Hi Crafty Friends,
Welcome to our January Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.
Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.
Our challenge theme this month is ... "RUBBER BAND POP-UPS" - use any of the pop-up dies that require a rubber band for a card or project of any theme. (Ball dies, Surprise Cube, Bam Box)
Here is a quick video to see my card in action.
As you can see by the photo above, I decided to create a pop-up card using the Surprise Cube Pop-up die set for the pop up. I created three of the surprise cubes and decorated each of the cubes using charms from the Dolled Up Charms die set.
I created a top folding card that measures 5 3/4 inches x 5 1/2 inches, adding a 1/4 inch gusset in the middle. I adhered the surprise cubes to the base of my card, the two bottom cubes fold towards the back while the top cube folds to the front.
For the decorative flap, I used the Long Flap and Closure die set, adding two thin magnets in between the layers to allow for closure.
For the sentiment at the back panel of the card I used the Happy Birthday and Happy Birthday Shadow die sets.
I kept the front of the card fairly simple seeing the focus is on the inside of the card. I used the Ovals - Crosshatch die set for my oval layers. I then added the purse from the Purse Pop-up die set and some more of the charms from the Dolled Up die set adding them to the oval.
I then added the "Love You" sentiment using the sentiment from the Pop 'n Swap die set.

Fun way to use the Surprise Cubes
I love this card using the surprise cubes, and will probably copy it for a B'day card for my Granddaughter's birthday in February.
Could this be any cuter! I LOVE the ALL GIRLY look! What a fun pop up! Those cubes are awesome!
Such a cute card. I love the bright colors and of course the new Surprise Cubes. I love how you showed the side view of the card in the video. That really helps me visualize how it work for me. Great creation.
So pretty and girly.
This is such an adorable card. I love this pop up with the stacked cubes.
Love the fun colors and how you used those the new cubes.
