May Your Holidays Sparkle

Hi everyone,

I have another sneak peek to share with you today using the new Karen Burniston Ring Accordion Album die set which will be released by Elizabeth Crafts Designs in July.

So far the cards I have created using this die has had a Christmas theme, but of course it can be used at anytime of the year … I just wanted to create some Christmas cards, they are the first I have made in over 6 months after all and Christmas is a coming!

I decorated my card today using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Ornament Set 2 and the Sprig with Berries. I die cut the solid ornament using white card and adhesive paper and after attaching my top layer to the adhesive base added Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and then colored with copics.

Around each of the outer rings I added the Scallop Frame which also is included in the set, you need to die cut 4 pieces as you do the other Accordion Cards. I have then added Glitter Dots around the frame to help decorate and also hid the joins, but of course the joins don’t really need hiding.

A Piece of Cake

Hello everyone,
It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Our challenge hostess for June, Peggy McCurry continues to bring us fun challenges.

This week being the third Saturday of the month it is time for a sketch challenge… here is a look at this week’s sketch.

For my card this week I decided to use this little cutie from Little Darlings Stamps to create my card. I also just got a few new designer paper pads which I had to play with too . The sentiments used on my card are from CC Designs.

To create my chevrons down the bottom of my card I used a chevron border die and then cut each chevron off and attached it to my card.

As you can see I have created a pop up card using the Lucy Label Pop-Up Card die set designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs. I stamped the cake the girl is holding again and cut that out to add to the top pop up panel and added another sentiment on the label section.

Here is a side on view of my card so you can see the pop up pieces a little better. Along the top and bottom of my card I have also added some Pink Silver Glitter Border stickers available from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Just Saying Hello

Hi everyone,

It’s that time of the month when The Stamps of Life release their new exclusive dies sets. Who doesn’t love new dies!



For my first card today I have used the new  Medium Flowers dies set to decorate my card and paired this with the which sign4words stamp set  and the coordinating  Sign4Words die . 

Of course this card is a flip-its card using the Sizzix Square Flip-its #2 Card Framelits…. I love using these dies!



Here is the “flip” side of my card, this time round I have kept the square blank so a greeting can be written her when I give this to someone.














For my final card today I have used The Stamps of Life Crazy4Life Stamp set with the Medium Flowers Die set.

Butterfly Wishes

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This week Anne Harmon continues to bring the challenges for the month.

This week Anne has given us a “White theme” …. There are 2.4 million June brides in America every year. It became known as the "marriage month" during the middle Ages - because - people were clean after taking their ANNUAL MAY BATHS!!!. Please make an all-white card.

For my card this week I decided to create an all white pivot card and used the Butterfly Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs.

I cut a stripe of white card and embossed this using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Fleur de lis Embossing Folder.

I used one of the edge dies from the Agatha Edges die set to create the shaped edge and then used the flourish from this set to add the white flourish on along each shaped edge.

The middle layer on the pivot butterfly has been die cut using Elizabeth Craft Designs White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz.

For the small butterflies around the card I used the Elizabeth Craft Designs Butterfly Embossing Folder and then using the embossed card I die cut the butterflies using the Butterfly Accessory die set, how cool that this die set fits perfectly over the images on the embossing folder.

Cactus Flower

Hi everyone,

It’s time for another CHF challenge over on the Cornish Heritage Farms Blog . This week the challenge is hosted by Steph Ackerman.

This time round Steph has asked us to create a background with stamps.

For my card today I created a Flip-its card … I die cut the flip-its using green card and then die cut another from white paper and cut out the label in the centre which I used as a mask, I then used the Spanish Script Backgrounder and green ink to create my background. Rather than just stamp this the normal way, I inked up the backgrounder stamp and stamped just a little of the words at an angle onto my card and then masked what I stamped, changed the angle and stamped again until I had covered the whole card. So the script background is random.

In the centre of my card I used the Cactus Flower Digital Stamp.



Here is the flip side of my card. You can probably see a bit better how I did the script background. On the ‘flip side of the label I added two sentiments from the Script Essentials Expression set and also part of the Cactus Flower Digital Stamp again.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Day 2

As promised yesterday I am back today with another Accordion Photo Album for Karen Burniston’s Designer Challenge.

Check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen Burniston will have another of her amazing video tutorials for us.

This time round for our theme Karen has asked us to create Photo Accordion Albums - here's your chance to show off the people you love or your favorite things or your ancestors or garden or pets or . . . doesn't matter. Make an Accordion Album that showcases at least one photo. Any length album, any shape album ,any theme album, but get a photo or photos on there!

Yesterday my Accordion Photo Album featured my Granddaughter Hayley (if you missed that post scroll down to the next post), so today I have created an Accordion Photo Album featuring my Grandson William.

