Stamp on Days that end with "Y"

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce our challenge hostess for the month, which is Lynn McAuley.

Saturday (4th July) will be the birthday of America. For our challenge this week we were asked to make a card showing how you will celebrate the day (cook outs, parades, fireworks, or just at home reading a good book).

As most of you know, I live in Australia so Saturday will not be a special day for me. I normally make my cards for this challenge a week or two before the challenge and right now I don't have any particular plans for the day, like going shopping etc. As I pretty much get to stamp everyday even if it is for an hour or two, it is a pretty safe bet that I will do that on the day. So for my card today I went with a stamping theme.

I have been stamping for over 25 years and when I first started stamping many stamp companies sold stamp themed rubber stamps whether they would be an image of someone/something stamping; stamping equipment or sentiments. People used these to create cards, mail art and various other projects. And of course I collected a fair few of these stamps, so it was fun to pull them out and play with some of them.

For my card today I created a Pop Up Card using the Lots of Pops Pop Up Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I drew in a floor at the bottom of my stamping bear and cut it off straight so decided to add a floor to the base of my Pop Up card. I added my favorite sentiment .... 'I only stamp on days that end with "Y" ' using the labels from the Katie Label Pivot Card die set. Along the bottom edge of the card I added the flourish from the Agatha Edges die set.

Here is another view of my card so you can see the pop up part of my card a little easier. As my image was long and narrow, I decided to create two additional pop up boxes to give the edges of the image more support.

I added black glitter dots to the strip of pink card at the top of my card.

For the front of my card I added another stamp themed sentiment on my fish tail flags. Hmmm I think these days I need to add dies to both these sayings ... can't imagine not using dies when I create a card anymore.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:
