Humpty Dumpty

Hi Crafty Friends,

According to the Days of the Year website, today is World Book Day. I love to browse this site on occasions to see all the different fun and weird special days that happen during the year. Sometimes a special day, sparks an idea to use products I own to create a card, something I may not have made normally.

Back in January, Sam Calcott of Made To Surprise released her Book Wiper Collection which included a die to create fun pop-up book cards as well as an add on set to include one or two wiper pieces coming from either above or below the book. As soon as I saw her collection, I knew I had to order it. Unfortunately international mail was put on hold in the UK for about 2 weeks or so due to a Cyber attack, so of course I had to wait a bit longer than normal for my order to arrive. It finally arrived last week, so I wasted no time in playing with it.

The collection does come with stamps and dies in various themes to decorate the book, however for my first book card I decided to pull out an older nursery rhyme themed stamp set to decorate my card. I thought Humpty Dumpty would be perfect for this book card and it is one of my favourite nursery rhyme or fairy tale related stamps sets.

As I was using the Humpty Dumpty theme for this card, I decided to keep my card simple without any wiper additions ... I will play with them next time.

My card measures 5 7/8 inches square when closed, as I used A4 cardstock rather than 12 x 12. This style of card can close flat, however I ended up adding foam tape in the centre of each of the layers to help support the layers so it is a little bulky near the right hand edge when closed.

I also added a few flowers using the Pop-up New Homes Additions die set which was one of the sets from the collection.

 Here is a view of my card taking at an angle, so you can see how the book pops up. As I mentioned before, if you don't add foam tape to the layers it will fold flat.

For the front of the card, I pulled out another old stamp ... the book is from Darcie's Stamps. I stamped the book in white and teal cardstock and layered it together. I then stamped Humpty Dumpty on the white panel in the centre.

I added another flower and a few circle embellishments to the top and bottom of the card.

Mother Goose

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is Liz Williams.

In honor of Library Lovers month, use a reading or book theme for your card this week. 

Most kids at one time or another have some sort of copy of Mother Goose's Nursery Rhymes so I went with that for my card today.

I create a Z Fold Card that also included a Pivot Card using the Pop It Ups Tag Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Recently when I was looking for something I came across an old card I had created about 10 to 15 years ago which used the Darcie Rubber Stamps Book stamp. Back then I had also made it a Nursery Rhyme theme, but at that stage I didn't really have any Nursery Rhyme themed stamp sets like I do now so made do with what I had. For my card today I kind of CASEd my card substituting new stamp sets I had purchased that were a Nursery Rhyme theme.

Here is a look at my card when it is closed. For the front cover I used Mother Goose from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. I also used some older stamps to create the grass and sky. The title of the book was computer generated.

As you can see my book opens to reveal two more Nursery Rhymes. Mary, Mary Quite Contrary and Little Miss Muffet. Both of these stamp sets are also from Kraftin Kimmie Stamps. I placed tiny magnets at the back of the book and between the front panel so that the book would stay closed until you wanted to open it.

Humpty Dumpty

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. As the challenge hostess for the month, I continue to issue the challenges.

Being the third Saturday of the month it is time for our Sketch Challenge. I hope you have fun playing with this layout.

A few months ago I purchased this Humpty Dumpty die .... I am a bit of a sucker when it comes to anything Humpty Dumpty related for some reason. So I decided to use this for my card today. The sentiment is from an old Humpty Dumpty stamp set I have. I masked the other lines of the sentiment so I only stamped out the first line of the nursery rhyme.

I paper pieced all the pieces of the die back into the die cut so I had solid colors rather than open colors, it took a while but I prefer that look for this die.

As you can see I created a Pop Up Card using the Lots of Pops die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. As Humpty has had his fall, I cut apart his head from the body.

I used the spinner die from the Rectangle Pull Card die set to attach Humpty's head to the wall, so that that was also popped up. You can see the spinner in the photo above.

I have also added clouds to the back panel which are from the Rainbow Sky die set designed by Joset Designs for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

One last photo of my card, which is a close up so you can see the sentiment, on the bottom part of the card. I used the labels from the Katie Label Pivot Card die set to layer my sentiment.

Nursery Rhyme Block Card

Hi everyone,

I recently posted to my blog a block card I created which you can find here. Today I have another one I created, but this time I have just used designer papers.

This one uses some of Graphic 45’s Nursery Rhyme Designer Paper. This was a little harder than I thought as I wanted to use certain pieces of the designer paper which wasn’t always possible especially with only having the one sheet of DP.

On the front of this card I am mainly featuring Humpty Dumpty.



Here is the back of my card. You might be able to recognise some of the images from the nursery rhyme ‘Hey Diddle Diddle”.



As you can see by the photo above this card folds flat so it can be placed in a standard envelope to be mailed.

Humpty Dumpty

Hi everyone,

Today I have been playing with a new (to me) type of construction card. This one is called a Pop Up Book Card. Above is the front of my card …. I used an older stamp set called Once Upon A Wall from Clear Dollar Stamps.



Here is the inside of my card … again the stamps are from the Once Upon A Wall stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps. To create my card I used a template I found on Bente’s Blog, her template is in centimetres and is a little smaller than another template I found which is in inches but it ended up being 6 x 6 which was pretty large.

Fairy Tale Riley Release Day 2

Hi everyone,

It is day 2 of our Riley sneak peeks in readiness of the of the new Riley stamps that will be available from Riley and Company this coming Thursday 26th June. This time round we have 16 Fairy Tale/ Nursery Rhyme themed Riley’s and 1 sentiment set being released.

For my first card I have used Little Bo Sophie to create a Squash card, it has been a while since I have made one of these type of cards.

Here you can see my card again this time it is starting to open.

Here is my card fully open. The sentiment used on the inside is another from the new Life is a Fairy Tale word set.

Hi all!

It is Thursday which means it is time for another challenge over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog.  This week we are continuing our May themed challenges celebrating Mothers & Babies.

This week we have an Inspiration challenge - create a card/project using a nursery rhyme as your inspiration. E.G. for Little Boy Blue you might have a boy on your card and use the color blue somewhere. You don't have to use a nursery rhymed themed stamp, although of course if you have one why not use it .

Well it is no surprise as to what nursery rhyme I selected to use hehe … yes “Humpty Dumpty”. I love collecting nursery rhyme themed stamps and just couldn’t help myself when these were released by Clear Dollar Stamps a few months ago!

I wanted to incorporate both Humpty's before and after his fall into my card so decided to create a tri shutter card.