Over the past few months, William’s Grandpa (my DH) and William’s Dad have been building a cubby house for the two kids. Last year it was stage 1 which was the main cubby house and they have just finished stage 2 which included a walkway to a slide and the slide. My youngest daughter, William’s Aunt found this cute kids Carpenter set recently which included toy tools and a tool belt, just like his Grandpa’s so when they started stage 2 of the cubby we gave this to William … he looked so cute and it was so funny seeing him trying to hammer nails into hardwood.

For my Accordion Photo Album today, I have used two photos I took on that day. My album combines two Accordion Card die sets…..  the Oval Accordion Card and the new Katie Label Accordion Card both designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs.

The Katie Label Accordion Card set will be released by Elizabeth Crafts Designs in July so watch out for it in your local stores. I was sooooo excited when Karen told us about the new Katie Label Accordion …. the label dies included in the set are different sizes to the Katie Label Pivot so we can mix and match the labels from both sets. But the most exciting for me is that I could use it to create combo Oval/Katie Label Accordion Cards as I have for my project today.

To create my Accordion Photo Album I die cut two Oval Accordion Card pages from red card and three from wood grain designer paper. I removed the center ovals and tabs from the wood grain pieces and adhered this to the red pages so it looked a little like William’s wooden cubby house.

I also die cut two Katie Label Accordion Card pages from Navy card and added stitching around the edge using a white chalk pen.

The screws at the top of my wood grain pages were brads, but I didn’t want to be punching holes and adding long brad ends to my album so I cut off the ends and attached the brads using foam tape.

I embellished the Accordion Photo Album using various tool stamps I have in my collection.

I wanted to add some wording to the two Katie Label Pages so stamped four wooden signs (I had to double stamp them so I could shorten the signs. And then I used some black Alphabet Peel-off stickers which really added the look I wanted for this album.

 

And finally the front of my Photo Accordion Album when it is closed. I must admit that when I first saw this challenge, I wasn’t sure about it as I don’t really do things with Photos. But I have to say I really enjoyed creating both of my Photo Accordion Albums and love how they turned out … of course they both have my favorite boy and girl on them .

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Day 1

Hi everyone,

It’s time for our May Karen Burniston Designer Challenge, this time round for our theme Karen has asked us to create Photo Accordion Albums - here's your chance to show off the people you love or your favorite things or your ancestors or garden or pets or . . . doesn't matter. Do you spy new dies!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You do!!!!!!!!!!! Today I am using the new Ring Accordion Album die set designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs which will be releasing in July. Can I say I love love love this new die set! I have gone with a Christmas theme for my card/album today, but of course this die can be used for any occasion you want.

When I first read our challenge for this month I thought Christmas, but then had to ask both my daughters to photo stream me Christmas photos as the ones I had weren’t that great. I was going to feature both my Grandchildren on my card, but I ended up just using photos of my Granddaughter, Hayley.

Here is a close up of the first two pages of my album. I also used one or two of the dies from the Circle Accordion Card die set to create the frame around the photos.

The Ring Accordion Album Die comes with two different sized ornament hangers in it. I used the smaller of the two which I die cut from Gold Shimmer Sheetz to add to the top of both my “photo ornaments”

On the top of the two outer rings I added some holly which is included in the Tag die set. I die cut my card which I had already placed double sided adhesive to and then used Regal Green Silk Microfine Glitter and True Red Silk Microfine Glitter to the pieces. As I need one in the reverse on the front to match with the one of the first page I die cut that holly from the back of the card (non adhesive side).

As you can see I also cut a tag using the Tag die set from white card. I used the Merry Christmas (745) word die and Green Velvet Adhesive Paper to create the word Christmas on the tag. The bow is from the Wreath Bow die set.

I decided I wanted to add the year to my tag and as these were taken from last Christmas I wanted 2013 … how to do that when Elizabeth Craft Designs don’t have numbers yet, hmmmmmmmm … I ended up making the numbers using various word dies from ECD.

To create the 2 I used the S from the Get Well Soon (790) die. I reversed the S and cut of the tail and added a straight piece from one of the l’s from the die.

The 0 was created using two C’s from Congratulations (784). the 1 was easy, I cut up the H from Happy Birthday (783) and finally for the 3 I used the B from Happy Birthday (783) cutting off the straight part and reversing it.

And finally a look at the front of my card when it is closed ready to be placed into an envelope. I really had fun creating this Photo Album … which features on of my favorite people .

Owl Gift Card Holder

Hi everyone,

A couple of weeks ago, my daughter came home from shopping and informed me she needed a gift card holder. Thinking she was giving me warning that she needed it later in the week or something I asked when for and was promptly told tomorrow. It was already late on a Sunday afternoon and I had a long list of things to do.

However, I recently purchased this fun Give a Hoot Gift Card Holder from Lil’ Inker Designs which I have wanted to play with but hadn’t as yet … so I got to work to create this .



