Hi Crafty Friends,
It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Lois Bak, our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.
Apparently Tomorrow (10th September) is Swap Ideas Day. For today’s challenge, find a card you have seen using a new technique to you, or a new color combination, or anything you’ve never done before and make a card. Be sure to credit the person whose idea you have used.
Pinwheel Tower Cards have become very popular in the past few months, I had pretty much ignored them. But I recently made a Pinwheel Tower Card for a challenge. While I was searching for instructions etc, I discovered Sam Calcott's from Mixed Up Crafts Hexagonal Tower Pinwheel Card which uses border dies from her Terrific Towers die set. You can see her card with instructions here.
As I own those dies I decided to create a similar card, using different borders included in the die set. The dies are from the Made To Surprise 5" x 7" Portrait Excellent Edges die set. I used partial die cutting to die cut the balloon border on each of the 6 panels. I then used the individual balloon dies also included in the die set to die cut the balloons in rainbow colors.
I added the sentiment by stamping the "Awesome" from the Made To Surprise A5 Sentiments #2 stamp set onto each panel using Catherine Pooler Designs Orange Peel ink. The "Have An" & "Birthday" are from Honey Bee Stamps Happiness Stamp set.
I also added a thin strip of card in rainbow colors, along the right edge of each panel.
The card folds flat and will fit in an envelope that measures 6 inches x 7 1/2 inches.
Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

That's pretty cool, Frances! I've not seen the Hexagon Tower Pinwheel Card before. And I love all the balloons!
This is so cool! I'm still playing with the other Tower Pinwheel card - but may have to try this one now. Love it!
Oh! Your hexagonal pinwheel card looks it's as fun to make as is to receive! Think I might have to give this a try!
