Owl Oval Accordion Pop It Ups Card

KBOvalAccordionOwl2-wm

Hi everyone,

I am excited to share my card with you today as it is using the new “Pop It Ups” range of dies designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Crafts Designs.

My dies arrived in the mail yesterday … I was so excited!!!!!!!! Some of the other DT members have been playing already and I have sooo wanted mine to get here, but it takes a little longer to cross the ocean. When my DH walked into the house with a box from the mail I knew they had arrived.

There are 3 different accordion dies which you can buy Oval (used above); Circle and Fancy Label. Besides the Accordion die you also get 5 decorator dies in each set as you can see in the pics below. Karen has put together an awesome video which shows you just how easy it is to create one of these cards using her dies. You can find the video on Karen’s blog post here.

Also available to use with these accordion cards are frame edges. For the ovals there are two different sets available and you have a long and shorter die in each set. Cut 2 of each size die from any card or designer paper and you can easily give your accordion card a fun new look. You can also use these dies to create frames on any type of card you want to add a frame too.

*** Tip: One tip I found on Karen’s video is to apply your adhesive to the back of your card you are using for the frames before die cutting them … especially if you are using the dot frames. You could use a xyron, adhesive sheets or tape to do this.

The hardest thing about using these dies was deciding which die to use first! My fellow DT member Caz asked me yesterday on Facebook which I would be using first and I didn’t really have a clue till I actually got the dies in my hand.

I used the Oval Accordion Card die for my card today. I cut two pieces for Kraft card and then two of the larger ovals in the set from white card. I then used the Oval Dots Frame Edges die to decorate my card. These were amazingly easy to line up and apply to my card.

Many of the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Design Team members seem to have been creating some fun Owl cards using the new dies … so of course I had to create one too (after all I love dies, as it seems do many of the DT!) So I pulled out this cute Penny Black Owl stamp which I have had for a while waiting to be used.

What a great card, and Owls are my favorites. Wonderful coloring of the Owls and I liked the choice of papers.
