VSN Jan 08 Day 2

VSN is over for another weekend, it has been a fun with weekend with lots of great challenges for us to participate in. The theme this weekend was "Girls Night Out" so all the challenges related in some way around this. I really enjoyed playing the challenges, chatting to some of you and supporting the other hostesses. If you haven't had time to play and still would like to then there is still time just head over to the VSN forum and check out the challenges, as long as the card takes you 45 mins to create once you start stamping you are fine .... your card does need to be in the appropriate gallery by 3pm Sunday ET.

Here are my samples from todays challenges. Being a hostess for VSN I am able to play the challenges prior to this weekend ... this helps us check that the challenges are do-able in the time limit etc. Even though we get to play before hand we still have to stick to all the VSN rules eg the 45 mins time limit etc.


The first challenge today that I did was "Let's do our Nails" for this challenge we had to create a card using the polished stone technique. This isn't my most favorite card out of all the ones I did .... but we all have some we don't like as much as others.

This card was for the "Bling It On" challenge ... we had to give our card some form of bling .... glitter, sparkles anything as long as it was bling.

I recently received these fun martini rhinestone embellishments from my friend Tosh .... and as soon as I saw this challenge I thought of them. The only stamping for this card is the verse on the outside and inside.

The inside sentiments reads: "Happiness is clean underwear and a dirty Martini."

You might understand why I would want a clean underwear stamp further down this post.

"Everyone Needs Closure" was the theme for the next challenge .... the idea was to make a card using a different fold or closure. I decide to do create a Z fold card

The next two cards (the one above and the one below) were my samples for the challenge I hosted this weekend. The challenge was "Put on Your Big Girl Panties!", the idea was to create a panty card of some type. Participants could either make their panty card using the template I provided which would make the card above or they could make a card that used a panty stamp of some type.

Using the template I provided .... you are also able to make a bonus card if desired ... that is the card with the bra on it. I had fun making the above cards and thought the sentiments I chose worked so well with these two cards.

In case you can't read them the bra card says "You're a perfect pair" not exactly what was meant when this stamp was made I am sure ... but I am sure their are some who do have the perfect "pair" but that sure isn't me!

And as the panty card is showing the rear view of a person, I couldn't resist adding .... "I'm Behind You 100%"

This is my second sample for my "Panty Card" challenge. I just love this dog! This was a very quick card, the sketch is one that Cammie did for the Gina K release party.

A friend gave me this stamp for Christmas and I thought it was perfect for the overall theme of the weekend so decided to use it for this next challenge ..... "Eyes Have It!" Of course for this challenge we had to use eyelets on our card. I used to love using eyelets and have lots of them but these days I tend to pick brads to eyelets, so it was fun to get out the old eyelets for this one.

And finally the last challenge of the weekend "Standing at the Fridge Door". The idea here was to use all our "leftovers" we had left out and create a grid type card.

I had some DP and scraps left over from the sketch card I did this week so I used those to create my card here ... I also had Riley Moose already stamped out so I grabbed him and colored him to suit the colors used here.

This is of course another of the Riley Moose stamps which will be released by Hanna Stamps on the 1st February.

VSN Jan 08 Day 1

The first day of VSN was a complete success! I had a ton of fun and I hope you did too if you played along.

I managed to get to play in 5 of the 6 challenges ... although I did play a little ahead of time being that I am again a hostess for this VSN. Of course I did still need to play by the rules in regard to time limits etc just like everyone else.

This first one I did actually make in real VSN time as I didn't get time to make it before that. I decided to use another of the Riley stamps by Hanna Stamps which are going to be released on the 1st February .... I am just loving these stamps!

I know the circle looks a little crooked here in the photo .... but it isn't that is just the illusion you get because you can see the back of the card from the front ... I cut the circle out using my circle cutter.

This card was for the Chocolate or Shoes Challenges .... the hostess provided us with a picture of yummy chocolate shoes which we were to use as our inspiration ... we could make a shoe card, a chocolate card or a card using those colors or all 3 ..... I guess I could say mine is all three as I would title this one Chocolate Shoes!

