Happy Canada Day!

pp-canada-day-wm

Hi everyone!

I have another Paper Pretties sneak peek card to share with you today. Yesterday I showed you Lady Liberty Sophia so today I have Canadian Sophia for you. I know Canada isn’t till July but of course July will be here before we know it … after all tomorrow will be the 1st May already. Wow this year is just flying by!

I kept my card fairly simple. I wanted it to look similar to the Canadian Flag. I did add just the tiny bit of black card above and below the white player of the main image just to add a bit of interest to the card. The red side panels have both been embossed using a Sizzix texture plate.

Now I know that Canadians will love this set (well I hope so anyway) but I think even if you don’t live in Canada she will still be lots of fun … the flags could be easily cut off after you stamp out the image and the flag on the shirt could also be disguised … I am sure I will be using this stamp set a lot even though I live in Australia.

I will be back tomorrow with another sneak peek using a brand new set from a brand new artist. So don’t forget to check it out, you will also get the opportunity to blog hop with the other Prettie Girls to see what they have created too.

On Friday May 1st Paper Pretties will be having their monthly Stampin In Your Jammies party!! The party starts at 6pm CDT and will last until 9pm. We will be issuing a challenge every hour so be sure to come and play along!! Besides the challenges, chatter, and all around fun, we will also be releasing Hola Chica, TWO new Sophias, re-releasing Rainy Day Friend in RUBBAH, and we will have a BRAND new set from a BRAND new artist!! Sneak peeks start on Wednesday April 29th!! Hope to see you there!!

It is time for another Cutie Pie contest!! You have until Thursday April 30th at 8pmCDT to get your entries uploaded to the Cutie Pie gallery at the Paper Pretties website. The winner will not only get to call themselves a Cutie Pie, but they will also receive all the new release stamps!! Good Luck!!

Goin’ Places!

Hi everyone. It is time for another MFT Stamps sketch challenge over on the MFT Stamps member forum. This week it is my friend Cindy Haffner's turn to supply the sketch.

This week the sketch is a tall skinny format. I decided to use my “Goin’ Places” stamp set to create my card. The blue stripe between the two different designer papers was punched using the embossed zigzag border punch.

Here's this week's sketch! Cindy and I would love you to play along. Don't forget to upload your card to the MFTSC79 gallery on SCS to be in the running to win a $5 gift certificate. We will select the winner next week when we upload the next sketch challenge.

Happy 4th July!

pp-4th-july-wm

Hi everyone …. ok so it is only April ... I do know that hehe!

Two weeks ago Danielle challenged the Prettie girls to make a non standard sized card. Anything but an A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") sized card! Well most of my cards I make are non standard and technically if I did make a standard size card it still wouldn’t be that size because the standard size card here in Australia is slightly different to that of the USA …. anyway have no fear I didn’t cheat hehe!

I figured a scrapling was a non standard size right so that is what I went with for my card today … I love being able to use those scraps that I have created when I have cut down a piece of card stock to create a card.

For my scrapling today I used one of the new stamp sets that Paper Pretties will be releasing this Friday 1st May. This set is called Lady Liberty …. isn’t she adorable . I told you the other day I would be using this red & blue star designer paper again and so I did … it is perfect for this set. I used the petit oval nestabilities to create my layers for the main image.

Don't forget to check out what the rest of the Prettie Girls created for this challenge:

Double Trouble!

sc226-bday-dog-wm

Hi everyone!

It has been a while since I used this stamp but when I saw today’s sketch challenge over on SCS, I knew I had to use it to make my card. It’s he the cutest!

The designer paper used here is all from the Pets Stack from DCWV. I also used a bone paper clip that I got some time back but hadn’t used as yet … hmmm maybe challenge of using old embellishments etc is rubbing off hehe!

I decided to use a birthday sentiment for this one as I have tons of cards but many don’t say Happy Birthday … sometimes it is nice to have a few that do.

Recipe:

Stamps: Double Trouble – Whipper Snapper; Sentiment – JustRite Stamps

Paper: White; Black; Taken With Teal – SU; The Pets Stack DP – DCWV

Other: Black Ink; Circle Punches; Scallop Circle Punch; Bone Paper Clip; Foam Tape; Copics

You Make My Heart Dance!

