Beers, Cheers

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Kathleen Adams our challenge hostess for the month, finishes off the month with one last challenge.

Apparently today is “Open That Bottle Day”! Who knew? So for our challenge today we are to make a card of “Celebration”!

I had planned to use another card for this challenge,  but at the last minute I had to pull it and will have to wait a month or two before I can post it. Fortunately I was making this card for someone anyway, so it was easy enough to substitute my card. As beer can come out of bottles, I figured it was perfect for this challenge.

For my card today I decided to create a Triple Flip Card using Karen Burniston's Triple Flip Card die set.

As you can see I created a male themed birthday card by using stamps from Riley and Company. The small beer mug is the perfect size for the triple flip panels. For the centre panel I used one of Riley and Company's Funny Bones sentiments "Brew Enjoy Empty Repeat" if you read the first letters of each of the words downwards it spells beer!

When you pull the "pull tab" at the side of the card, the 3 panels flip to the left revealing something underneath. On this card I used Karen Burniston's Alphabet die to spell the word "Beer" it seemed to be appropriate for this card. I die cut the letters from red and black cardstock and then offset the red letters over the black slightly so there was a slight shadow under each of the letters.

For the inside of my card I used two more stamps from Riley and Company. I just love that Cheers, Beers sentiment and it seems perfect to use for this card with what I used on the front of the card.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

You're Moo-Velous!

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing an interactive card I created recently using products from Karen Burniston (KB Riley) and Riley and Company.

I love paper dolls of any type, and have a large collection of the stamped version in my stash that I have accumulated over the years. Recently I purchased a few of the new cow and some of the dress  up sets which are all part of the Dress Up Riley range from Riley and Company. Up until recently there was only Riley the Moose to dress up, but they have now included a fun cow as well. As Karen Burniston recently released her barn pop stand die set along with some other farm related dies, I decided to add the dress up cow and some of the dress up sets, including the farm set to my stash.

I was originally planning on creating a pop-up card using these stamps, but in the end I decided to pull out the Triple Flip die set to create a single flip card. This is a technique that my friend Karen Aicken came up with a little while ago and it gives more options on using this die set.

I used one of the rectangle panels from the Crosshatch - Rectangles die set, die cutting this twice (for either side of the flip). I then also die cut the rectangle using blue designer paper and brown cardstock to create the background.

I stamped, colored and cut out the cow, tractor, shirt, hat and straw from the Dress Up Riley - Farm Clear Stamp set and adhered them to the front of my card.

When you pull the tab, it reveals the back of the rectangle panel. I created another scene here using another cow, the dress, chickens and eggs from the Dress Up Riley - Farmer Clear Stamp set.

I added the barn to the centre of the cow print panel, which hides the other two holes the Triple Flip die cuts into the panel when die cutting. I added a sentiment to the top of the barn.

All sentiments used on this card are from Newton's Nook Designs You're Moo-velous Clear Stamp set.

On the inside of the card, I added another rectangle panel with another scene and sentiment.

Oldie but Goodie

Hi Crafty Friends,

Apparently today, 12th August is Vinyl Record Day. If you are an oldie like me, I am sure you remember these which btw are making a big comeback these days. Vinyl records have become very popular again.

Recently my friend Karen Aicken was very excited that she had figured out how to convert Karen Burniston's Triple Flip die set to create a single flip. This means it is perfect for all those larger stamps and die we own. You can see Karen's card here.

As you can probably figure, I loved the idea and had to try it out myself. Rather than inserting the three tables into the Triple Flip panel, you just need to inside the end tab and then sandwich a large rectangle to the tab. I used a rectangle from the Crosshatch - Rectangles die set. In Karen Burniston's assembly video she recommends foam tape at the top and bottom of the large flip panel which I find helps the mechanism flip easily.

Karen Aicken also suggested adding a 1/2 inch piece of foam tape just above and below the right hand side of the flip tab, this helps the tab keep straight rather than wanting to slip down. This is only for when you are adding a single flip rather than the triple where the other two tabs going into the main panel deals with this issue.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

Over the last 6 months or so I seem to have accumulated a number of vinyl record themed stamps and dies so seeing it is Vinyl Record Day today, I decided to pull some of those out to create this card.

On the front of my card I used MFT Stamps Turntable die set along with the For the Record stamp set for the sentiment.

When you pull the tab on the right hand side, the rectangle panel flips open to reveal music themed sentiments and some smaller records (singles or EP's).

The smaller die cut records & music notes are from Sugar Pea Designs Greatest Hits die set and the sentiments are from Honey Bee Stamps For the Record stamp set.

For the inside of my card I added two more rectangles from the Crosshatch - Rectangles die set.

I added another sentiment from the Honey Bee Stamps stamp set and the larger record is again from Sugar Pea Designs Greatest Hits stamp and coordinating die set.

Hello Sweet Friend

Hi Crafty Friends,

Recently my friend, Karen Aicken shared a couple of cards using the Triple Flip Card die set from Karen Burniston. Rather than using them as the Triple Flip, she converted the die cut pieces so that the card had a single flip. I am always looking for different ways to use the dies I own and this was such a clever idea that of course I had to play with this idea. You can see Karen Aicken's cards using the Triple Flip die set on her blog.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

For my card I used Concord & 9th's Cool Treats Turnabout Stamp set and the coordinating die set. I have had the turnabout stamp for a while, but was waiting to get the die set to use with it.

I used four different colors of Catherine Pooler inks, to stamp the turnabout image.

