Little Miss Muffet!

It is Monday again which means another challenge with my goofy CCEE friends on SCS. This week is our Goofy Name Feature Stamper .... which basically means we pick a name of someone on SCS whose user name appeals to us in some way and create a card relating to that name and then send them that card. Our GNFS this week is mwebb .... and a little birdie also told us that it is also her birthday today too ... so happy birthday Mary!

Now for our card ... we were instructed that we had to make a birthday card with a web on it ... in honor of mwebb.

Adding a web to a card around Halloween is pretty easy but incorporating one into a birthday card in March is a little harder ... not impossible of course just harder .... so it did take me a little while to figure out what I was going to do. I had a stamped image of this girl sitting on my desk left over from something I was going to do but then changed my mind and it came to me while I was making another card for some other challenge. This card kind of reminds me of Little Miss Muppet ... although I guess she isn't sitting on any tuffet or eating for that matter either ... but she does look like she is edging the opposite way to where the spider is haha!

To create this I stamped the girl, masked her and then stamped the seat using my stamp positioner so that she was sitting where I wanted her to be seated. I then masked the seat too so that I could stamp the grass and sky. the spider and web were stamped in the right corner and the tree branches in the left corner ... the branches are actually stamped twice to get it to look like a fuller tree.

The ribbon was white, I used my alcohol markers to get the color I needed and attached them to my DP layer. I also used my nestabilities to layer the birthday greeting. Hopefully Mary will like this!

Sending Sunshine Your Way!

Today's featured stamper of SCS is ParisOtremba .... one of the fun things about this challenge is that sometimes you get to see galleries that you might not have seen if it weren't for this challenge. Today was one of those days ...... I enjoyed checking out Paris' gallery and finally decided to CASE this one here.

As per the rules of the featured stamper challenge I had to change at least 2 things on the card I CASED .... here are the changes I made:
  • changed the colors
  • changed the stamps used
  • changed the sentiment
  • changed the position of the ribbon
  • added paper piercing along the bottom edge of the card.
This was a pretty quick and easy card to create!

Owl Thinking of You!

As most of you know by now I love owls so I have quite a collection of owl stamps ... and my wonderful friends I have help me to discover new owls and sometimes even send me owl stamps .... I received this one recently from my friend Kath .. thanks again Kath :) ... and when I saw this sketch for this weeks Beate's weekend sketch challenge I thought it was the perfect set to use.

This is quite a simple sketch compared to many but I enjoyed doing it .. I did change the panel the owl is on from a small rectangle to a circle ... I found this circle laying around on my desk and as it was the right size figured why not. I used my swiss dots cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss my cool caribbean panels and paper pierced the two left corners of the green panel.

Stamps: Owl & Sentiment - Studio G series 7
Paper: Very Vanilla, Cool Caribbean, Chocolate Chip & Wild Wasabi - SU; Retro DP - DCWV

More MFTeasers!

Here are two more MFTeasers for you before these 2 new sets are released later today. My first card again features the stamps from Ride Em Cowboy. I also used my distressed stripes cuttlebug embossing folder ... I am loving these new embossing folders ... and it goes without saying I am also loving these new MFT sets.

For my MFTeaser using the Punch a Bunch set today I decided to create an envelope bag which a lot of people have been making recently on SCS. I used one of the flower bunches from this set to create the background on the envelope before scoring it to create the bag. The scallop, sentiments and flowers in the centre of the panel are all created using this set. I used my paper piercing mat & tool to create 3 rows of paper piercing along the top and bottom of my pumpkin pie panel.

My Favorite Things is having a New Release Cocktail Party on Wednesday, March 5 from 9-11 p.m. Eastern time. Lots of fun is planned including finding out how YOU can be the next MFT Guest Designer. Head over to the MFT Forum on SCS to find out all the details and join us there on Wednesday night.

Dahlia Folding

This card is for a challenge I do with my fab/sassy friends on SCS. This particularly idea was a "try a new technique" challenge on SCS recently, at the time I didn't have the opportunity to play as I was busy with other things .... but my fab/sassy friends decided they wanted to include this in for our challenges this month so I have finally been able to get to create one. You will find the instructions on how to create one here.

I used my swiss dots cuttlebug embossing folder to create the background of the lavender panel.

Cowboy In Town!

Today's sketch on SCS is similar to the one I did on Saturday for Beate's WSC .... I think the main difference is that the vertical panel goes all the way down the card on this particular sketch whereas on Beate's it only went slightly past the middle band. Anyway both sketches I enjoyed doing.

Today I got out my The Cat's Pajama's cowboy stamps ... seems to be a western theme going on here on my blog this week ... what with the MFT release samples and now this card hehe. Actually I was going to go with a different theme ... but the image I chose was too large so I change my mind.

I stamped he buildings onto the top section of my card and colored them in. I stamped the little cowboy on a scrap piece of card, colored and cut out and then mounted him to the other panel before layering to ruby red and chocolate chip.

Both pieces of DP are from the At Home Simply Scrapping Kit ... I love that striped paper. After layer all the panels to my card I added the row of star brads to the side of my vertical panel.

