Super Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month, it's time to introduce a new challenge hostess, which is ME!

Just like Slimline & Mini Slimline cards, the  5 x 7 inch card size is becoming more and more popular. For this week’s challenge create a 5 x 7 inch card.

I have been looking forward to be able to play with the male version of the Missees range of dies ... these sets are called Missees Man. There are two different die sets right now, Andrew and Brian. For my card today I used mostly dies and stamps from the Andrew set, however the mouth is from the Brian set.

Most of the cards I have made using the Missees die sets to date have either been Slimline or Mini Slimline sized, so making this for today's challenge it was fun to be able to make a 5 inch x 7 inch card size.

For the boy, I used my grandson for inspiration. I am not sure it really looks like him, but it does have red hair just like him. For his t-shirt I decorated the front using the batman logo using a die from Frantic Stamper.

I used Lawn Fawn's Window Frame die which I added to the background of my card. I adhered a scene from a piece of patterned paper behind the window.

For the sentiment I used a die from Whimsy Stamps' Comic Speech Bubble die set and a sentiment from Frantic Stamper's Superheroes stamp set.

For the inside of my card, I added the layers using Waffle Flower's A7 Layers die set. 

The sentiment uses the Happy Birthday To You die from Lawn Fawn.

I added two more of the Batman logos to the card.

Baby Boy Treat Box

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Maryann Einam our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

For our challenge this week Maryann has requested that we .... Create a bag, box or container that can be used to contain a party favour.

For today's challenge I decided to pull out my Tonic Studio's Deco-Edged Square Cracker Box die set. This die set allows you to create Christmas Crackers, but with a little trimming before assembling you can also make some fun boxes with it.

When I was looking through the die set at the decorative overlay dies, I saw the one that had moons & stars on it, so decided to use this one to make a box which could be used at a baby shower.

After decorating the treat box, I then added the ribbon and the baby boy tag. The tag was created by using a Frantic Stamper Square Vignette Baby Insert die, I then stamped the word "Boy" underneath the baby word.

Super Duper Birthday

Today I am sharing another Surprise Ball Pop-up Card that I made for my daughter's birthday at the end of October. My daughter loves super heroes, so I just had to make a Super Hero Surprise Ball Pop-up for her.

If you don't already know the Surprise Ball Pop-up and the Flap and Closure die sets are both new dies released by Karen Burniston (KB Riley LLC) yesterday.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action. One thing I have learnt while making these that the thicker your cardstock, the more pop you will achieve when the card pops up. My black cardstock is a little less weighty than my colored and white cardstocks, so the bounce isn't as pronounced as my others ... but it still does have the surprise bounce when you open it.

To decorate the ball, I used stamps from Sunny Studios stamps, one or two of the sentiments on the ball are from a MFT Stamps stamp set.

Along the edge of the card just above the flap, I added a City Scape die.

Here is an over head view of my card, so you can see the whole card. I used a die from Frantic Stampers for the birthday sentiment on the top portion of the card.

Here is a closeup shot of the ball, as you can see I alternated an image and a sentiment around the ball.

I kept the front of the card simple as the action is all on the inside. I added another of the super heroes and added a sentiment, using the Heffy Doodles "Super" die.

Welcome Little Baby

Today I am sharing a baby card which was requested by my daughter. One of her friends is having a baby in 2019 but doesn't want to know whether it will be a baby boy or girl and doesn't want to know ... so of course I had to keep away from the traditional blues or pinks and keep it neutral.

I pulled out my Our Daily Bread Designs Tri Fold Card die set to create my card today. 

To decorate my card I used the baby die set from Marianne Design and also the baby feet die set. The "Baby" sentiment is from Frantic Stamper. Along the right hand side of the card I added the "Congratulations" sentiment which is part of a die set from MFT Stamps. I die cut the sentiment from white pearl cardstock and also green cardstock and offset the white sentiment over the green so that the sentiment had a shadow.

For this card I decided to decorate the back of the card as well, adding the same patterned paper I used on the front and a sentiment.

Here is a look at my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Twins Are Twice As Nice!

A few weeks ago my youngest daughter put in a card order for two baby cards that she will need for a couple of friends who are having babies next year. One of her friends is expecting twins ... a boy and a girl, so I finally got to use all those twin stamps I purchased years ago and hadn't used until now. I knew one day I would need it.

For the background of my card I used an older MFT Stamps die set .... Horizontal Stitched Stripes which contains various sizes of stitched rectangles. I die cut two blue and two pink and adhered them to the front of my card.

To decorate the front, I used Lili of the Valley's Twice as Nice stamp set which came with the twins image and the sentiment also used on the front. I also added a few hearts that I got in a Simon Says Stamp card kit some time ago.

