Sending Oceans of Love

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Joanne Grzelak our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenge.

Joanne tells us .... July, for those in the Northern Hemisphere, is one of our warmest months.  When I think of hot days, I think of the beach.  Let’s create cards that honor beaches in some way. 

For my card today I decided to play with the Adirondack Chair Pop Up Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs to create my beach themed card. 

I decorated my card with the Palm Trees from the Palm Tree & Pail die set and the sun is from the Oval Pull Card die set.

On the bottom of the card I added two girls playing with a sandcastle which is a die I purchased earlier in the year with the view of using it with the adirondack chair. The colouring isn't perfect, but I think it still works.

Here is a side view of my card so you can see the pop up part of the card a little easier.

For the front of the card I created some sand and waves using the Beach Edges die set and added another Palm Tree. I also added some seagulls and a sentiment.

This bug's for you

Hi everyone,

My card today is for a challenge I do each month with a couple of friends of mine. Each month we get together and go to our favorite Papercraft store which unfortunately  we won't be doing anymore as the shop has closed it's door and is now online only. :(

But no matter we will still be getting together and doing our challenges and will find something else to keep us busy.

Last month the girls were busy buying lots of the new dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs as all the new dies had just arrived in the store and bonus it was on special. So our challenge for this month was to use anything from the recent ECD release from any of the lines.

I decided to play with my new Ladybugs dies from the Joset Designs range and used the Oval Landscape Accordion, Gift Card Accordion and Wavy Trellis Frames designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs for the base of my card.

Here is a look at my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Happy Birthday

Today I am sharing a birthday card I created using Penny Black's Love Sign stamp. I used my Scan N Cut to cut out the image, love that thing!!!!

For the inside of the card I kept to basically the same layout as the front of my card and added a sentiment.

It's a Boy

Hi everyone,

I have another Corner Fold Card that I created some years ago and haven't blogged before. This one as you can see is a baby card.

Using the template below as a guide I cut along the solid lines, scored along the dotted lines and then folded the top right hand corner of the card so it was level with the bottom left hand corner. I then added the bottoms long the left and bottom border of the card.

Hope Your Birthday is Super!

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I shared a Super Hero card which would be suitable for a male/boy, today I am sharing a girly Super Hero version.

This time around I used the Katie Label Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. This is my favorite of all the Pivot Cards but for some reason I haven't played with it for a while, so I was glad to be able to play with it for this card.

I used Super Twila to decorate my card and along the bottom edge of the designer paper I added a Skyline. 

I love the Frantic Stamper Inc. Pow, Zap, Bam die set this makes it super easy to decorate the card. I also added a sentiment from a Penny Black stamp set which had just the right sentiment for this card.

I really love how this card turned out :)

And finally here is a look at my card from the back! It doesn't matter how you pick this card up, you are going to see something of interest.

Zap, Pow, Bam!

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Joanne our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Being the third Saturday of the month it is time for our sketch challenge. I hope you have fun playing with this layout.

For my card today I created a Pull Card using the Oval Pull Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

My youngest daughter is a Super Hero fan ... especially for those from DC Comics. So when I saw that Frantic Stamper Inc. were selling Super Hero dies and stamp sets, I of course had to purchase a few of them ... they will be great for cards I make for her and also for my Grandchildren who also love Super Heroes.

I also finally got around to using this cute Super Henry from CC Designs which I have had for a while, but needed something else for my card. Now I have that something else :)

When you "pull" open my card it reveals more of the Super Hero action words as well as the "S" logo which is attached to the card using the spinner die from the Rectangle Pull Card die set.

Tomorrow is National Cow Appreciation Day.  Let’s create a card with a cow or two on it.  If you happen not to have cow images, then use another ‘farm’ animal.  Please add a fun sentiment OR make it as a get well card.

I decided to play with a couple of cow stamps that I have had in my stash for years. I created an Accordion Card using the Fancy Label Accordion Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Magical Birthday

Hi everyone,

Today I finally got to play with a stamp I purchased back in March that I just had to have .... Penny Black's ... a wizard. Being a Harry Potter fan I just had to get this as it would make a great birthday card.

I also used the Couture Creations Figure 8 Knot die on the left side of the card.

Keeping with the wizard/magical theme of this card I added the "poof" stamp from the Stampers Anonymous Crazy Thoughts stamp set.

Another Candle

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a card I created for a friend of mine who celebrated her birthday recently. My friend loves quilting and is also a card maker and as I was giving her the Cake Pop Up Card die for her birthday I decided to create my card by combining the two.

While at my final shop and my favorite Paper Crafts shop which has now gone online only :(,  I found this fun designer paper which I figured would be perfect for her card.

For the inside of the card I used the Cake Pop Up Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I also added the Paris Edges die set so that it appeared that the cake was sitting on the doily. To the top of the card I added a thought bubble with a birthday sentiment.

Here is another view of the inside of the card so you can see the pop up portion of the card a little better.

For the front of my card I used the circle edge from the Pull Card Edges to die cut my designer paper. I added a cute image from Penny Black and added the sentiment.