This card is for the "She's got a ticket to stamp" challenge, our card had to have some form of ticket on it ... as I knew I had a ticket stamp I decided to fish it out and came up with this card.

My final card for today was for the "Nail Polish, Mud Mask & Lotion Challenge". Our card had to contain some masking. I stamped the penguins, created a mask which I put over them. I also used a torn mask to create the ice area of the card. With both masks in place I brayered in the sky and then stamped the trees in the background. When all this was completed I removed both masks.

Here is another sneak peek at the new Riley stamps which will be released by Hanna Stamps on the 1st February. This one is all set for St Patricks Day which when you think about it isn't all that far away.

I am having so much fun playing with these new stamps and as I had a couple of friends here yesterday and was showing them how to make "kick stand" cards ... I decided to make another of these myself this time with Riley on it.

Virtual Stamp Night!

Just a reminder to everyone that this weekend is Virtual Stamp Night on SCS.

VSN begins on Friday at 6pm EST; Saturday begins at 12 noon EST. Challenges are posted every hour until 11pm EST each day in the VSN forum .

For any Aussies wishing to join in the fun these times convert to 9am Saturday and 3am Sunday morning (Qld time) ... and no I won't be there at 3am .... but I will be there for most of the weekend. Come on over and say hi.

Easter Riley

Here is another sneak peek of the new Riley stamps to be released by Hanna Stamps on the 1st February. Isn't this just so cute ... Riley popping out of an Easter Egg ... I know Easter seems a long way away ... but in reality it isn't and don't be fooled cause this year Easter falls at the end of March not April like it normally does .... I believe my birthday is actually Easter Monday this year ;)

This card is for a challenge I do with my fab/sassy friends on SCS .... this week we had to create a card using paper piecing ... if you look at the egg on the card you will see I paper pieced the same paper onto the egg as I used for the bottom of the panel .... you might need to look closer but it is there ..... I promise. I also paper pieced the bow and raised the bow section up using foam tape.

I also decided to use this card to play in this months DD sketch challenge on SCS .... I think I have skipped a couple of months playing their sketches so I really wanted to make sure I did it this time round.

Meet Riley Moose!

Have you met Riley Moose yet???? Isn't he just he cutest!!!!! Riley is a new line of stamps which will be released on the 1st February by Hanna Stamps. These stamps come in both wood mounted and unmounted red rubber ... your choice!

It's Wednesday today so time for another sketch challenge from SCS as you can see I decided to create my card with one of the new Riley Moose images . I stamped Riley onto white card twice using black ink, the second image I cut out the head only and attached that over the head of the base panel. I used my ticket corner punch and my paper piercing mat and tool to create my corners .... as you can see I omitted the paper piercing on the bottom right hand corner.

The "Happy Birthday 2 U" circle sentiment is one from Lizzie Anne Designs .... I layered this using my circle nestabilities.

Wishes Come True!

My Gina K ordered arrived yesterday morning, how cool that these arrived the same day that Gina announced her new design team for the coming 3 months ..... you can see her post here. I couldn't believe it when I first opened up the email from Gina to inform me I was on her team this round ..... I am so looking forward to it!

I had a busy day yesterday as I had a friend over and we went shopping for square envelopes which we found but I also managed to find some new DP during my travels too ... this one used here is one of them. Of course I had to make a card last night using one of my new stamps and some of my new DP ;)

Yeah I know it is bright .... you might need sunnies (hehehehe!), but I just had to use that DP with the giraffe .... I think it would make a great kids birthday card!

I stamped the giraffe onto my white card using black ink, and colored ... I just love those hearts instead of spots on the giraffe's back ...... I was tempted to turn this into a valentines card but I figured I had enough of those here for now esp considering my DH doesn't do valentines hehe! I masked the giraffe so that I could add the grass and clouds around her.

For the pink panel I used my heart cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss just the top section of the card, this was a little tricky when I came to the other side of the card ... but as the band was going across the card anyway ... I just folded the card there so I could get it in my machine! Shhhhh don't tell! I added the DP across the card and added my ribbon. Stamped my verse below on the portion of the pink card that I hadn't embossed and then mounted this all to my folded white card.