This time around I created a portrait style card rather than a landscape version, which the Triple Flip die set normally creates. I die cut the main die from the Triple Flip die sets and then trimmed of the left hand side (and one of the slots that is on the left side) so it was 4 1/4 inches wide. I then used the centre slot for the flip mechanism.

I used the Ice Block dies from the Cool Treats coordinating die set to create the ice block image which I attached to the front and back of the flip mechanism. I also stamped the verses onto the ice block images prior to attaching to the card using VersaMark ink and White Embossing Powder.

I used a scallop border die to create the border above and below the panel.

The stripes at the top and bottom of the card are also from the Cool Treats Turnabout Stamp set.

For the inside of the card I added a white panel about the same size as the Triple Flip panel on the front and added the Karen Burniston You're Sweet! sentiment and the small ice block from the Cool Treats die set.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Anne Harmon our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Our challenge for this week is ..... Embossing! Use either wet or dry embossing, and add some bling (sequins, glitter, gems, etc.)

I created a Christmas themed Triple Flip card for my challenge today. Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

For my embossing part of the challenge, I went with heat embossing using embossing powder. I stamped Simon Says Stamp's Poinsettia Background stamp onto red cardstock with VersaMark ink and then covered this with white embossing powder and heat set. I then die cut this panel using the main die from Karen Burniston's Triple Flip die set.

When you pull the tab on the top right hand side of the card, the three panels on the front of the card flip and reveal four more panels.

To decorate my card I used Stampin' Up's Signs of Santa stamp set.

I added Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink to all the scalloped panels (except the one with the sentiment) and then splattered white paint over these pieces to create snow. I then die cut more scallop panels and used the snow border from the Nature Edges die set for my snow areas.

I added the large Santa sentiment to the bottom of the card, this is one of the Crafter's Companion Edge'able dies.

I almost forgot about the bling part of the challenge, however I did add glitter to the icicle borders and the Santa sentiment and also shimmer pen to the snow and Santa's beard etc ... so it looks like I accidentally got that part covered .... phew!!!!!

For the inside of the card I added one of the two sentiments that comes with the Crafter's Companion Edge'able dies which I stamped and layered using ovals from the Crosshatch - Ovals die set.

I also added another Santa to the oval.

Donut You Know You're The Best

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Triple Flip Card I created using the new Karen Burniston Triple Flip Card die set which was released earlier this month.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

To decorate my card I used Mama Elephant's Donut Treats Clear Stamp set along with sentiment stamps from Reverse Confetti's Donut You Know and Honey Bee Stamps Donut Worry stamp sets.

For the inside of the card I used Karen Burniston's Crosshatch - Squares die set for the layers of the card. I added another sentiment from the Reverse Confetti stamp set and added some more donuts from the Mama Elephant stamp set.

You're The Best Teacher

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our July Paper Pros challenge. This month our challenge is hosted by Caz, and she challenged us all to .....

Thirty Minute Makes - yes you heard right, from start to finish we will show off our favourite quick cards - Often the Karen Burniston cards are very decorative but sometimes time consuming (worth it) but we wanted to show you it is possible to make a card in just 30 minutes. ** Obviously this does not include you designing the card once you know what you are doing you can set the clock.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

OK disclaimer .... I don't make 30 minute cards, it is impossible for me, but this one was a lot quicker than what I would normally make .... but probably did take longer than 30 mins .... oops! I knew what I was doing and other than deciding whether I wanted the colored cardstock on the larger rectangle or the decorative panel in the middle of the three layers it was pretty easy.

I also used chipboard embellishments for my decorative pieces so this meant no stamping, cutting or coloring which is normally a big reason a card can take so long to make.

For the interactive portion of the card I used Karen Burniston's Triple Flip Card die set, I have been having lots of fun with this die set recently. I had already found the rainbow crayons in my stash and while looking for some papers for another project, I found this crayon patterned paper which was also in rainbow colors, so the pair just had to go together.

Children these days seem to have multiple teachers and as I have two grandchildren, I am also looking for an excuse to add another card to my thank you teacher card stash for them to give to their teachers at the end of the year when school is finished for the year. The teacher stamps and dies are from Heffy Doodle Stamps.

For the inside of the card I added a little strip of the rainbow cardstock I used on the front of the card, this is something I have had in my stash for years! I added two more sentiments and another of the chipboard embellishments.

You can see what the other "Paper Pros" created for this challenge on their blogs:

Red, White and Blue Cheers

Hi Crafty Friends,

t's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce our new challenge hostess, which is Vicky Gould.

Since both Australia and the USA have red, white and blue for their colors, let’s use those colors to make a card…..does not have to be for a holiday, just red, white and blue….but, of course, if you send out Patriotic cards, go for it!

First up, happy 4th July to all my readers from the USA! As you can see I decided to visit a country other than USA or Australia, that also uses the colors red, white and blue in their flag .... Great Britain. I recently purchased this fun London themed stamped from Waffle Flower Crafts called Oyez, so have been wanting to use it on a card.

For my card today, I am using a couple of Karen Burniston's new die sets being released this month. For the main part of the card I have used the new Triple Flip die set, you can see a quick video showing my card in action above. This die set is lots of fun!

I added the new "Cheers" sentiment die to the bottom of the card using the fishtail banner which is included in the Triple Flip die set for the layering of the sentiment.

For the inside of the card I used the Celebrate die set layering this onto ovals from the Crosshatch Ovals die set.