For the inside of the card I created a pop-up card using the pop-up die from Karen Burniston's Explosion Pop-up die set. 

This time around I used a larger rectangle from the same Horizontal Stitched Rectangles die set I used on the front and adhered it on the inside, alternating the colors.

I used the labels from the Katherine Label Pop-up die set for the "Twins" sentiment, die cutting the larger label twice, one each from blue and pink and cutting in half and then adhering the two together.

I used one of the ovals from the Crosshatch Ovals die set for the larger sentiment and then added the feet again die cutting from blue and pink cardstock.

I used the "Girl" and "Boy" die cuts to the top portion of the card.

Bam! Zap! Pow! Super Birthday

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month it is  time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is Amy Ottmers.

Apparently today is "Free Comic Book Day", so our challenge this week is to make a "Super Hero" card/project.

My youngest daughter has been very into Super Heroes for years and I remember her going to the city on this day each year to visit the comic shops there to get free comic books. 

I have a number of "Super Hero" stamps/dies to select from and decided to use these cuties from C.C. Stamps ... I couldn't decide whether to use the boy or the girl ... so as you can see I used both! 

To create my card I started by die cutting the Cupcake Pop-up into a white card. Now when Karen Burniston released this die set last year I never thought I would use this as a generic pop-up die but I seem to reach for it all the time. It is perfect to have things pop up with a little height and each to disguise the cupcake. The two super heroes fit perfectly on the cupcake pop-up.

I used the galaxy sky technique for my background of my card using various colors of Distress Oxides. I then spritz the background with water from a Distress Sprayer and splattered watered down Copic Opaque White all over the background.

On the rectangle pop-up panel below the cupcake I added the City Skyline using black and gold cardstock.

The yellow & black "Bam! Zap! & Pow! die cuts are a set from Frantic Stamper. 

To finish off the inside of the card I added a birthday sentiment which I added using the label dies from Karen's Katherine Label Pop-up.

As the focus of this card is on the inside, I kept the front fairly simple. I repeated the galaxy sky background and then added the Zap! Bam! Pow! die cuts to my card. To fill in the gaps I added the star from Frantic Stampers Heroic Symbols die set to which I added a blue Nuvo drop in the centre of the three full symbols.

Favorite Super Hero

Today I am sharing a card I created recently using Stamping Bella's SuperBella stamp set which I received for Christmas. SuperBella is stamped and cut out and then attached to the card using foam tape.

I kept the layout of the inside of the card fairly similar to that on the outside. I added a birthday sentiment from Frantic Stamper Inc.

Super Birthday

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Liz Williams our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Apparently Tomorrow is Liz's birthday, as it is Bill Clinton, and in honor of Orville Wright (who also shares this birthday with Liz), Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a proclamation to make it National Aviation Day. I thought it would be fun to hunt down an image of something man has made fly in the air. It might be an airplane, helicopter, rocket, jet, or hot air balloon. If none of these are available to you, how about a kite or a simple birthday balloon? Our bonus can be to make it a birthday card!!! 

Now I confess that I have gone a tiny bit off brief for this week's challenge (sorry Liz!) ... but when I was thinking about the challenge and things that fly, I couldn't help but think about one of the new dies I purchased a month or two ago the Flying Hero. Of course it looks a like Superman and I thought of the saying that used to intro the tv show way back when ... "It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman!" as I have been wanting to play with this die I decided to use that for my card this week. But just so that I am not completely off brief ... if you look at the top right hand corner there is a plane in the air :)

As you can see I have again used the Twist Circle Pop Up die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I seem to have been using this die set for the last few CCEE challenges, but I am having sooooooo much fun with it and it really suited this die set.

I turned the circle into a moon and used the Stage It Stencil - Petite Flourish to create the moon craters (I kept moving the stencil after sponging with ink, to get the cratered look).

I added the City Scape along the lower edge of the card.

I do at least earn bonus points for my card this week as I did make it a birthday card, adding the sentiment to the top left hand corner.

For the front of my card I added another City Scape and also added the Simply Super Shield.

Hope Your Birthday is Super!

Yesterday I shared a Super Hero card which would be suitable for a male/boy, today I am sharing a girly Super Hero version.

This time around I used the Katie Label Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. This is my favorite of all the Pivot Cards but for some reason I haven't played with it for a while, so I was glad to be able to play with it for this card.

I used Super Twila to decorate my card and along the bottom edge of the designer paper I added a Skyline. 

I love the Frantic Stamper Inc. Pow, Zap, Bam die set this makes it super easy to decorate the card. I also added a sentiment from a Penny Black stamp set which had just the right sentiment for this card.

I really love how this card turned out :)