Lets Do Lunch

I just love this fish stamp .... it was one of the first I had to have when I was able to order from Rubbernecker's web site last year!!!! A few years back I created a card in a fish bowl shape so I decided to do that with these stamps too .... that poor worm just can't go anywhere to escape!!!!

The fish bowl is hand drawn and cut out and then I stamped the images into the bowl using black ink. I stamped all the images again on scrap paper and cut these out ... cutting slightly inside the line... these I used to cover the images (mask) so that I could then using my shaving brush to apply my blue ink to the remaining areas of the fish bowl. The verse was stamped on white card, cut into individual letters, layered to orange card and then attached to the fish bowl.

Penguins Playing in Snow!

This card is for this weeks MFT sketch challenge over at the MFT member forums of SCS. I decided to play with my Winter Blast set and also some of the fantastic digital papers available on My Favorite Thing's website.

The top circle and square layers were created using my circle and square nestabilities ... these make layering so easy, and I love the look of the scallop layers. The penguins were stamped onto the white circle using black ink. The snowflakes I used here are actually part of a background stamp avail in "Icing on the Cake" I just inked up one of the little star/snow pieces of the background in sky blue ink to create my snowflakes in the sky.

Shoot to the Moon!

It's time for another CCEE Monday challenge that I do with my goofy CCEE friends on SCS. On the 2nd Monday of each month my CCEE friends and I create a card for a fellow SCSer that has a fun or catchy name, we have decided to call this SCS Goofy Name Feature ... hehehe! Can you work out who our GNFS card is for this month????

If you guessed Papermoon04 then you are correct ... are directions for this card was to make a card with a moon shape on it. Any moon shape was ok, it could be half moon, crescent moon ... full moon .... I think you get the picture! But there was a twist to this card ... nothing can be easy for a CCEE challenge LOL ... the twist was that our card had to be made with only colors in the gray family ... no black ... just gray ... but we were able to use white .... phew!

I have a number of moon stamps but none that I truly wanted to be a feature of a card .... I did think about using my cricut too ... but having to use only grays I thought using the cricut would be limiting ... while I was looking through my personal catty it finally came to me as I spied my stampscape moon stamp and lakeside cabin scene which to be honest haven't been inked for a number of years. And for something different what about using stampbord to stamp my image on.

First up I stamped the lakeside cabin onto my piece of stampbord using my Stone Gray Stazon Ink pad. The moon stamp was then added to the top of the board using the same ink, dry with heat gun. I then sponged all over the board using slate adirondack ink. Once this was dry, I went over the image with a scratch knife to remove areas of gray to reveal the white underneath. Once finished it was layered to gray card to complete my card.

Hey Sexy!

Hehehehe did that get your attention!!!!!!! It's Sunday so time for another Featured Stamper challenge on SCS, today's featured stamper is Veronica aka I'mVeronica on SCS. After browsing through Veronica's gallery I decided to CASE this card. I decided on this one as I wanted to play with the latest Hanna stamps which were released just over a week ago ... my stamps were late arriving to me due to a mix up so I wasn't able to get many sneak peeks done.

As per the featured stamper rules, I had to make at least 2 changes to my card, here are my changes:

• Changed the main images used
• Changed the background stamps
• Changed the colors
• Widen my band across the centre of the card
• Added ribbon to my centre band
• Added a rectangle tab for the verse below centre band
• Added brads to the top corners of the base card
• Added paper piercing to the main image layer
• Paper pieced the dress for the image

A Card and some Exciting News!!!

First up the exciting news!!!!!!! I have been asked to join the Design Team of Rubbernecker Stamps as a Guest Designer for two months!!!!! I just love Rubbernecker Stamps and couldn't wait for the web site to be up and running late last year. I am looking forward to sharing with you my creations using these stamps in the coming couple of months.

To celebrate this news I just had to make a card last night and in fact I had to make one anyway as my sassy and fab friends on SCS are waiting for a challenge card for me this week as it is time to get back to them after our Christmas break. Our theme this week was to use "new toys", and as my Rubbernecker stamps arrived a couple of days before Christmas they are indeed new toys! The DP is another new toy as I received this for Christmas ... and the rectangle nestabilities are fairly new too!

