Flower Cart

Hi Crafty Friends,

t’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Karen Ostergard our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

This week Karen has asked us to ... make or color flowers for today's challenge!

Down here in Australia it is now Spring, so it is perfect timing for this challenge. 

I pulled out Honey Bee Stamps Market Cart Builder die set to create a flower cart for this challenge. I wanted to see if it would work on a Slimline card, as you can see it does!

For the background of my card I used Paper Rose Studio's Slimline Portrait Scene die. This was then layered onto a black panel and then a side folding white card base.

At the top of the card I added the "Happy Birthday" sentiment which is from Honey Bee Stamps Miss You Big Time stamp set. 

For the inside of my card, I created a double pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up die set.

I used sentiments from Honey Bee Stamps "My Favorited Flower" stamp set for the first two labels. The "Happy Birthday sentiment is from a Colorado Craft Company's Thinking of You Magnolia stamp set.

Along the edges of the card I added a panel of purple cardstock that I stencilled with strips to match the awning of the flower cart on the front of the card.

Cheers To A Hoppy Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month, it's time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is ME!

Apparently tomorrow 6th August is International Beer Day, for our challenge today include something beer or wine related on your card.

For my card today I pulled out a Paper Rose Studio die set called Beer Bottle 1 which includes dies to create both the beer bottle & beer mug. 

As you can see I created a Slimline Card using slimline dies from Picket Fence Studios.

For the sentiment I used Lawn Fawn's Giant Happy Birthday die. I die cut this sentiment from teal and black cardstock and then offset the teal over the black to create a shadow effect.

For the inside of the card I created a double pop-up using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up die set.

I added a sentiment to the top pop up circle panel and the beer bottle & mug on the bottom one.

Owlsome Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month, it's time to introduce our new challenge hostess for the month which is Kelly Santi.

Apparently June 20th is National Eagle Day in the USA so let’s celebrate this national symbol. It’s a time set aside raise awareness about the bald eagle and to preserve the bird's natural habitat. Please use an eagle (or bird) on your card/project to celebrate this winged treasure

One thing my stash is missing is Eagles, so I decided to use my favorite time of bird ... the owl to create my card. My daughter's had recently given me owl stamps for Mother's Day so it was a good opportunity to use those.

As you can see I created a Slimline Pop-up card using Paper Rose Studio's Slimline Portrait Scene die. All the various layers you see on this card all cut separately, so it is easy to color the various different layers however you want.

To decorate my card I used the owl stamps from Uniquely Creative's Little Hoot stamp set and the flowers and "owlsome" sentiment from their Owl Family stamp set.

I layered the flowers over the grass tuffs of the slimline die, as they looked a little like flower stems.

The remainder of the sentiment at the top of the card is from a Honey Bee Stamps stamp set.

For the inside of the card I created a pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up die set. As you can see I created a double pop-up for this card. I added the "Happy Birthday" sentiments which is from Altenew's Birthday Builder stamp set and added an owl under each part of the sentiment.

I added one of the borders from Scrapbook.com's Slim Borders die set to each of the edges of the card.

Laughter Is the Best Medicine

Today I am sharing a card I created using Paper Rose Studio's Laughing Animals stamp set. 

I used partial die cutting to die cut the rectangle around the animals while keeping the giraffe's neck above the rectangle.

For the inside of the card I used one of the sentiments from the stamp set and added the two wine glasses to either side of the sentiment.

Thinking of You

Today I am sharing a set of Thinking of You cards I created recently.

For my card today I used Paper Rose Studio's Native Birds Border die, this created the cut out border on the right side of the card. To create the background behind this border I blended Distress Oxide inks in Fossilized Amber; Wild Honey; Spiced Marmalade & Peel Paint.

I added the "Thinking" sentiment which is the die included in Crafter's Companion's Thinking of You Edge'ablities. I used a Honey Bee Stamps sentiment stamp set to add the "of you" at the end of the sentiment.

I added a black strip to the right hand side of the Native Bird Border Panel.

For the inside of my card I added sentiments from Altenew's Hello and Hugs stamp set and also Concord & 9th's Retro Petals Turnabout stamp set.

Today I am sharing a card I made for a very good friend who celebrated her birthday about a week ago. My friend loves playing golf and for as many years as I can remember I have created a golf themed card to give to her for her birthday. After all this time she more or less expects it from me haha!

I had the idea to use the Surprise Ball Pop-up as a golf ball back in December. At the time I was busy with Christmas cards etc and I didn't need the card until the end of February, so I just wrote my idea onto my to do list for February. I then saw a card made by lilyhearts2day who had a similar idea, she had used some grass patterned paper and some golf ball pattern designer paper which I liked. As I was able to find both on Scrapbook.com and I had a few other things in my cart, I decided to order them. The black circle for the hole in the golf course was also an idea I got from the card on instagram, but other than that I kept with my idea I had in December.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

I used Karen Burniston's Surprise Ball Pop-up die set to create the pop-up golf ball on my card. I die cut the main die twice from white cardstock and then used the patterned paper which I created using an image online for the detail layer.

I added a black circle to the front of the card, so it looks like the golf ball is about to roll into the hole ... that is the aim of golf after all!

