Buffalo Plaid Christmas

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Kelly Santi our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

For our challenge this week Kelly has given us the theme of ... Buffalo Plaid!
Create a card using black and white (or any color if you don't have b/w) buffalo plaid as the focal point.

To create my card, I pulled out Scrapbook.com's Slimline Buffalo Check die. I die cut the buffalo check die using black cardstock and then adhered this to the front of to top folding slimline card.

I have made many black and white cards over the years, but I don't think I have made one with a Christmas theme before. It's a little different and I like it.

As you can see I decided to create a Christmas card using the black and white color combo, adding a pop of red and green.

I used Lawn Fawn's Giant Merry Christmas for the sentiment, die cutting it three times from white cardstock and layering the die cuts on top of each other. I layered this onto an elongated oval from Spellbinders.

To embellish the card I added holly & berries using a die from Papertrey Ink.

I die cut the Slimline Buffalo Check die one more time, trimmed it down so I had two panels of two checks wide and adhered this to both edges of the inside of my card.

I added Karen Burniston's new Little Label Pop-up die to the centre of the card.

I added a stamped sentiment (from MFT Stamps) to the centre panel and then added some more of the holly & berries to the to outer labels and smaller ones to the top and bottom of the sentiment label.

I added the circle border which is from the new Border Blends - Trims die set.

Believe in the Magic of Christmas

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Christmas themed Slimline card I created recently.

For the snowy background, I blended various shades of blue Distress Oxide ink onto a piece of white cardstock (list of colors included in supply list). I then used The Ton's Dot Cover Plate to die cut the panel and adhered it to a top folding white slimline card.

I used the snow border included in Trinity Stamps Slimline Scenic Border die set to die cut a piece of white glitter cardstock and  adhered it to the bottom of my card.

Next I stamped the deers and chimney included in Hello Bluebird's Rooftop Reindeer die set and adhered them to the snowy "rooftop".

I used a circle die to die cut a moon and added it to the top right side of my card.

I white embossed two sentiments included in the stamp set onto red cardstock and added them to my card as per photo above.

For the inside of my card, I added another glittered panel for the roof and stamped out two more reindeer and a chimney and adhered them to my scene.

I die cut the Giant Merry Christmas from Lawn Fawn and adhered it towards the right hand side of my card.

Finally I added another white embossed sentiment to the glitter portion of the card.

Fore, Three, Two, One

Hi Crafty Friends,

Have you heard the news???

Today the Karen Burniston Design Team start sharing sneak peeks for the upcoming November release.  Karen Burniston - KB Riley LLC will be releasing 8 new dies which will be available to order on Monday 22nd November.

I was super excited when Karen shared the new Little Labels Pop-up die set. This die fits inside a Slimline card that is 3 1/2 inches wide. I have been having lots of fun playing with it. This die is a glue in die rather than one that needs to be die cut into a card and is super easy to use.

A friend of mine recently asked if I could make two 80th birthday cards, one being for a male who enjoys golf. When I was looking at another card I had created using this die set, I could see how I could adapt the die to create a golf themed card.

The Little Labels Pop-up die set includes a pop-up which has three label shapes that pop-up which are all the same shape and size. For my golf themed card, I trimmed the two outer labels and adhered an embossed circle/golf balls to each of these labels. I positioned the golf balls so that the bottom portion of the label shows which looks a tiny bit like a golf tee. I used a circle die from the Circle Charm Pop-up die set to die cut the circles to create the large golf balls, I then embossed each circle using an older Cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles Embossing Folder.

I added the "80" to the centre label using the numbers from the Numbers die set.

I used the circle border from the Border Blends - Trims die set which I also embossed using the tiny bubbles embossing folder to add to the rectangle panel at the bottom of the pop-up.

To decorate the base of the inside of my card I added the Golf Flag which is an older Magnolia Stamps stamp. The golfing peanuts are from an older "Golfing Nutz" stamp set from Cornish Heritage Farms Tom Fun Collection.

