O Little Town of Bethlehem

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month, it's time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is ME!

A Blue Christmas ... take inspiration from the song that Elvis used to sing and create a Christmas card which includes the color blue in it. Don’t celebrate Christmas … just make a card that includes blue.

For my card today I have another Slimline Sliding Window Pop-up Card using Trinity Stamps Slimline Surprises die set. To decorate the card I used a new Slimline stamp set from Woodware Stamps called Peaceful Nights.

I gold embossed the Peaceful Nights image onto blue cardstock and then layered this onto gold and then blue cardstock, so that when the image is pop-up by pulling the slider you can see both colors behind the image.

I used a sentiment from an older Papertrey Ink's Instant Photo: Holiday stamp set which is also gold embossed.

Here is a side view of my card when the sliding has been pulled up. here you can see the gold embossed sentiment in the front and also one at the top of the slider.

I used gold ribbon and blue cord to the top of the slider panel, this makes it easier to hold on to the panel when you want to pull it open.

I kept this card as a flat card rather than adding it to a folded card, this way the recipient is encouraged to display it in the open position. I added rectangle panels from Trinity Stamps Slimline Stitched Panels and Windows die set.

I added a Christmas sentiment from Divinity Designs Christmas Wishes stamp set to the white panel. While these sentiments weren't designed for Slimline cards, being longer than normal sentiments they are perfect sentiments to fit on a Slimline card.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

That's A Wrap

Hi Crafty Friends,

t's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog.  Being a brand new month, it's time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is Lynn McAuley.

Lynn tells us .... If you are like her, you are probably ready for the year of 2020 to be wrapped  up tight with a bow tied securely around it. Let's be done with it!! For this challenge make use of the Christmas wrapping paper of your choice as a part of your holiday design. Grab up some paper scraps from your gift-wrapping adventures and join us in this week's challenge.

For my card today I created another Slimline Surprise (or Sliding Window Card) using Trinity Stamps Slimline Surprise die set. I used the main part of the die to die cut a panel which has red patterned paper on the top of the panel and wood grain paper on the bottom.

I used the Christmas Tree die from Elizabeth Craft Designs to create the Christmas tree that is behind the girl.

I added the "Merry Christmas" sentiment to the top of the card which is from The Ton's Essentials Sentiments Holiday stamp and coordinating die sets.

The girl and all the presents, wrapping paper etc are from Essentials by Ellen. Most of my Christmas wrapping paper, the patterns are too big to use on a card, but I did find one piece that had a tiny tree on it which I used for the bag near the girl.

I added the "That's A Wrap!" sentiment to the lower right hand corner of the card, it is adhered using foam tape so it doesn't get in the way of the sliding mechanism.

I adhered my Slimline Surprise card to a Slimline Scalloped Rectangle panel which is from Divinity Designs Slimline Scalloped Rectangles die set.

When you pull the slider mechanism up, it reveals a Christmas sentiment on the bottom red panel which is from the Handwritten Sentiments 2 stamp set from Stampers Anonymous.

Another sentiment can be seen on the white slider panel, for this sentiment I used an older Print Works stamp which includes the words "wrapped in joy" which I thought suited this card.

I like to create this style of card so it is flat, rather than adhered to a card that opens. This way the card can be displayed with the slider pulled up to show whatever is standing up on the card. So I added a rectangle panel to the back of the card.

I added a few more of the presents and wrapping papers to this panel and added a die cut sentiment from Mama Elephant and a gold foiled "Christmas" sentiment.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Snowman Surprise

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Amy Ottmers our challenge hostess for the month, finishes off the month with one last challenge.

Snowman what's new! - Winter is coming in the Northern Hemisphere which means snow and snowmen. Create a card today which includes a snowman.

I recently purchased some Slimline dies from Trinity Stamps which I wanted to play with, and this challenge was perfect for them. To create my card I used Trinity Stamps Happy Snowman and Slimline Surprise die sets. The Slimline Surprises die set includes dies to create a Sliding Pop-up Card, slimline style as well as a few other dies to create hidden zipped pockets etc.

For the background of my card, I blended Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Faded Jeans & Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide inks onto white cardstock before die cut the main die from the Slimline Surprises Die set. I then splattered white paint over the background to create snow.

I die cut the bottom piece of the Slimline Surprises die again this time from White Glitter cardstock and added it to the bottom of the panel.

I added the sentiment "Let It Snow" to the top of the card which is from The Ton's Easy Expressions Holiday stamp and coordinating die sets.

I die cut and assembled the snowman using white glitter cardstock. Prior to adhering this snowman to the card, I die cut trees using The Ton's Pine Tree Coverplate die from two different colored green cardstocks. I arranged the trees behind the snowman, so it appeared that there was a forest behind the snowman.

I stamped a sentiment to the top of the sliding panel, and another sentiment to the area which is revealed when the slider is pulled.

I kept this card as a flat card rather than adding it to a folded card, as this is the style of card which is nice to be displayed flat with the snowman standing up.

I die cut a white panel using one of the rectangle panels from Trinity Stamps Slimline Stitched Card Panels & Windows die set.

I added two of the trees from The Ton's Pine Trees Coverplate die to the bottom of the card.

For the sentiment I used MFT Stamps Stacked Merry Die-namics and then added the Christmas sentiment from MFT Stamps Bitty Holiday Wishes stamp set.