I decided to do another kick stand card which is the sketch challenge this week at SCS. By chance I have picked a similar type of color scheme ie chocolate chip with a color ... I didn't mean to do this when I set out but this is the way it happened.

Be Mine!

This is a very simple card using a combination of stamps from 2 of the latest sets to be released by My Favorite Things this Wednesday 9th January. The layout for this card was taken from a sketch challenge I found on Kurtis' Stampin' Kub Blog.

The sets used on this card are Happy Occasions, Be Mine & also It's Elemental ... the first 2 are the ones which are new.

I stamped the frame (Happy Occasions) onto white card using black ink and embossed it and then I cut out the frame. I also used my hole punch to punch out all the holes that are in the design around the scallop. I also used the heart with arrow from the same set and stamped that in the middle of the frame using red ink for all but the arrow portion of the image. The heart in this set is plain and I guess I could have left it that way .... but I decided I would use one of the sweetheart hearts (Be Mine) from the other set and layered this over the solid heart using foam tape. This was all then layered to the top of the card over the strip made from black and red layers.

I created two rows of piercing along the bottom of my card using my paper piercing mat & too and between the piercing I stamped the xxxxxx border (It's Elemental) .... I figured this looked like a lot of kisses ..... perfect for a Valentines Day Card ;) . And finally the verse (Be Mine) was stamped just above the top row of piercing.

Just Mucking About!

I have a friend who likes pigs and who is celebrating her birthday this month so I made this card for her. Most of the images for this card are from the new set "Punny Farm" to be released by My Favorite Things on the 9th January.

For this card I decided that the girl in this scene also like pigs ... so much that she even dresses to co ordinate with the pig ... hehehe ... hence all the pink & black! Both the girl and the pig were stamped onto the card using black ink, I stamped these images again onto scrap paper to create a mask and placed this over both images. I then stamped the grass (It's a Jungle Out There) along the bottom of the card using olive pastel fluid chalk and sponged the sky using my cloud template. I removed my masks to color the images .... the shirt of the girl was stamped onto some DP and cut out and paper pieced onto the girl.

To make my nestabilites fit the size I needed for this scene .. I cut out 2 rectangle nestabilities from the pink card and then overlapped the scallops to make the size I needed. If you haven't tried this yet it is pretty easy to do and because you are laying over the top of the scallop shape it is pretty hard to find the join. I sponged black ink around the edges of the scallops and all the other pink layers on this card. To create the background for this card I just randomly stamped the "oink" stamp all over the pink card using black ink.

The stamps used here are from "Punny Farm", this is a fun set with a variety of different farm animals including a cow, sheep, pig, chickens, a horse, cat, mouse and a farm girl. It also includes some cute sayings to go with the images. Also used here is one of MFT's new digital paper packs, the pack I used here was Kiss Collection - Pink. These are fantastic because once you purchase them and download them you can print them straight from your computer over & over again!

This style of card is called a "Kick Stand Card" and this was the sketch challenge today on SCS. I have been wanting to create one of these ever since I first saw it on KED's blog last year. But you know how it is, there are soooo many things out there you want to try you don't always have the time to do them all.


The cows are stamped on the white card and masked to stamp the grass (It's a Jungle Out There) and sky. I stamped the cows heads again on scrap white card and cut them out and attached over the cows heads using foam tape. It may be hard to see in my photos, but on the back bottom panel I used my paper piercing mat & tool to create three rows of paper piercing. And of course I used my scallop rectangle nestabilities die to create the large scallop shape which fitted my image perfectly.

Sugar is Sweet!

Here is another sneak peek at one of the new stamp sets to be released by My Favorite Things on 9th January. My DH isn't big on Valentines Day so I don't normally make these types of cards .... but he just might get one this year .. hehe :). This set is called Be Mine and I just love the sweetheart candy images and this verse.