Happy Tuesday everyone, I have a Paper Pretties card to share with you all today. Earlier in the month at the Stampin' In Your Jammies party, Charmaine challenged everyone to create a card using a fun fold.

Well of course I knew straight away that I had to make another diamond fold card. These are such fun cards to create ... I found a video tutorial on how to create this card a few month back which you can find here.

I used Paper Pretties "Sophia Ballerina" to create my card. This set was released to the public earlier in the month.

Here is my card again this time when it is closed.

Talking of Paper Pretties Pajama party it is almost time for another one this coming Friday 1st May so why not join us in the Paper Pretties forum for some fun.

On Friday May 1st Paper Pretties will be having their monthly Stampin In Your Jammies party!! The party starts at 6pm CDT and will last until 9pm. Way To Go!

ccee-way-to-go-wm

Hi everyone, I hope you had a fantastic weekend!

It’s Monday which of course means it is time for another challenge with my CCEE Stamper friends. Today challenge is the last from our April challenge host Cindy Haffner. Cindy challenge us to create a card using a die, tool, embellishment we hadn’t used in a long time. Great challenge Cindy cause we do all tend to reach for the new stuff right! Even with this challenge I still reached for new but I didn’t have to have everything old as long as something was. And the things I did use that weren't old were things I had purchased earlier in the year and as yet hadn’t got around to using so that kind of fits right! *giggle*

First up I have been wanting to use some of this red, white & blue star designer paper I found in one of my DCWV stacks … this is from the adhesive stack … I am sure you will see it again in the near future. Anyway I figured this cute cheerleader from The Greeting Farm would work well with the DP so I selected her for my image. The embossing on the pacific point card behind my image was created by the Sizzix texture plate called “ABC Baby” …. it reminded me of cheerleaders saying “Give me an A” etc.

The oval nestie and the star punches are old but of course I use them a fair bit …. sheesh where is the old hehe … don’t fret it is there. It has been ages since I have used my cuttlebug lattice die that I HAD to have so I die cut two panels of the lattice and joined them together over the red panel and then also used the red ribbon which is also fairly old and I haven’t used that for a while to my knowledge either … I tend to be going for the wider ribbons these days mostly.

The layout used here is Jen’s of Iheart2stamps SFYTT sketch challenge from April 18th. I did tweak it the tiniest bit with my stars.

So do you have dies, tools or embellishments you haven’t used in a long time … want to play along too! Come join us over at our CCEE Stampers blog we would love to see what you have created.

Recipe:

Stamps: Cheerleader Anya – The Greeting Farm, Sentiment – Starving Artistamps

Paper: White; Real Red & Pacific Point – SU; Adhesive Stack DP – DCWV

Other: Black Ink; Petite Oval Nestabilities; Star Punches; Lattice Cuttlebug Die; ABC Baby Sizzix Texture Plate; Red Brads; Red Ribbon; Foam Tape; Copics

Birthday Organiser!

birthday-book-wm

Hi everyone, I hope you are all enjoying your weekend! I recently made this birthday organiser to send to a friend for her birthday.

I used my bind it all to create the book … the inside pages I downloaded earlier in the year when I saw Shelley Hopps birthday organiser she made that she posted to her blog Mocha Memories. Shelley’s organiser is completely different to mine, I didn’t need the address portion for my organise just the pages for each months birthdays.

The image on the front of my organiser is a digital stamp I also purchased and downloaded earlier in the year. I think it is a Pink Petticoat digital stamp, although when I went looking for this image when I thought I had lost it due to my computers hard drive crashing I couldn’t find it. If someone knows whether this is from Pink Petticoat or another company I would appreciate knowing so I can edit my post and give proper credit.

birthday book inside wm

Here is the inside of my birthday organiser …. the presents were stamped on each of the pages. One of these days I need to make one of these for me …. it would be so helpful, I printed off extra pages so I could make one but I need to go designer paper shopping so I have 2 sheets of the same paper for the cover.

Recipe:

Stamps: Chloe with cupcake – Pink Petticoat; Present – StampArt (Aust)

Paper: White; DP – DCWV

Other: Black Ink; Bind It All; Rectangle Nestabilities; Foam Tape; Copics

Knit Happens!