July 2016 Pop It Ups Designer Challenge #1

Hi everyone,

Welcome to our July Karen Burniston Designer Challenge. Karen is changing things up with our Designer Challenges starting this month. Instead of just one challenge a month we will offer Two challenges a month! Challenges will be posted on Karen's blog on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. The first challenge of the month will be a theme that Karen chooses for the team and the second challenge theme for the month will be chosen by a team member. For each challenge the team will make just one card and post it on their own personal blogs on Monday of Challenge week. This new format will provide the same number of amazingly inspiring cards per month, but spaced out onto two dates instead of all lumped together.

 This time round Karen has given us the theme ....  "Up!" - Let's get things airborne with high-flying cards featuring the sky.

Last month for our June Designer Challenge, Karen shared an amazing video tutorial on how to create a Cascading Tag Card using the chair from the Adirondack Pop Up Card and the Tag from the Tag Pivot Card. Since then I have been having so much fun creating cards using this fun technique, that I decided to make another for this challenge. If you missed Karen's video you can find it here.

To decorate my card this time around, I used Lucky the Rabbit and also the Kites die set. 

To create the cloudy background on the tags I used the Stage It Stencils Party Cloudy, sponging the clouds with blue ink. 

The sentiments used on the inside are from the What's Up? and Steampunk Clear Stamp sets.

Here is a view of my card taken from overhead so you can see the folds of the card.

I kept the front of my card simple as the focus is on the inside of the card. So I just added designer paper and added the A Way with Words Celebrate Sentiment.

And one last look at my card so you can see it partly open.

Ups and Downs

Apparently July 11th is Cheer Up the Lonely Day.  Let’s create cards of encouragement.

For my card today I created a Tri Shutter Card and decorated it using stamps from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. I thought the sentiment that went with the image, worked well for this week's challenge.

Flying By To Say

Hi everyone,

It's my turn to post a tutorial on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog. For my card today I have been playing with the Stitched Squares die set to create a background on my mostly monochromatic card.

Here is how I created my card:

1. Cut a piece of Dusky Sky Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 5 1/2 inches x 11 inches. Score along the 11 inch side at 5 1/2 inches and fold along the score line to create a top folded card.

• Counting from the small centre die in the Stitched Squares die set, take the fourth and sixth die. Place the smaller of these two dies so that it is centred into the larger square. Place removable tape so that secures the dies together to create a frame.
• Use this frame to die cut two frames from Dusky Sky Soft Finish Cardstock and two frames from Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock.

2. Use the second largest die from the Stitched Squares die set and die cut a scrap piece of cardstock (any color as this will be covered up).

• Use a pencil to mark the centre point on all sides of the square panel and then create a pencil line so we find the centre of the card.

• Place Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape onto all the frames. Place one side of the Dusky Sky frame so that it lines up with the centre point of the card. Trim off excess frame.
• Use the remaining off cut frame to adhere diagonally opposite on the card. (Refer to photo above for placement.
• Next take one of the Bonnie Blue frames and adhere to to the other side of the frames already in place. Trim off excess and use this piece to add to the space in the the lower left hand side. (Refer to photo above for placement.

• Continue adding the frames in place alternating the colors to you have added 3 frames in each quarter of the card.
• Add tape to the square still not covered and use the solid squares that were created when we die cut the frames to fill in the last pieces. (You should be able to use one solid square to do two of the small fill in squares).
• Using the largest square from the Dotted Scallop Squares die set, die cut from Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock.  Layer our decorated background panel onto the scalloped panel and adhere this to the folded card we created in step 1.

3. Counting from the small centre die in the Dotted Scallop Squares die set, die cut the the fifth die from Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock.

• Counting from the small centre die in the Stitched Squares die set, die cut the fourth die from White Soft Finish Cardstock. 
• Adhere the white panel to the scalloped blue panel.
• Turn this panel so it is a diamond shape. Using the "Flying by to Say" sentiment from the What's Up? Clear Stamp Set, stamp this so it is onto the centre right side of the white panel. (Refer to photo at top for placement).
• Adhere panel so it is centred on the front of the card using foam tape.

4. Using the Hot Air Balloons Die set die cut the following:

• (1) Large Hot Air Balloon from Whisper Blue Soft Finish Cardstock
• (1) Large Hot Air Balloon from Dusky Sky Soft Finish Cardstock (that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back)
• (1) Large Hot Air Balloon from Dark Goldenrod Soft Finish Cardstock (that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back)
• (1) Scallop Hot Air Balloon Decorator piece from Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock (that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back)

• Use the Whisper Blue Hot Air Balloon as the base. 
• Cut the basket and strings from the Dark Goldenrod Hot Air Balloon and adhere these over the base hot air balloon. 
• Trim out the second and fourth panels from the Dusky Sky Hot Air Balloon and adhere this over the base hot air balloon.
• Adhere the Bonnie Blue decorator piece on top of the hot air balloon.
• Attach the completed Hot Air Balloon to the left side of the white panel on the front of the card.

5. Use the remaining 2 squares that were creating when we created all the frames. Adhere them to the inside of the card as per photo above. (Tip: I used a left over piece of frame to place temporarily in the corner of the card to help with exact placement).

  

6. Counting from the small centre die in the Stitched Squares die set, die cut the third die from White Soft Finish Cardstock. 

Counting from the small centre die in the Dotted Scallop Squares die set, die cut the fourth die from Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock. 

Layer the white panel to the blue scallop panel and adhere to centre of card.

Using the Happy Birthday die, die cut from Dusky Sky Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape adhered on the back. Adhere sentiment to centre of white panel.
