Three Wise Monkeys

Hi everyone, 

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being the hostess for the month I continue to issue the challenges.

Did you know that the 25th January is National Opposite Day?  For our challenge this week make a card/project that has opposites on it. Think opposite colors on the color wheel, stripes and polka dots, black and white, mirror image, etc.

I am making use of a card I made as a sample for CHA for this challenge. The buckets on the front of the card are mirror imaged to each other.

As you have probably been told a dozen times by now .... I LOVE the new Jinks the Monkey character die which is one of the new release dies designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs and released earlier this month. 

Once I received this die, I had this idea in my head that I just had to get down onto a card ... make a card using the Three Wise Monkeys ... See No Evil!; Hear No Evil! and Speak No Evil!

I die cut Jinks the Monkey three times and assembled each of the characters ... I chopped the bottom portion of the body of as I didn't need that. I also die cut three of the Barrel Buckets and then placed Jinks inside each so only his tail and head showed. Before placing Jinkz into the buckets I also cut off his arms so that ones in the bucket I could reposition these so that the arms covered his eyes; ears or month depending on which wise monkey it was.

The ric rac piece on the top and bottom sides of the card was created using the die in the Pull Card Edges die set. 

Of course this is a pop up card .... the Barrel Bucket Pop Up Card set .... comes with a small pop up die to use with the barrel bucket if you wish ... this is perfect for being able to place a pop up exactly were you want it. 

This is a fairly wide card so I did need to use my Big Shot Plus to die cut the pop up portion. If you only have a 6 inch die cutting machine you can get around not having a wide machine, by folding the base card in half and placing the score line of the pop up on the fold of the card.

Smile, Giggle or Laugh

It's our The Ink Spot Design Team Challenge time again today over on The Ink Spot Blog.   Our hostess this week is Kelly.

For our challenge this week Kelly has given us the theme .... Animal Antics!  Any CHF/Riley stamp using an animal - extra credit for funny cards! ;)

For my card this week I have used Riley and Company's Smiling Burt and the Funny Bones sentiment "If It Makes You Smile". 

I decided this week to try another Shaker Card using my new Fuse Tool. I have a lot better success with it this time round. I decided to create a see through shaker window so you could see the inside message from the front of the card. 

Here is the inside of my card with the Funny Bones sentiment "If It Makes You Smile".  I used the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Squares for the layering and die cutting the square to hold my shaker pocket.

Karen Burniston January Designer Challenge Day 2

Hi everyone,

It's time for our January Karen Burniston Designer Challenge, our very first challenge for 2016! Our theme this month is NEW! Wide open theme using at least one of the new CHA release products.

For my card today I decided to play with the new Hanging Charm Pull Tab  die set to create a Valentines Card.

This die allows you to create a card the side you wish whether it is a normal A2 card size or a square card like I have created today. You also have the choice as to whether you make your card so that it sits flat on your surface or on the front of a card, or even on the inside of your card if you desire.

This die set comes with 4 charms you can use (I used the heart) or you can place anything you like on the pop up portion of the frame.

For the heart I die cut two hearts which both had Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front and then covered the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.  I added a Pink/Silver Glitter Dot Peel Off Stickers to the centre of each side of the heart. I die cut to pink frames and sandwiched the twine the heart is attached to between the two frames. 

I decorated the frame using Pink/Silver Glitter Dot Peel Off Stickers 

Here is my card when the Pull Tab is closed. I added the word LOVE so it can be viewed through the frame using the Alphabet 1 Caps die set.  I used a reinforcement hole from the Tag Pivot Card die set on the top of my Tab/Tag and also added some twine. 

I used one of the new photo corners from the Els van de Burgt Studio Corners 1 die set.

The stamped images and sentiments are from Penny Black.

On the back of my card I die cut a square from white card using the new Stitched Squares die set.

Karen Burniston January Designer Challenge Day 1

It's time for our January Karen Burniston Designer Challenge, our very first challenge for 2016! Our theme this month is NEW! Wide open theme using at least one of the new CHA release products.

What could be a better theme for the beginning of a brand new year!!!!!

For my card today I decided to pull out the Cup Pop Stand Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.  

Here is another view of my card at a different angle so you can see the Pop Stand part of the card.

