Merry Christmas

Hi everyone,

It's my turn to post a Pop It Ups Wednesday tutorial on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today. This time round I am playing with a few of Karen Burniston's new dies being released this month to create a Christmas Card. With only 137 days till Christmas I figured it was time I started making some cards to add to my Christmas stash.

Here's how I created my card:

1. Cut a piece of red cardstock so it measures 11 inches x 5 1/2 inches. Score along the 11 inch side at 5 1/2 inches to create a side folding card.

• Place the main pop up die from the Anita Frames Pop Up die set so that the centre nubs of the die are lined up with the centre fold of the card. Run through die cutting machine. 
• Refer to Karen Burniston's Anita Frames video on how to assemble the Anita Frames Pop Up card for easier assembly.

2.  Cut two pieces of striped designer paper that measures 2 1/2 inches x 5 1/2 inches. Also cut two strips of green cardstock that measure 1 inch x 5 1/2 inches. Adhere the edge of the designer paper onto the green cardstock strip so that approximately 1/8 inch shows. Attach designer paper to either side of card as per photo above.

• Use the decorative die from the Anita Frames Pop Up die set and die cut 4 decorative pieces to attach to the centre panel of the pop up.
• Using black ink, stamp the sentiments "Merry Christmas" and "May your Season be ever so Merry" onto White Soft Finish Cardstock. Use the middle sized label from the Anita Frames Pop Up die set to die cut sentiments. Color the word "Season" using red markers.
• Using green cardstock, die cut two labels using the largest sized label from the Anita Frames Pop Up die set. 
• Layer sentiment panel to green cardstock label and attach to the label area on the centre pop up panel.

3. Die cut the following from the Holiday Charms die set (one of each will be set aside for the front of the card) -

• (3) Christmas Trees from green cardstock
• (3) Presents from Designer Paper
• (3) Bows from green cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.

• Sponge around edges of each of the green pieces using green ink. Color trunks of trees using a brown marker.
• Adhere the bow to the present.
• Attach Charms to either side of the card using foam tape, using photo above as a guide.
• Use Gold Border Assorted Peel Off Stickers so that it runs from the top loop of each of the charms to the top of the card.
• Decorate the Christmas Trees using Red/Gold Glitter Dot Peel Off Stickers

The Front of the Card:

4. Cut a second piece of red card that measures 11 inches x 5 1/2 inches. Score along the 11 inch side at 5 1/2 inches so you have a side folding card.

• Apply Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the back of the inside card panel we created above, being careful not to apply adhesive near the areas that pop up.
• Attach the inside pop up to the outer red card.

5. Cut another piece of striped designer paper that measures 2 1/2 inches x 5 1/2 inches. Also cut a strip of green cardstock that measure 1 inch x 5 1/2 inches. Adhere the edge of the designer paper onto the green cardstock strip so that approximately 1/8 inch shows. Attach designer paper to either side of card as per photo above.

• Using the remaining Christmas Tree and Present Charms that we die cut in step 3 attach to card as per photo above.
• Use Gold Border Assorted Peel Off Stickers so that it runs from the top loop of each of the charms to the top of the card.
• Decorate the Christmas Trees using Red/Gold Glitter Dot Peel Off Stickers

6. Using the "Merry Christmas" sentiment from the Merry Christmas Pop Up Card die set, die cut sentiment from green cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.

• Adhere sentiment to the lower left hand side of the card as per photo above.

Unicorns & Rainbows

Hi everyone,

My Grandson loves My Little Pony, so when I saw that Kraftin' Kimme Stamps were releasing this cute Unicorns & Rainbows stamp set which looked similar to the My Little Ponies I had to order the set .... I know he will be excited when he sees I have stamps of them! 

And of course I had to play with them  right away!

I decided to create another Twist Circle Pop Up Card using the new Twisted Circle Pop Up die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs which is being released this month. 

I used white card for the card base and then used my Copic markers and Copic airbrush to apply color to the card, I also added Copic Blender Solution over the inked card to get a mottled effect.

Along the base of my card I used the cloud from Susan's Garden Clouds & Grass Die set. I also added Joset Designs Rainbow from the Rainbow Sky die set on the left hand side of my card.

I added one of the sentiments from the Unicorns & Rainbows stamp set and added four of the unicorns. The Unicorn on the rainbow is attached using a mini action wobble from Art Impressions to add extra movement.