For the birthday sentiment I used the Happy Birthday die and the Happy Birthday Shadow die which is another of the new dies being released this month. I love that we now have the option of adding a shadow to this sentiment.

For the front of my card I used the same patterned papers I used on the inside ... the cloud paper is an American Crafts paper. The grass I used the grass border from Karen Burniston's Long Nature Edges die set, using the green paper from Lawn Fawn's Watercolor Wishes paper collection.

I again used the nuts and flag to create my golfing scene.

To finish off my card I used a older Rubbernecker Stamps golf themed sentiment.

Santa Selfie Slimline

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Christmas themed Slimline card I created recently.

I love the selfie style stamp sets that MFT Stamps has released over the years, I think there are about 5 different stamp sets in the style. So when they released the latest Christmas set designed by Stacey Yacula, I had to add it to my stash.

Of course as I love creating slimline cards, I decided to pull out the Waffle Flower Crafts Slimline Window Trio die set to create my card.

I stamped three of the images from the stamp set which fit perfectly in the windows of the slimline die allowing for a small frame around each square panel.

I stamped three of the sentiments included in the stamp set and die cut them all using the coordinating sentiments dies from the Slimline Window Trio die set.

For the inside of the card I stamped another of the images from the Selfies with Santa stamp set which I cut completely out and adhered the image to the bottom right hand corner of my card.

For the sentiment I die cut a sentiment from Mama Elephant Stamps and then used two sentiment stamps from Lawn Fawn's Merry Mice stamp set.

Joyful Wishes

Hi Crafty Friends,

I am excited to share a Christmas themed Slimline card using Elizabeth Craft Designs Classic Christmas Special Kit that they released about a month ago. This kit contains a Slimline die which is suitable to use anytime during the year, an ornament die set, a snowflake die set and a Christmas sentiment stamp set.

I die cut the slimline die using white cardstock and layered that to a top folding slimline card that measures 3 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches.

I die cut each of the ornaments from white cardstock that had Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front. The three snowflakes and ornament toppers were die cut from gold mirror cardstock. I carefully placed the snowflakes and ornaments toppers onto the adhesive of each of the ornaments. I then covered the ornaments with either True Red and Forest Green Silk Microfine Glitter.

I adhered the ornaments to the front of my slimline card using gold cord on the toppers.

I gold embossed one of the sentiments from the stamp set which I added to the bottom centre of my card.

For the inside of the card, I added two more glittered ornaments onto the card. I added another of the sentiments included in the stamp set in between the ornaments.

Oh Christmas Tree

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. As challenge hostess for the month, I continue to issue the challenges.

Die Cuts Only - create a card that is created using dies only, no stamps. If you must, you can use a stamp for the sentiment, but bonus points if you use dies.

Recently when placing an online order, I found this fun Christmas Tree Flip It style card designed by Studio Light. I have always enjoyed this style of card so I added it to my cart. It finally arrived a few weeks ago, so I decided to pull it out to play for today's challenge.

The die comes complete with the various layering dies.  I die cut the main die from a caramel cardstock and then used patterned paper and red cardstock for the various layers. I used green cardstock for the Christmas Tree.

To decorate the Christmas Tree I used dies from Spellbinders Shopping Cart Holiday & Presents die set. The presents are also from this die set.

As the patterned paper featured various Christmas sentiments, I decided not to add a sentiment to the front side of the card.

Here is a look at my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope. As you can see I adhered a present to the bottom of the tree, this is die cut twice so it can be placed on either side of the tree. I also added a tree and decorated it the same as the one you can see when the card is opened.

I wanted to add a place on my card for a sentiment and a handwritten greeting, so I decided to decorate the back of my card. To do this I had to use the layering dies and die cut from the back of the patterned paper, so the pattern was in the correct direction.