Hi everyone!

It's time for another OCC challenge over on the Our Creative Corner blog. This time round Silke gave us a color challenge ... we were to use our favourite color combo. Lately for me my favourite color combo would be a toss up between either pink & brown or blue & brown. Being that blue is my favourite color I opted for blue & brown for my card for this challenge.

The knitting basket used here is from the Granny Hanny set that was released by Hanna Stamps earlier this month. The sentiment I created using the JustRite Stampers alphabet set.

I used Jen's (Iheart2stamp) SFYTT sketch challenge that she posted on 11th April. This is a fun sketch and I can see me using this again in the future, it is perfect for those smallish stamps we all have.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the OCC Designers cards over on the OCC Blog.

Happy Moose Day!

Hi all!

My card today uses that cute little train Riley that was released earlier in the month by Hanna Stamps.

I also used my Martha Stewart train border punch to create the black train border along the top and bottom of this card.

As you can see Prissy (this is the name I have decided to call this girl hehe) is at it again, she is all dressed up to go out but she just heard about a stamp sale going on in a local stamp store so of course she had to check it out before she goes on to her party .... now is that addicted or what hehe!

Prettie Wednesday - Need a Cuddle

Hi again everyone!
I am back again tonight with another card to share with you. Two weeks ago Jana Weaver challenged the Prettie Girls to make a card using a new technique you've never tried before.

I decided to go through all my Technique Junkie newsletters to find my technique and found this one called "Spiral Strip" in the October 2008 issue.

When I saw the sketch challenge for the Weekend Sketch challenge on 10th April I thought that would work well with this technique.

I used the "Cuddle Me" stamp set available from Paper Pretties for my card today. I didn't have dark blue ribbon so I used white ribbon that I colored first using my copic markers.

Don't forget to check out the other Design Teams blogs to see there creations this week.

Celebrate MFT Day!

mft-flopsey-flowersx-wm

Hello everyone

Did you know that the 20th of the Month is “Celebrate MFT Day” ….. we of course today is the 20th April so here is my MFT card to help celebrate. Most of the Design Team are celebrating with MFT’s Flopsey stamps … I used Flopsey’s Flowers for my card today.

I wasn’t sure for a while today if I would be able to take my photo of my card so I could share it with you all. I turned my camera on and it said “Frame no. Full” and wouldn’t let me take a photo – yikes! Apparently I have taken that many photos since I had this camera that it had reached the end of the frames formatted on my camera … something like 9999 or whatever. So thankful for the internet as I was able to go to my camera’s web site and find the problem and fix it so now I am all set to take another 9999 photos *giggle*

Owl The Best!

OCC-Owl-the-Best-wm

Hi everyone!

It is time for another OCC Challenge over on the Our Creative Corner blog. This week Silke challenged the Occ girls to create a card using recycled items to celebrate Earth Day which is on 22nd April.

I had to think about this challenge for sometime and actually kept putting it off and made cards that are on my “To Do” list that were after this particular challenge because I just couldn’t think what to do. Then the technique challenge was posted to SCS on Monday night (well probably Monday morning for you guys who live in the Northern Hemisphere) …. anyway the challenge this week was “Metal Stamping” … using old soda cans for the metal. A light bulb moment … I have soda cans so maybe I could use that … that would be recycling something right!

Of course the next decision was what to actually do …. I thought using a die would be a good place to start so I looked through my pile of sizzix dies which I haven’t used for ages and decided on this tree …. of course it needed an owl so I found this cute Hero Arts one that a friend gave me recently.

After cutting up the coke can I cut out my tree using my die cutting machine and then I used a variety of brown copic markers and airbrushed the color onto my tree. The owl was stamped using black pigment ink and embossed. I had planned on airbrushing the owl too but in the end I left it as is because I didn’t want the owl to look to close to the color of the tree. The sky and grass on the card my tree is mounted on was also airbrushed … masking the moon before airbrushing.

occ-coke-tree-wm

Here is my tree ….. the first one is the tree all finished after airbrushing and the second you can see how the tree was cut from the coke can.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the OCC Designers cards over on the OCC Blog.