Here is the Gift Card holder opened complete with the gift card she was planning to give to her friend. Now all I need is a few more people to give gift cards to so I can make more … it is so much fun! Think I may need to make a Christmas version soon.

Hello everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  This week Peggy McCurry our challenge hostess for the month continues to bring us fun challenges.

This week Peggy has challenged us to a Stencilling theme…. Seems that using stencils has taken off in the paper craft world. You do not have to run out and buy a stencil for this challenge. You can use die cuts, punches or stickers to make a stencil. Let’s see some stencilling creativity!

When I was going through my box of stamps not used yet to see if there was anything I could use for this week’s challenge I spied this Giraffe stamp from Art Impressions and as I also had an animal spots stencil it seemed like the perfect thing to use to create my card.

I die cut my card using the Katie Label Pivot Card designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I then die cut the pivot part only from scrap paper and masked the pivot part of the card and then used my animal stencil and my copic airbrush to add the animal spots all over my card.

On the left side of my card I added a brown card which I had embossed using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Swirly Curves Embossing Folder.

On the inside of my card I added another giraffe and on the right hand pivot I added the Riley and Company Funny Bones sentiment “The Trouble with Trouble” … I think it fits this giraffe well … it must have been having fun until it’s neck got all tied up hehe!

The “Oops!” on the left pivot was computer generated.

Gift Accordion Card

Hi everyone,
It is my turn to post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today. For the past few months I have been having fun combining the Circle Accordion and the Fancy Label Accordion cards to create something a little different. These are so easy to do and I thought I would share with you how you can create this style of card too.
Here's how I created my card:

1. Cut two panels (one blue & one green) using the Circle Accordion Card die.
2. Cut one panel from yellow using the Fancy Label Accordion Card Die.
3. Cut two white circles using the largest circle from the Circle Accordion Card die set.
4. Cut one fancy label using the Fancy Label Accordion Card die set.

5. Cut 4 blue and 8 yellow frames edges using the Square with Circle Frame Edge die.
6. Cut 4 green frame edges using the Fancy Label Frame Edge die.
Tip: Apply Double Sided Adhesive Paper to the back of your card prior to die cutting the frame edges, this makes it easier when adhering to the accordion pages.
7. Adhere the yellow frame edges to the back and front of the blue Circle Accordion panel, the blue frame edges are adhered to the front of the green Circle Accordion panel  and the green frame edges to the front of the Yellow Fancy Label Panel.

8. Layout all three Accordion panels as per the photo above. Note that the tab on the Circle Accordion panel on the right is next to the the Fancy Label Accordion panel (normally this would be on the far right).
9. Remove the tab from the Fancy Label Accordion panel (note - if we were making a normal accordion card using only the Circle Accordion Card die or the Fancy Label Accordion Card die (not both together) we would remove the tab from the last panel)

10. Apply adhesive (tape or glue) to the tabs on the Circle Accordion panels and join the three panels together.

Decorating the Accordion Panels:

11. Cut a piece of Double Sided Adhesive sheet approx 4.25  inches x 3 inches. Remove the release sheet from one side of the adhesive and set aside upside down on your desk (shiny side up). Adhere your Double Sided Adhesive sheet to a piece of white card the same size.
12. From the Gifts Peel-Off Sticker sheet remove the two tall gifts and two gift tags. Place these sticky side up onto the release sheet that we set aside earlier.
13. Take your white card and place it with the adhesive side facing down onto the release sheet with the Peel-Offs on it. The Peel-Offs will lift from the release sheet and stick to the adhesive on the card stock.
14. Turn your card so that the release sheet is now on top. Take off the release sheet and make sure not to touch the adhesive. You have now transferred your outline sticker.
15. Cover the adhesive with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and polish with your finger. You can see a video Els created using this technique here. Color your images as desired. Cut out the 2 gifts and the two tags.

6. Use foam tape to adhere a gift and tag to each white circle die cut in step 3. Attach circles to each of the Circle Accordion panels using foam tape.

7. Using the Happy Birthday (783) die and the Thinking of You (789) die, die cut a piece of Light Blue Velvet Adhesive Sheet.
8. Set aside the words "Happy", "Birthday" and "You".
9. From the word "Thinking" cut off the letter "T" and from the word "of" cut off the letter "o". Flip the letter "o" so that the letter can join onto the letter "T" as per photo above.
10. Adhere the greeting "Happy Birthday To You" onto the white fancy label  die cut in step 4. Attach fancy label to the Fancy Label Accordion panels using foam tape.

11. Die cut the fishtail banner included in the Lots of Pops Pop-Up Card set from white card.
12. Using the Friends (720) die, die cut a piece of Light Green Velvet Adhesive Sheet. Trim off the letter "s" from the end of the word so you are left with the word Friend.
13. Adhere the word Friend to the fishtail banner created in step 11. Attach to the top left hand corner on the front of the accordion as per the photo above.