I added MFT Stamps Stacked Merry to the white panel on the right hand side of the card. I stamped a small "Christmas" word below the "Merry" which is from a Hero Arts Hero Greetings Christmas Gift Shop stamp set.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Holly Jolly Christmas

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Christmas themed Centre Step Card using stamps, dies and papers from Divinity Designs.

I used the Center Step Card with Layers die set to create the base of my card from red cardstock. For the layers I used one of the patterned papers from the Red Poinsettias Slimline Paper Pad.

I decorated my card using the new Snowman & Friends stamp set, layering the image using ovals from the Double Stitched Ovals and Ovals die sets.

I added two sentiments to the oval panels using the sentiments included in the stamp set which die cut using dies from the Sentiment Strips with Layers die set.

For the inside of the card, I added a rectangle panel die cut using the Double Stitched Rectangles die set. I added the die cut sentiment using the Merry Christmas & Layers 3 die set.

Tag You're It!

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Kelly Santi our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

Our challenge this week is ... Tag! You're It! Create any style tag to get ready for the holidays!

A month or so ago I purchased Picket Fence Studios' Holiday Gift Tag die set, which contains three different gift tag shapes ... rectangle; square and circle. As I was planning on using this die set to create some of my gift tags for this year, it was the perfect opportunity to pull it out to make my tags for this challenge.

I made four tags from each shaped tag die, so ended up with a total of 12 gift tags.

I die cut each of the tags from red cardstock.

I used square, rectangle and circle nesting dies to die cut the layering shape.

I used images from MFT Stamps Stuffed Santa stamp set to decorate each of the tags.

I threaded gold cord through the hole on each of the top of the gift tags.

On the back of each of the tags I used the "to" and "from" stamps from an older Papertrey Ink Holiday Tag Along kit.

Fields of Joy Slimline

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a slimline card I created recently, using stamps and dies from Hero Arts and Waffle Flower Crafts.

The window and tulip panels were created using Hero Arts Looking Glass Windmill Tulips die set. This is a set of three dies that include two layers of tulips and the windmill layer. I used the dies and a square die from the Hero Arts Infinity Squares nesting dies to create the three layers for the windmill/tulips. I also created a solid background using a square die and then the black frame using two square dies.

The square panels fit perfectly in the Waffle Flower Crafts Slimline Window Trio die set, so I used this to die cut the window panel and adhered this to the front of a top folding slimline card.

I then added the three windmill/tulip panels to each of the windows.

I added a sentiment from Hero Arts Tulip Field Color Layering Scape stamp set.

For the inside of my card, I created the tulip field and windmill using Hero Arts Tulip Field Color Layering Scape stamp set. I stamped each of the layers of the tulip field next to each other to fit on a slimline card. Just to be safe and not wreck my card, I stamped this on a separate piece of white cardstock and then trimmed it down and adhered it to the bottom of the inside of my card.

I added the windmill, also included in the stamp set to the left hand side of the card, and the Hot Air Balloon to the top right hand side.

I added another of the sentiments included in the  stamp set.

Poinsettia Season's Greetings

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Christmas themed Slimline card I created recently.

To create my card I used Creative Expression's Poinsettia Edger die set. I die cut the poinsettia from white cardstock. I splattered gold paint over the panel and also added colored cardstock to the poinsettia, leaves and berries.

I added red patterned paper from the Craft Consortium's Ink Drops Vivid 12 x 12 pad. I splattered gold paint over this panel too.

I added the poinsettia panel to a top folding slimline card using foam tape.

To finish off the front of the card I added the Season's Greetings sentiment which is from The Ton's Easy Expressions Holiday stamp/die set.

For the inside of my card I used one of the scallop borders from Scrapbook.com's Slim Borders die set. I die cut the border from the red paper I used on the front of my card and gold cardstock, layering the two together.

I added Lawn Fawn's Giant Merry Christmas die, die cutting from red and gold cardstock offsetting the gold under the red sentiment.