After so many years of making golf themed cards for my friend, I have accumulated a lot of golf themed sentiments, so I added on to the top of the golf ball .. which is an older Rubbernecker Stamps stamp.

I added the golf ball to the front panel of the card, so that the card can either be displayed flat or in the folded position so you can see the image on the back panel.

I added another sentiment to the back panel of my card, this time using a stamp from an older stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps. I also added Magnolia Stamps Golf Tilda to the back panel ... she is swinging a golf club, so maybe she is trying to hit the golf ball hehe!

I kept the front of the card fairly simple seeing the focus of the card is the inside. The golf ball patterned paper I purchased, the pattern was too big for the golf ball but was perfect for the front of the card. 

I created a belly band for my card, to help keep the card closed. I added a golf cart that I received for Christmas which is from Paper Rose Studio.

Here is a look at the front of the card, complete with the belly band ready to be placed in an envelope.

G'Day Mate!

G'day Mate and Happy Australia Day for all my Aussie readers.

The last three months have been pretty rough down here in Australia due to the drought and the fires which have been burning almost continuously since November, The fires started in Queensland and New South Wales, but come December and January they had pretty much covered every states. It has been heartbreaking seeing the loss of people, animals,  homes etc. A big thank you to the firies out there who have done their best to keep the fires under control in the most extreme conditions.

As today is Australia Day and I am a proud Aussie, I have an Aussie themed card to share with you today.

I used Paper Rose Studio's Gumleaf Border to create the panel in the left hand side of the card, I backed this panel using woodgrain paper.

I used MFT Stamps Kangaroo Crew Stamp set to create the cute scene in the oval panel.

I added the sentiment using a stamp from Couture Creations.

For the inside of the card I created another scene using the remaining stamps from MFT Stamps Kangaroo Crew. I also added two sentiments from this stamp set.

Inlaid Rose Border

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a birthday card I created recently using Paper Rose Studio's Ella's Garden Rose and Brick Border die and Inlaid die cutting.

To create my card I started by die cutting the border die from a black piece of cardstock the size of my card front. I then created a top folded card using black cardstock and adhered Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape over the front. I adhered my from die cut panel over the adhesive on the folded cut.

I used the die again, this time to die cut the border from Kraft cardstock. I then inlaid just the bricks to the border on my card. Once I had all the bricks in place I used a copic marker to add shadows to both ends of each of the bricks.

I repeated die cutting this die two more times from green and pink cardstock and then inlaid the leaves and the rose. Again I used a Copic marker to add shadows to these areas.

On each side of the border panel, I added a think piece of green cardstock and then a Black Border Peel Off Sticker over the green piece.

I added a sentiment to the top right hand corner of the card using MFT Stamps Bitty Birthday Sentiments and Honey Bee Stamps Banner Builder die set.

For the inside of my card I die cut the "bloom" sentiment using Honey Bee Stamps Bloom die and then added the two sentiments above and below the sentiment using the coordinating stamps.

To finish off the card I die cut just the rose from the Rose Border die, inlaying the various colors.

Tribute to Joanne Grzelak

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am participating in a special blog hop tribute for my friend Joanne Grzelak. Sadly we were recently told by Joanne's sister Sue, that she had passed away suddenly on the 25th May 2019.

I "met" Joanne online way back in 2007 over on Splitcoast Stampers when I was invited to join the original CCEE Stampers challenge team. Back then we didn't have a blog, and we used to all meet in one of the SCS forums to chat each night. At that stage Joanne wasn't a member of CCEE Stampers, but she often popped in to chat with us and later joined the Design Team in 2010. 

Joanne was also one of the foundation members of the other challenge blog I look after called Crazy 4 Challenge which was started by Vicki Garrett, Cindy Haffner and myself back in 2009.

Joanne was a wonderful person, very supportive and will be missed very much.

Today the CCEE Stampers, Crazy 4 Challenges Design Teams and a few special stamping friends have come together in this special tribute blog hop to honour our stamping friend by either:

1. Create a card depicting one of the things she love which included:

As you can see by my card above, I decided to create a black and white card for my tribute to Joanne today. Joanne used to create the most wonderful black and white cards and I was always in awe of these cards she created. To me she was the Queen of black & white cards.

To create my card I used Paper Rose Studio's Blooming Flower Background die which I have been wanting to use for a while now. I die cut the images from black cardstock and then adhered this onto a piece of white cardstock that had Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front and then added some Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter over the top of the adhesive.

I framed this image using the largest frame from Hero Arts Wood Frame Infinity dies. I added this to the top of an Easel Card created from black cardstock.

I die cut another frame and added that to the base of the card and then stamped the striped background from Concord & 9ths Stripes & Sayings stamp set and die cut this using the same wood frame die so I could adhere the inner rectangle to the centre of the frame on the base.

I added a stripe of white cardstock across my striped background panel which is the stop for the easel card. I then added the Hello sentiment which is from The Stamp Market.

To finish off the main part of the card I added some black rhinestones.

Here is a look at my card when it is folded ready to be placed in an envelope.

I added a panel to the back of my card and added another sentiment, this time from Clearly Besotted's Sitting Here Thinking stamp set.