For the front of my card I replicated the inside of the card using the left over rainbow which I added to the right hand side of the card.

I also added another of the sentiments from the stamp set.

Here is a photo of my card when it is half open so you can see how the Twist Circle works, the circle twists from the upright position and faces right.

August 2016 Pop It Ups Designer Challenge #1

Hi everyone,

Welcome to our first Pop It Ups Designer Challenge for August. This time round Karen has given us the challenge .....

Flower or Flour" - Make a card with flowers OR make a card with a baking/cooking theme - you decide!

As you can see, I decided to play with one of Karen's new die sets that are being released by Elizabeth Craft Designs in August. 

This card uses the Flower Pot Pop Stand Card die set which features a flower pot that can be used as I have done above as a pop stand card or as a stand alone Pop Up Box type card whichever you prefer. The die set also comes with 3 different sized flowers and and a leaf die which is what I used to fill my flower pot.

I have also used one of Karen's Stage It Stencil Stripes to create a plaid effect to decorate the layers of the flower pot and the corner pieces on the card.

The sentiment is from the new Occasions Clear Stamp Set and layered using dies from the Anita Frames Pop Up Card die set.

Here you can see my card partly open so that you can see how the flower pot folds up when the card is closed.

For the front of my card I added a birthday sentiment also from the new Occasions Clear Stamp Set  and layered using dies from the Anita Frames Pop Up Card die set and the Labels & Circles die set.

I added the butterfly (also included in the Flower Pot Pop Stand Card die set) to the top of the labels .

I also used one of the borders from the Bead Strings 2 along the left side of the card.

Spooky Halloween Greetings

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a "Flying Easel" Card I created using a few of the new Pop It Ups dies designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs which are being released in August. Karen Burniston created a tutorial on this technique a number of years ago using her Pop N Cuts dies, so it was fun to be able to play with this technique again using her new dies. I am looking forward to making a few more of these in the future.

For this card I used the new Labels & Circle die set for the easel part of the card. To decorate the card I used the Halloween Scene die set and Midnight the Bat.

Here is another look at my card this time on it's side so you can see the easel part of the card. 

The sentiment is from the Halloween Sentiments Clear Stamp set and was die cut using one of the frames from the Anita Frames Pop Up Card die set.

Here is a look at the front of the card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

The bats on the front of the card were created using the new Stage It Stencil - Bats.

You Are Absolutely Amazing

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month it is  time to introduce a new challenge hostess which is Jessie Rone.

It’s Olympics time, so either make a card using the Olympics colors, or a sports theme. 

As you can see, I decided to go with the sports theme for this challenge using

 a few more of the new dies designed by designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs which is being released in August.

I used the new Anita Frames Pop Up, along with the Labels & Circles die set and the Sports Charms. I am loving all the new dies that Karen has created for us to use :)

For the front of my card I used one of the sentiments from the new Occasions Clear Stamp set and the labels from the Anita Frames Pop Up and Labels & Circles die set.

Hi everyone,

It's my turn to post a tutorial on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today. For my card today, I have created a "Gap Card" using the Candles die set. It is called a "Gap Card" as there is a gap or opening between the top and bottom of the card.

Here's how I created my card:

1. Cut a piece of Rosebud Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 5 1/2 inches x 7 3/4 inches. Score along the 7 3/4 inch side at 5 1/2 inches.

• Cut another piece of Rosebud Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 2 1/4 inches x 5 1/2 inches.
• Cut two pieces of Orange Soft Finish Cardstock that measure 2 inches x 5 1/4 inches.
• Cut two pieces of diagonal designer paper that measures 1 3/4 inches x 5 inches.

• Layer the diagonal pieces of card onto the Orange Soft Finish Card and then onto each of the Rosebud Soft Finish Card panels.
• Use repositional/removeable tape to temporarily adhere the bottom panel so it is level with bottom and sides of the inside of the card. (this will make creating the 'gap' easier.