I have had this heart cuttlebug embossing folder for sometime now but until now I don't think I have used it ... I used this to create the background to my card and then sponged all over the raised areas using red ink to highlight parts of the background.

It's Finished!

Earlier last week I posted a sneak peek of the new set which was released last Friday by Hanna Stamps. At the time I posted my stamps had still not reached me due to some mix up ... well they finally arrived yesterday so I was able to bet my card finished!!! Yahhhhh!!!!!

I did need to make a little adjustment ... I over estimated the size of the lips so I had to carefully pull off the circle shapes I had on there already and replace it with one slightly smaller as the lips just looked silly on such a large circle ... there are disadvantages of creating a card when you don't have the stamps yet LOL esp when you don't have a real size picture of it to go by.

Anyway here is now all finished .... hope it was worth waiting for!

Precious Little Lamb!

This card is a little different for me in that I would not normally use these colors together to create a baby card, however recently when Kim of My Favorite Things sent me my stamps so I can create my cards for the MFT design team the ribbon I used here was tied around them ... I really loved this ribbon and wanted to use it on one the the cards I created with the stamps. When I saw the sketch for this week's MFT sketch challenge I just knew that I had to use it for that card and as I also wanted to use one of the new sets to be released on 9th January I decided on this baby card.

The lambs are from the new set "punny farms". I stamped these onto my white card using black ink and then used liquid applique to create fluffy looking sheep. My liquid applique is very old so it was hard to apply it to the sheep I actually had to open the tube and squeeze it onto a plate and brush it on ... newer LA would look much better. I used my baby cuttlebug embossing folder to create the background on the chocolate chip card and then sponged it with white ink to highlight the words. I also used my spots and dots embossing folder to create the background on the pink strip. The ribbon is tied around the lower section of the card with the little tags hanging down from the bow.

Owl's It Goin'?

Hmmm it seems like I have been stamping lots of owls lately sorry if you don't like owls ... but you all know I do! This card was created for a challenge I do with my CCEE friends on SCS, we had a short break due to the Christmas & New Year holidays but we are all excited to be playing again.

Our challenge this week was to do a technique that my friend Tosh enjoys doing .... that is using kraft card and coloring the image with pastels. I have tons of pastels in this house and hardly ever use them ... so I loved the opportunity to get some of them out and play. The hardest part of this challenge was deciding what image to use .... during the break we had I took the opportunity to update my personal stamping catty and one of the stamps I had to stamp into it was this owl I got some months back but hadn't added to my catty ..... as soon as I saw it I knew it was the stamp for this challenge.

I stamped the owl onto the kraft card using black ink and then colored using my pastels. Everything else about this card I think is pretty much easy to figure out .... I added photo corners to each of the corners of the card and the pieces underneath the owl image are actually an oval shape cut in half.

Give a Hoot Post It Note Holder!

Today's featured stamper on SCS is Nancy Riley aka Stampinat6213 .... I am not sure that I have seen Nancy's gallery previously but I did enjoy visiting it today. While searching through Nancy's gallery I found a number of cards I was considering CASEing but then I came across this post it note holder and I decided this would be something different to CASE for a change.


For the featured stamper challenge the rules are that you need to change at least 2 things ... for the post it note holder I CASEd. Here is what I changed:

• changed the colors
• changed the image used
• changed the background used
  
• added scallop border to my image
• added brads to my image
• omitted the tab verse at the bottom
• basically I changed everything except the post it note holder

Down the Hatch!

Beate is back with her weekend sketch challenges !!!!!!!!!!! Yah what fun! I was catching up my blog reading last night on my google reader when I noticed on one of the posts that Beate's sketch challenges were back ... as yet I hadn't seen her sketch and it was still a little early. Anyway as I knew that today I would be busy with other stamping I need to get working on this weekend I thought I would get my card made there and then cause I know the sketch would have just kept sidetracking me today if I didn't.

I decided to use some of my new stamps from Rubbernecker. The background is stamped onto river rock using black ink and I also sponged around the edges of the card using the same black ink and layered this to black card. I stamp my main image (the martini) onto white card using black ink, sponged the edges using river rock ink and colored the image, layer this to black and pomegranate card. I used my circle nestabilities to create all the layers for my verse. The band across the card has been stamped using CHF's weave backgrounder ... I use this background a lot!

