Floral Happy Birthday To You

Hi everyone,

It's my turn to post a tutorial on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today for the Die Cut Design Team. I love the look of long narrow cards which I don't make very often, so I decided to create a Floral Happy Birthday to You long narrow card for my blog post today using the ModaScrap Happy Flowers die set.

Here's how I created my card:

Step 1 -

  • Cut a piece of Lavender Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 8 1/2 inches x 7 inches. Score along the 7 inch side at 3 1/2 inches to create a 8 1/2 inch x 3 1/2 inches top fold card.
  • Cut a piece of Misty Mauve Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 8 1/4 inches x 3 1/4 inches.
  • Cut a piece of designer paper that measures 8 inches x 3 inches.
  • Adhere all layers to base card.

Step 2 -
  • Using the third smallest square from the Stitched Squares die set, die cut three squares from White Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Using the third smallest square from the Dotted Scallop Squares die set, die cut three squares from Misty Mauve Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Die cut four large skinny flowers from the ModaScrap Happy Flowers die set using Dark Fuchsia Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Die cut two small skinny flowers from the ModaScrap Happy Flowers die set using Dark Fuchsia Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step 3 -
  • Layer the white stitched squares to the colored dotted scallop squares.
  • Stamp the birthday sentiment from the Occasions Clear Stamp set to the centre of one of the white squares.
  • Attach the square panels to the front of the card using foam tape.

Step 4 -
  • Shape flowers slightly by using the ball stylus from the All Metal Tool Kit.
  • Assemble the flowers by layering two large die cut flowers and one small die cut flower off setting each flower from the one below it.
  • Adhere the flowers to the squares on either side of the sentiment.
  • Finish off the flowers by adding a pearl to the centre of the flowers.

Step 5 - The inside of the card:
  • Cut a piece of Misty Mauve Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 8 1/4 inches x 3 1/4 inches.
  • Cut a piece of designer paper that measures 8 inches x 3 inches.
  • Layer panels and place on the inside of the card.
  • Using the smallest rectangle from the Stitched Rectangles die set from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Stamp the sentiment from the Occasions Clear Stamp set to the centre of this panel using black ink.
  • Using the second smallest rectangle from the Dotted Scallop Rectangles die set, die cut a rectangle from Misty Mauve Soft Finish cardstock.
  • Layer the rectangles together and adhere to the centre of the card.
Step 6 -
  • Die cut two small skinny flowers from the ModaScrap Happy Flowers die set using Dark Fuchsia Soft Finish Cardstock.

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.