On either end of the card I used the scallop edge from the Pull Card Edges to create a decorative panel from red card and then added the coffee beans to this panel.

For the sentiment I used the Coffee & Tea Clear Stamp Set and used one of the ovals from the Stitched Ovals Die set also recently released from the Els van de Burgt Studio range of dies available from Elizabeth Craft Designs

For the front of my card I have again create a scalloped edge to the red card panel using the Scallop die from the Pull Card Edges die set. I added coffee beans to the lower right hand corner of the card.

I added a sentiment from the Just A Note Clear Stamp set which I added to another oval from the Stitched Ovals Die set.

Celebrating You

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a Fun Fold Card, I have wanted to make this style of card for quite a few years but have always put it off until now.

I used Elizabeth Craft Designs Crystal Flower Set 1 and Crystal Flower Overlay Set 1 for the flower using Blue Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz for the solid part of the flower and the overlay I die cut using Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the front of the card and then cover the adhesive with Sky Silk Microfine Glitter. The flourishes were die cut using Green Iridescent Shimmer sheet using the Flourishes & Branches die set.

To create the hole in the back panel were the score line is I  used Elizabeth Craft Designs Fitted Circles die. I also used this for the teal circle on the front and the white stitched circle was die cut using the Stitched Circles die set.

This card measures 4 1/4 inches by 11 inches and then scored at 4 1/4 inches & 8 1/2 inches. The size of the circle cut out on the score line depends on the size of the layering circle you are using on the front of your card.

And finally a close up of the inside panel where the sentiment is stamped.

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. As the challenge hostess for the month, I continue to issue the challenges.

Being the third Saturday of the month it is time for our Sketch Challenge. I hope you have fun playing with this layout.

For my card today I created a Stand Up Card using a few of the new dies released by Elizabeth Craft Designs earlier this month. When my card is in the closed position it looks like the sketch.

For the all the square panels I have used the new Fitted Squares and Stitched Squares die sets. I also used the new Strawberries die set which are making me hungry for strawberries, just as well they are in season down here :). I used the new Banners & Alphabet 2 Lower Case die sets to create the "Berry" sentiment on the top right hand corner of my card. 

Here is another look at my card when it is opened in the "Stand Up" position. I used the Stand Up Helpers 2 die set to add the circle stand up pieces to either side of my card.

I also added the sentiment "Sweet" again using the Banners & Alphabet 2 Lower Case die sets.

Lighthouse Shaker

 

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a Shaker Card which features a few more of the new dies recently released by Elizabeth Craft Designs. For this card I used the new Lighthouse die set along with the Fitted & Stitched Oval Die sets and the Chains 1 die set!

To create the shaker card I used my new Fuse Tool which I received for Christmas. It took a little while for me to be able to successfully fuse the plastic pocket, but I think that was mainly because the pocket was too thick (although I am sure it was one someone said they had used), But once I found another pocket I had success!

Expect to see more shaker cards in 2016!

Apparent tomorrow (15th January) is Hat Day. So for our challenge this week we have to include a hat on our card creations.

I have a few new stamp sets that I got either before Christmas or for Christmas presents which I want to start using so when I went looking through my stash I found this cutie from Stamping Bella. That cute cat is wearing a hat and I always need birthday cards!

I decided to create a Side Step card using the Tattered Lace Side Stepper Card die I got earlier last year.

For the inside I stamped a sentiment and there is plenty of room to handwrite a greeting if I want to.

Hi everyone,

Last Friday I shared a Circle Stand Up Card using the new Elizabeth Craft Designs Fitted Frames 5 Lace Circles. You can find that card here. Anyway seeing I had a heap of circles left over in the various pink cardstock I had used for the card I decided to use the circles to create the background for this card.

Happy Birthday Cheeky Monkey

As many of you know, the biggest event of the year in the Crafting Industry has been happening this past weekend ... CHA Winter 2016. Of course Elizabeth Craft Designs are there showing off all their wonderful new products which have just been released.

To celebrate the release of Karen Burniston's new products  (dies, stamp sets, embossing folders and stencils), Karen asked each of her Design Team members to create a card with instructions to be featured in her first free Pop It Ups Cardmaking Ebook.

I created a Pop Up Card featuring the new Cake Pop Up Card set. This cake can be decorated to suit whatever occasion you want ... birthdays, weddings etc!