Fish You a Great Day!

Well I finally got some stamping done yesterday afternoon and created this card ... as I mentioned in yesterdays post it was inspired by two other cards I made earlier in the week my fishy fishy card and my sneak peek ... maybe card .... which btw I haven't forgotten about I am still waiting for the stamps to finish that card hopefully that will be early next week!

I think this is about the 3rd card I have created using this particular sketch in the past week or so ... I am enjoying it so much .... I am sure i will move on eventually but I may come back to it every so often :) .... btw I originally found this sketch on Captain Crafters blog.

This is a fairly simple card ... I stamps the ocean bed onto white card and cut it out and attached to the bottom of my folded blue card. I used my corner punch to create the scallops along the bottom edge of my rectangle panel and finally I used my circle nestabilities to create all my circles for the card ... I stamped the fish to the white circle, colored the fish and then sponged around the white space with my celeste blue impress ink pad. Oh and I also added brads to this one of course!

Snowman Poop Bag!

Ok .... yes I know this is a little late ... but as I was thinking about what to post today, I went looking in my to upload file I have on my computer and discovered this ... it has been a pretty hectic day here and so far haven't gotten around to actually stamping anything ... I do have idea which I want to play around with tonight .. inspired by two other cards I posted here this week ... so hopefully you will get to see that tomorrow all going well.

This fun little purse was a fun thing I did with a couple of friends of mine who come to my place each month for a small stamping club .... last month my friend Maryann showed us how to make these cute little purses which can contain a small plastic bag full of fun treats like chocolate coated peanuts or mini marshmallows to represent the snowman poop!

This was just a quick one I did on the day ... the ends of my verse aren't exactly how I would like them ... but it gives me the idea so that if I want to make some for another Christmas down the track I can.

I promise no more Christmas stuff until much later in the year!

Fishy Fishy!

For some reason today it took me a while before I finally settled on what to do for this week's sketch challenge on SCS. It's not because I dislike the sketch because I don't but I am just feeling very lazy! I finally decided to go with some of the fish stamps I recently got from Rubbernecker Stamps ... after all I have been wanting these stamps for such a long time and until today I hadn't used them.

I am not 100% happy with the card .... but I don't think it is horrible either so here it is! I used my paper piercing mat and tool to do the piercing down the right side of the card.

This card is for this week's MFT sketch challenge over on the members forums of SCS ..... as you know I love doing sketch challenges.

I decided to make a birthday card this week ... you can't make tooo many birthday cards cause there is always someone having a birthday that you need to send a card to .... and I do need to build up a bit of a stash ready for all the 2008 birthdays this year.

I decided to get out my retro stack pack again from DCWV for background .... I am loving this DP and I figured the dots went well with the dress. I guess you could say this is a very dotty card .... hehe!

Hanna Rocks!

Happy New Year everyone .... I know for many of you, you are still for the new year to arrive ... I hope you enjoy your celebrations whatever they may be.

I still don't have my stamps we didn't have any postal deliveries yesterday and of course today is a holiday too ... so I have to now wait till tomorrow with my fingers crossed. However I did have a couple of images that Kristi has sent previously so I am using them to make my cards for your sneak peeks for this weeks Hanna Stamps release. Of course using stamped images isn't the same has having the stamp as I am limited with what I can use/show you but I am gonna try! Here is the new Hanna image from the Valentines Day set to be released on Friday 4th January ... do you like her new "do"?? If you prefer her with long hair never fear she will be back with long hair next month ;)

I just love this new Valentines Day set ... I know we are calling it a Valentines set ... but honestly it can be used for sooooo many occasions ... Hanna herself dressed to hit the town and the accessories in this set are very very versatile!

I hope you like my card for this sneak peek ... if I had the stamps I would have paper pieced the dress ... but I don't so I just colored it red ..... the verse I used here is from the words Hanna would say set ... this is another great set with words suitable for so many different cards .... you can never have tooo many word sets!
