Dragonfly Slimline

 Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a dragonfly themed Slimline Pop-up card I created recently.

I started this card with the front ... using the Creative Expressions Dragonfly Edger die set. I have had this die for some time now, and it was great to get it out to play. When I was figuring out what size card to make, I saw how easily it would fit on a slimline card. I did make my slimline 4 inches wide to give it plenty of room.

I die cut another dragonfly from white cardstock that had double sided adhesive tape on the front. I then covered the adhesive with Rose Copper Microfine Glitter from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I added a sentiment to the lower right hand corner which is from My Creative Life's With Love Stamp set.

You can see how the wings of the dragonfly are raised from the card base.

For the inside of my card I created a pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Raising Platform Pop-up die set. I added a stamped Happy Birthday to the white label.

I decorated the inside of the card using small dragonflies, using Karen Burniston's Flutter Charms die set.

Fin-tastic Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a under the sea themed Pop-up Slimline card I created recently.

Last year, I had the opportunity to purchase Sheena's Treasures of the Deep Collection at a really good price, so as I love anything under the sea themed, I grabbed it. I put the collection away to use as a Christmas gift to myself, so I can finally start playing with the products in the collection.

For my card today I created a Slimline Card. I used papers which are also part of the collection for my background. I used the Ghost Ship Stencil to add detail to all of the layers of my background, both inside and out.

To create my scene I used stamps/dies from the Dolphin Dance and Shells sets from the collection.

I created a pop-up card for the inside of the card, using Karen Burniston's Raising Platform Pop-up die set.

The sentiments are from some older mermaid themed stamp sets, except for the "Fin-tastic" which was included in the Dolphin Dance stamp set.

January 2024 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our January Karen Burniston Designer Challenge, our first challenge for 2024.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is ... "RAISE IT UP!" - Make a card of any theme that uses the Raising Platform Pop-up.

For my card today, I decided to create a 5" x 7" landscape card. As you can see by the photo above, I added two of the Raising Platform mechanism dies to each side of my card, to create a double pop-up. I positioned the pop up at 2 1/2" from each edge as recommended in Karen Burniston's assembly video.

However rather than use the label for the pop ups, I cut a piece of pink card that was 5 1/2" x 2 3/4" and folded it in half to make a 2 3/4" square panel. I added this panel to the pop up mechanism, lining the top of the panel slightly lower than the top of the card. I did this to both pop up mechanisms.

I then decorated each pop up piece with card layers, sentiments and cupcakes/candles.

The cupcakes are from the Cupcake Add-ons die set and the candles from the Birthday Candles Add-ons die set.

To finish off the inside of the card, I added the "You're Sweet" sentiment which I cut apart, so I can added one word at the top and one on the bottom of my card.

As the focus of my card is on the inside, I kept the front of the card fairly simple. I added three more cupcakes along the bottom of the card. I also added the Happy Birthday and Happy Birthday Shadow die sets to add the sentiment.

Today I am sharing a gift set which includes a Slimline Pop-up card, a mini gift bag and a Candy Heart Box. First up I am sharing my slimline card.

The photo above shows the inside of the card. For this I have used the new Raising Platform Pop-up die set. I can see me having a lot of fun with this die set in the future, and the great thing is that it fits into a Slimline card that is at least 3 1/2 inches wide.

I used the Small Script - Christmas die set to add the Christmas sentiment to the pop-up label. I added another of the large labels in white in the lower right hand corner of the card as a place to write a hand written greeting. I added candy canes which are from the Christmas Borders 2 die set. I used the Candy Cane Border and cut them apart.

I kept the front of my card simple. The circles on the front are from the Mini Gift Bag die set and I added more of the candy canes to the circles.

As mentioned above I also made matching Candy Box and Mini Gift Bag.

For the Gift Box, I used the new Candy Heart Gift Box, with comes with Hearts and Conversation Hearts ... perfect for Valentine's Day and anything love related. As Christmas is only a few week's away I decided to use it to make a Christmas themed gift Box. As you can see, I added another Candy Cane to the centre of the square window opening.

And finally a coordinating gift bag using the new Mini Gift Bag die set. This is perfect for tiny treats or gifts or even a gift card. I added a Christmas sentiment to the tiny gift tag which is also included in the set.

The circle in the centre of the bag, is also from the die set and I added another of the candy canes.

Well that's about it from me today, thank you for dropping by. To continue on the blog hop, click on the next person on the list, which is Jennifer Webster

To You and Your Gnomies

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Gnome themed Slimline Card I created recently. I used Spellbinders/Stampendous Gnome Hugs die set and coordinating stamp set to create the gnomes on this card.

I used Lawn Fawn's Stitched Hillside Borders die set to create my snowy hills. The trees in the background of this card is an older Tim Holtz/Sizzix die.

I used a sentiment from Picket Fence Studios for the sentiment at the top of my card.

For the inside of my card, I created a pop-up card using Karen Burniston's new Raising Platform Pop-up die set which is being released next week. I kept the inside fairly simple for this card, just adding the pop-up and the tiny gnome.

December 2023 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our December Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is ... "NAUGHTY OR NICE?" - Make a Christmas card that incorporates a stocking. This can be the Stocking Pop-up or the Holiday Charms stocking or the Fireplace Extras or whatever you can dream up!

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

As you can see by the photos above, I created a Christmas themed Slimline Pop-up card for this month's challenge. Besides being Designer Challenge time, it is also the start of sneak peeks for the release next Monday 11th December, so I couldn't resist adding at least one new die to my card.

For the pop-up portion of my card I used the new Raising Platform Pop-up die set for the top pop up on this card. I added the "Ho Ho Ho" sentiment from the Small Script - Christmas die set to the label. I made my slimline card to measure 3 3/4 inches x 8 1/2 inches to allow for the Raising Platform Pop-up.

The bottom pop-up uses the Stocking Pop-up die set, I like how both pop ups can be used together to create a double pop-up card.

I added more sentiments from the Small Script- Christmas for the "Holly Jolly Christmas" to the left panel of the pop-up.

When the card is opened, the content of the stock is revealed. Besides using the present, bow & candy cane to the inside of the stock which are all from the Stocking Pop-up die set. I also used the bear from the Winter Animals die set and the foliage from the Holiday Charms die set.

For the front of the card I used the fireplace from the Fireplace Pop-up die set and the Fireplace Extras 1 die set. I had to cut the sides of the fireplace down a little so it would fit onto the width of the slimline card.

For the sentiment, I used the Merry Christmas and Merry Christmas Shadow die sets.