These Boots are Made for Walking!

I have another 2 mfteasers to share with you today. The first one again uses the Ride Em Cowgirl set ... this card would be suitable for either male or female ... simply change the colors as needed. It makes this set very versatile. The boots are really part of the cowgirl but I just stamped the boots only 3 times and cut them out and mounted them to the white squares before placing each square onto the cuttlebugged frame.

This second card is really simple .... a one layer card ... I don't normally do one layer cards but wanted to show how easy it was to create a simple card using this set. I stamped in black except for the sentiment which I stamped using red. I used my white gel pen to create the dots around the scallops. And I added the ribbon to give it a touch of elegance.

"Hive" Been Missing You & Treasure!

This card is inspired by one created by Mary aka Petal Pusher on SCS. Mary was this weeks featured stamper ... when I was checking out her gallery to see which one I should CASE this week I came across this one here. I liked how she had cut her image into squares before creating her card .... I have done this a few times previously and thought it would be a different way to present this bee image (Lilah) by Rubbernecker Stamps.

After I had stamped my image and colored it, I turned my card over and divided it evenly into thirds ... if you have odd measurements a calculator comes in handy here .... and good idea is to number each piece before cutting so you know which way it goes back together.

As per the rules of the featured stamper challenge I had to change at least 2 things to my card ... here is what I changed:
  • changed the image
  • changed the sentiment
  • changed the colors
  • flipped the layout so sentiment is on left instead of right side
  • added extra layers to my card
  • layered my sentiment

More MFTeasers for You!

I have a couple more MFTeaser cards to share with you today. My Favorite Things will be releasing 2 new stamp sets this Friday 5th March.

My first card uses the cowgirl again from the new Ride Em Cowgirl set .... I used my new rough diamonds cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss the ruby red panel of my card and then used chocolate chip ink to color the raised area of the card.

My 2nd card today is another quick card using the new punch a bunch stamp set .... the scallop oval image in this set can be punched out using the largest marvy scallop punch. It also contains sentiments that you can use inside the oval image. The flowers and stems are separate stamps and can be mixed and matched with other flowers in the set.

I used behind the scenes set to create the card base for this particular card. The ribbon was white that I colored with my alcohol markers

My Favorite Things new release cocktail party--Wednesday, March 5 from 9-11 p.m. central time on Splitcoaststampers. Two new sets will be revealed and will be on sale right after the release party. Find out how you can be the next MFT Guest Designer.

MFTeasers for You!

This week I have a few MFTeaser's to share with you as My Favorite Things is releasing 2 new stamp sets this Wednesday 5th March. The stamps used in the card above are from the new mini set called Ride Em Cowgirl.

Have you seen this weeks MFT sketch challenge over on the MFT members forums ... this is my card for this weeks sketch challenge. Cindy H who comes up with these challenges each week challenged the MFT DT to use one of the 2 new release sets on our card .... so of course I did! I did flip the sketch though when I created my card.

For this card I used the new paisley cuttlebug embossing folder on the so saffron strip.

Here is another MFTeaser for you as well ... this card was created using the new Punch a Bunch set. This set is ideal for creating quick cards. There are times when I need to create a quick
card, what about you??? There are two stamps in this set which can be used with the Marvy Oval Punches ... the one I used here fits the pink punch. There are also sentiments and images in this new set but for this particular card I decided to go with the sentiment from the "Say Charge" set. I used some of the Sprout DP from Memory Box also avail from My Favorite Things.

My Favorite Things new release cocktail party--Wednesday, March 5 from 9-11 p.m. central time on Splitcoaststampers. Two new sets will be revealed and will be on sale right after the release party. Find out how you can be the next MFT Guest Designer.

Hey Dude!

This weeks challenge I do with my goofy CCEE friends on SCS required that we incorporate the shaving cream technique on our card. It has been a while since I have done this technique and normally it is a little messy ... and being busy this weekend stamping for DT commitments I wasn't really looking forward to creating my background. I was tempted to pull out an old one and use that ... but no I couldn't do that ... I would feel guilty. As luck would have it there was a suggestion in this weeks SCS Inkling about this technique which was to place the shaving cream inside a plastic folder as you do for some other techniques so I figured I will try this way out. Either way you do this it still tends to be a little messy as you have all that shaving cream to remove from your card.

For my background I just grabbed the closest dye reinkers to me at the time which happened to be cool caribbean, buckaroo blue & cranberry crisp to add to my shaving cream . I like the way it came out.

I used floral fantasy & distress stripes cuttlebug embossing folders for my card ... the floral on on the shaving cream piece and the stripes one on the buckaroo blue piece ... I also used my sponging block to add color to the striped piece. I also used my rectangle nestabilities to create my layers for the main image.

I added the screw brads & hardware to the card as I felt it fitted the theme of this bear image.

Riley Pops Up!

Did you know that Hanna Stamps hosts a challenge every Friday on the Hanna Stamps Member Forum of SCS. This week it was a color challenge and the colors we had to use were Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip & Blush Blossom. We would love for you to come and play this challenge too.

I don't use ruby red very often but for some strange reason I have been using it a lot this past couple of days.