2. Using the Candles die, die cut the following:

• (10) Solid Candles from White Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front.
• (5) Overlay Candles from White Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front. (I used one of each of the 4 overlays and then 1 a second time)

• Remove the protective backing from the Overlay Candles (keep the protective backing on the flame part for now) and cover each candle with one of the following colors of Silk Microfine Glitter - Spring Peridot; True Red; Orange; Sky and Peony Pink. Brush off the excess glitter and polish the glitter into the adhesive using your finger.
• Next remove the protective backing from the flame of the overlay candle and dip into the Yellow Silk Microfine Glitter, brush off excess glitter from candle and polish the glitter into the adhesive using your finger.
• Remove the protective backing from the solid candles and place the overlay candle onto the solid candle being careful not to touch the adhesive. Place a scrap of protective backing over the candles and press down to ensure that the overlay is attached to the solid candle. Cover the remaining adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. Brush off excess and polish the glitter into the adhesive using your finger.

3. Place a scrap of protective backing from adhesive tape onto the inside part of the card between the 'gap' to make sure that the candles do not adhere to the inside when adhering them to the front of the card.

• Apply a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the back of each candle and flame. Adhere the two outer candles and the centre candle first and then adhere the two middle candles to the front of the card to make positioning of the candles even.

4. Die cut the A Way with Words Best Wishes sentiment from Ladybug Red Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back. 

• Adhere the word "Best" to the centre of the top panel of the card and the word "Wishes" to the centre of the bottom panel of the card. (I die cut two of each sentiment and layered them together on the card so that the sentiment stood out a little better on the card, but this is optional).

5. Turn the card over so you can see the back of the card, and using the remaining solid candles over the candles being careful to line them up. This will help strengthen the opening of the card.

The Inside of the Card:

6. Using the A Way with Words Happy Birthday 2 die set, die cut from Ladybug Red Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back. Adhere the words to the top and bottom of the card so that they cannot be seen through the "gap" of the card.

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month it is  time to introduce our new challenge hostess for the month which is Liz Williams.

Sister’s Day! As many of you know, or perhaps you don’t, Lynn and Liz are sisters. When we were asked to join the CCEE team together, we both thought it would be fun to be doing this together. So, for your sister card, find an image of a pair or group of ladies or girls who just might be sisters doing things that sisters like to do. 

For my card today I have created another Twist Circle Pop Up using the new Twisted Circle Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I am loving this new die set which is being released in August.

To decorate my card I used a stamp set from Art Impressions.

Here is look at my card when it is half closed, you can see how the circle is turning so that the girls heads will be at the side of the card rather than the top of the card. The circle on the card twists as the card opens and closes.

For the front of the card I added the "Hi" sentiment which is also included in the die set along with all the various circle layers I included on this card.

Apparently tomorrow is International Owl Awareness Day, so seeing I love owls I figured I should make a card to celebrate!

I used Poppy the Owl along with the new Twisted Circle Card and Pull Card Edges designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. 

The Twist Circle Pop Up is another of the new Pop It Up dies which are being released in August. 

Here is another view of my card, this time showing it as the card is half closed, the circle. This is such a fun card.

I kept the front of my card simple as the inside is the focus of the card.

Happy Halloween

I am excited to share my card today which uses some of the dies and stamps from the Pop It Ups Collection designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs which are being release in August. Karen has created some really fun dies, stamps and stencils for us to create with in this great new collection of Pop It Ups.

For the front of the card I have used the Props 9 die set that include the hat, shoes and broom. I have assembled on my card so it looks like the witch may have crashed into the ground. 

Behind the witch I have added the graveyard scene from the Halloween Scene die set. This die set comes with 5 fun dies to decorate your Halloween cards which includes the bat at the top of my card.

I added the Halloween sentiment from the Halloween Clear Stamp set which is layered onto one of the labels from the Labels and Circles die set.

For the inside of my card I added the Iron Fence Pop Up die to the right hand side of my card, this is attached in such a way that the fence appears to pop up when the card is opened. On the left hand side of my card I attached another fence but this time flat to complete the Halloween scene. While I have used this fence for a Halloween card, it can also be used in any garden scene you want to create, so don't just think Halloween.

I also added a couple more bats on the left hand side, and covered two of the spiders that were on the designer paper with the spider included in the Halloween Scene die set. The sentiment is another from the Halloween Clear Stamp set.

Merry & Joy

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a card I made at a recent club I attend each month with a group of friends. Being that our club day was in July, my friend Trish Myers decided we should have a Christmas in July theme and  was also responsible for our card project and this is the card we all created.

All products used on this card are from Stampin' Up. The "Merry" is die cut into the white card and then the red glitter "Merry" is inlaid into the opening.

I guess I have finally made my first Christmas card for 2016.
