continue alternating lollypops and Gingerbread Men until you have added all three Gingerbread Men and 4 lollypops.
  • Tie a loop at the other end of the ribbon.

  • Add the remaining Gingerbread Man detail layers and lollypops to the back of the banner.
  • Add a Gold/Silver Glitter Dot Peel Off Sticker to the centre of each lollypop.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.

This Stitch is for You

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog.  As challenge hostess this month I continue to issue the challenges.

Sunday 27th November is Pins and Needles Day which commemorates the opening of a historical Broadway Play called Pins and Needles in 1937.

This week let's create cards with a sewing theme, using either stamps, dies, papers, buttons, pins, needles or any combination of the above.

For my card today I created a pop up card using the Lots of Pops Pop Up Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

To decorate my card I used an image from Alota Rubber Stamps which unfortunately went out of business a number of years ago.

Along the top and bottom of my card I used a zip die to create two zips. I have had this die for sometime and finally got to use it :)

Here is another view of my card so you can see the pop up part of my card a little better.

For the front of my card I used a sewing themed sentiment using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Circles and Dotted Scallop Circles for layering.

I added two reels of thread and a needle to embellish my card.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Hi everyone,

Well there is just over a month until Christmas ... scary isn't it!!!! So today I am sharing another Christmas card I have created.

This time round I have created a Centre Step Card.

To decorate my card I have added a die cut of Santa sitting on a reindeer and added two pine trees to either side of the centre panel.

Here is another view of my card taken at a different angle so you can see the folds in the card a little easier.

Finally the inside of my card. I have added a border of designer paper to the bottom of my white panel and added a Christmas sentiment to the centre of the panel using red and green ink. My MISTI made it so easy to stamp my sentiment in different colors.

Stamps: Santa Claus is Coming To Town - Practical Publishing; Instant Photo Holidays - Papertrey Ink
Paper: White; Red; Green Classic Christmas Classic Seven DP; Festive DP - Authentique
Dies: Centre Step Card - Cheery Lynn Designs; Outdoor Edges - Elizabeth Craft Designs; Santa on Reindeer - Poppy Crafts; Pine Tree - Sizzix; Fishtail Flags Stax 1 & 2 - MFT Stamps

Merry Christmas Deer

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing another Christmas card that I have created recently.

To create the curvy edge to my white panel I used the snow border in the Elizabeth Craft Designs Outdoor Edges die set. I die cut another in red and use this to add a small red border before adding it to my card.

I added the cute little reindeer to the bottom of my card. Not sure that I should have tried to draw in a mouth ... but it is there now and I wasn't going to waste the image after all that colouring.

For the inside of my card I added a trim of designer paper on the left hand side of the card. I then added a sentiment to the right hand side of the card.

Stamps: Favorite Things Calligraphy - Paper Inspirations;  Santa I Believe - Flourishes
Paper: White; Red; Trim the Tree DP - Stampin' Up
Dies: Outdoor Edges - Elizabeth Craft Designs; Reindeer - Poppy Crafts
Other: Black Ink; Foam Tape; Copics

November 2016 Pop It Ups Designer Challenge #2

Hi everyone,

Welcome to our second Pop It Ups Designer Challenge for November. This time round our challenge was set by Karen Aicken. Our challenge this week is "Charmed, I'm sure!" - use any of the charm dies for a card of any theme.

For our last challenge Karen Burniston shared how to create a window card using the Lorna Label Pop Up card die set. I loved the idea and as I hadn't made my card for this challenge as yet decided I would use the tutorial to create my card. You can see Karen's video for this tutorial here.

For the base of my card I used the Lorna Label Pop Up die set.

To decorate my card I used the Barrel Basket with Pop Up to create the baby basket and filled it with baby goodies using the Baby Charms die set.

On the rectangle pop up piece I added the flourish from the Agatha Edges die set.

I used the Baby Clear Stamp set for the sentiment on the inside of the card which is layered onto the fishtail flag banner from the Lots of Pops Pop Up die set.

For the front of the card I decorated the window opening using the two main dies from the Lorna Label Pop Up and added the "BABY" and "GIRL" using the Alphabet 1 Caps die set.

If you are looking to purchase Karen's Pop It Ups dies in Australia you can find them at Craft Giraffe (now online only).

Don't forget to check out  Karen Burniston's blog  on Tuesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus an amazing card/video tutorial from Karen Burniston.