My new embossing folders are getting a good work out here ... for this card I used the new swiss dots & floral fantasy cuttlebug embossing folders. After embossing the floral one onto the blush blossom card, I used my sponging blocks to highlight the raised areas using ruby red SU ink. I used my rectangle nestabilities to frame my Riley image and pierced the corners using my paper piercing mat & tool.

Cooking up Some Birthday Wishes!

A few weeks ago a friend of mine created a card for me as part of a challenge we do among a few friends. The image she used was this cute chef by Rubber Romance ... being a Rubber Romance fan and not having that particular stamp I of course had to do something about it! So when I saw Beate's weekend sketch challenge today I thought it would be perfect for this particular sketch. I did make a small change to the sketch .. the centre strip should be wider than the main image ... but I felt that if I did that it would make my card way bigger than I wanted it to be so made it smaller instead.

It was also a great opportunity to get out a couple of my new cuttlebug embossing folders ... if you haven't seen the new ones yet they are just so fantastic ... you can check them out here. Now that I have purchased the new one I am going to have to think of a new way to store them ... I did have them in a photo album but adding my new ones makes the album way to bulky and it won't close .... I would love to hear how some of you store yours, before I start creating a new system.

Ok back to the card.... the main image was stamped in black onto white card and then I sponged around the edge using old paper distress ink. I used my paper piercing mat & tool to create the piercing along the left edge of the card. I remember I got the sentiment at Christmas which works so well with this image ... I could have stamped it direct onto my main image piece ... but for a little more dimension and interest I decided to stamp it on scrap card and punch it out using my oval punch ... I cut out two additional ovals in ruby red and attached them under my oval.

The pink panel is embossed using the new "swiss dots" cuttlebug embossing folder and the ruby red panel uses the "distressed stripes folder ... after embossing both of these pieces I then used my sponging block to add chocolate chip ink to the raised areas.

I have had this rolling pin button for some time now and I thought it fitted the theme of the card so I also added that .... the string was first colored with a copic marker to help hide the holes of the button.

Recipe:
Stamps: Chef - Rubber Romance; Sentiment - The Cat's Pajamas
Paper: White; Pretty In Pink; Chocolate Chip & Ruby Red - SU; Chocolate Truffle DP - Doodlebug Designs
Other: Black Ink; Chocolate Chip SU Ink; Old Paper Distress Ink; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Word Window Punch; Oval Punch; Swiss Dot & Distressed Stripe Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Brown Grosgrain Ribbon; Brown Brads; Rolling Pin Button; String; Foam Tape

Hoppy 2008!

Yes I know it is getting late to be making calendars for 2008 .... however I recently purchased some of those small calendars from a friend and I still have a few sitting here that need to be used up. So when I received this cute little tin from Gina K Designs to do something with for the Design Team I thought why not do a calendar ... as it was different to what I had seen the other Design Team Members do.

To start of I used my alcohol inks to color the outside of my tin ... I used lettuce & meadow adirondack alcohol inks to do that. I added a number of layers to the tin heat setting between layers to get the color and effect I wanted.

I used my oval nestabilities to create my layers for my Hoppy frog.

I created a little scene for the top panel of my calendar ... the Hoppy is from the same set as the rest of the images ... the 2008 is created using Karen Foster snap stamps. I also added a piece of ribbon between the panels to help lift up the calendar when you open the tin.

To create the inside accordion panels I measured the size of the inside of the tin and then cut my card to size by the length of the tin ... I then used the measurement of the width of the tin as my guide to score the card to create the accordion panel. I did have to add on some card to make the accordion the size I needed.

I also used my corner rounder to round all the corners ... this helps the accordion card fit in the tin better as the tin has rounded edges.

Before attaching the calendar pieces to there respective places ... I first stamped the puddle from Hoppy for You by Melanie Muenchinger at Gina K. Designs.

The bottom panel is attach to the bottom of the tin.

Ride Em Cowboy!

This week for the challenge I do with my fab/sassy friends ... we had to CASE a card from the latest SU catalog. I decided to CASE this card here.

I did make a few changes to the one in the catty .... changing the DP and the colors of the card used..... instead of having the separate piece for the scallop border I add my scallops to my cranberry panel. I also changed the ribbon that was used around the circle to a scallop nestabilitiy. I added paper piercing to the bottom of the card ... and obviously I also changed the image used.

Paper: White; River Rock, Cranberry Crisp & Blue Bayou - SU; DP - Basic Grey

Well I finally succumbed and had to order some of those cute Magnolia stamps I have been seeing on SCS and various blogs around town. As they arrived on Monday and I hadn't had a chance to ink them as yet due to Design Team commitments I was hoping that todays sketch challenge on SCS would be suitable for these stamps .... and it was!!!! :)

I also managed to get a few of the new cuttlebug embossing folders today as well ... so of course I had to use one of those as well hehe!

A Color Challenge

This is just a quick card I made earlier today for this weeks color challenge on SCS. The colors we had to use today were white; river rock and black. I figured this was a great combo to use with my Ornamentum fishing kids stamp ... pretty basic card and I think self explanatory.
