Celebrate Eight Explosion Pop-up

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Raquel Mason our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenge.

For our challenge this week we were to make a birthday card and put numbers on it. For example -the recipients age, use background paper with numbers on it, or even a numbered candle die cut if you have one.

For my card today I made a birthday card using Karen Burniston's new Explosion Pop-up die set. In the centre of the pop-up panel I added an elephant from Whimsy Stamps.

I added balloons to the smaller pop-up step panel which is behind the elephant. The balloons are also included in the Explosion Pop-up die set.

To decorate the card I added trims using the Cake Trims die set, the Celebrate and number "8" to the card.

As the action is all on the inside, I kept the front fairly simple. Adding the papers I used on the inside. I also used the Crosshatch Ovals to layer the Happy Birthday Sentiment and added a few more balloons.

Sending You Birthday Wishes

Like many others, when the  Alcohol Lift Ink and reinker became available I had to purchase it. It's been a while sitting here, but I finally got around to playing with it.

When I first started playing, I accidentally pulled out my alcohol ink cardstock rather than Yupo paper so was starting to think it wasn't going to work. Fortunately when I started tidying up, I realised my mistake so started playing again and YES!!! this time it worked.

For my card above I used Pool, Flamingo and Aquamarine alcohol inks to color my Yupo paper. Once the paper was dry, I pulled out my Simon Says Stamp Jazz Dance Stencil and used the Alcohol Lift Ink Reinker through the stencil to create my background.

The base card looks more purple in the photo above but it is actually dark blue.

I die cut the panel using Elizabeth Craft Designs Dashing Squares die set.

To decorate my card I used Altenew's Mega You die and Mega Greetings 2 stamp set.

For the inside of the card I added a panel of the left over alcohol inked Yupo paper to the bottom of the card. For the sentiments I used Honey Bee Stamps Enjoy die set and coordinating stamp set.

Welcome Little One Z Fold Card

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Maryann Einam our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Our challenge this week is .....

Baby - Create a card using baby as your inspiration, example:  new baby, baby shower, grand baby, baby animals or even just a baby sized card. 

This challenge has come at a good time as I need to add to my stash of baby cards, my daughters keep using the ones I make for all their friends having babies. The last I heard from one daughter is that she knew about 5 friends having babies .... so one down!!!!!

I decided to make a Z Fold card using Suzanne Cannon's Welcome Little One Clear Stamp set along with the Little Ones & Flourished Night Sky die sets all available from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I added one of the corner dies from the Corners 1 die set to each of the corners except for the lower right hand corner where I added a pair of baby feet. The feet help keep the card closed.

Here is another look at my card when it is open, so you can see the middle fold of the card where I added a dangling star and baby boy sentiment.

Classic Christmas- some of the things/traditions which always come to mind when we talk Christmas are things like ….  Snowflakes; Ornaments; Christmas Trees; Toasting Marshmallows on an Open Fire or Mugs of Hot Chocolate to help keep you warm. For our challenge this month create a Christmas Card or Project using one or more of these items.

For my card today I decided to use the Snowflakes die set.

Here is how I created my card:

Step 1 - 

• Using the smallest snowflake in the Snowflakes die set, die cut six solid snowflakes that have Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front, and six detailed snowflakes from White Soft Finish Cardstock.
• Remove the protective backing from the adhesive on the solid snowflake and attach the snowflake overlay on top. Be careful not to touch the adhesive.
• Cover the remaining adhesive with True Red Silk Microfine Glitter. Polish the glitter into the adhesive using your finger to help bring out the maximum sparkle.

Step 2 - 

• Cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 4 inches x 5 1/4 inches.
• Adhere the snowflakes to the card so that some of the snowflakes are overhanging the edge of the card.

• When the adhesive is dry, trim off the any of the snowflakes that are overhanging so they are flush with the edge.
• Use the overhanging snowflake offcuts to fill in any other areas around the card.

Step 3 - 

• Cut a piece of Red Cardstock that measures 5 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches. Score along the long side at 4 1/4 inches to create a top folding card.
• Attach the decorated snowflake panel to the folded red card using fun foam or foam tape.

Step 4 - 

• Die cut a fishtail flag using the Stitched Fishtails Banners die set. Stamp the sentiment " Tis the Season" to the banner using VersaMark ink and white embossing powder.
• Adhere the sentiment to the top right hand corner of card.

Step 5 -

• Add Red/Gold Glitter Dot Peel Off Stickers to the centre of all the snowflakes.

Step 6 - The Inside of Card:

• Die cut a rectangle using the Dashing Rectangles die set from White Soft Finish Cardstock.
• Using the medium snowflake die from the Snowflakes die set, create a snowflake as per the instructions in step 1. Adhere to centre of card.
• Die cut a double ended banner using the Stitched Fishtail Banners die set from red cardstock. Stamp the sentiment to the centre of the banner using VersaMark Ink and white embossing powder. Adhere sentiment to centre of snowflake.
• Adhere panel to inside of card.

Beary Christmas Double Slider Surprise

Today I am sharing a Christmas card I created using a Mama Elephant stamp set and Lawn Fawn's Double Slider Surprise die set.

Here is a quick video to show my card in action.

To create the background for my card I used Tumbled Glass and Stormy Sky Distress Oxide inks. I then splattered watered down white acrylic paint over the background.

I die cut the snow area using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders die set, die cutting white cardstock that had Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front and then covering the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.

I added the bears and tree to the front of the card using foam tape.

For the inside side panels, I added trees to the far edge of each panel using the Birch Tree die set. I also added two sentiments to each panel.

Sending a Warm Cup of Kit-Tea

Today I am playing with another of the stamp sets I received from the My Monthly Hero August Card kit. I love this cute little kitty sitting in a tea cup.

I have created a Lever Card using Our Daily Bread Designs Lever Card die set.

I stamped the kitty/teacup onto white cardstock and then stamped the flowers from the stamp set to decorate the teacup.

I used the coordinating layering die set to die cut the layers of this card from patterned paper.

I added a couple of the sentiments including in the stamp set and also added some more of the flowers.

Hope Your Christmas Is ....

Today I am sharing a Christmas card I created using a few of the new Lawn Fawn products that were released last month.

I have been having so much fun with Lawn Fawn's original rectangle Reveal Wheel die set, that I had to add all the new Add-on dies and stamps that Lawn Fawn have added to go with this die set. 

For my card today I used the new Square Reveal Wheel die set along with the Christmas Reveal Wheel Sentiments, Oh What Fun, Say What and Winter Skies Clear Stamp set to create my scene.

Here is a look at the 4 different sentiments which are reveal when you turn the wheel of my card.

To create the sky background I used Tumbled Glass & Stormy Sky Distress Oxide inks over the background and then splattered white acrylic paint over the sky using a paint brush.

I used Lawn Fawn's Stitched Hillside Borders to create the snow die cutting the cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the front and then covering the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.

I layered the card onto a scalloped red square panel. I didn't have the color blue I wanted for the card base, so I used a white card and then colored around the edge using distress oxide ink to match the sky.

For the inside of the card I added a sentiment and some snowflakes.

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Raquel Mason our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenge.

Being the third Saturday of the month it's time for a sketch challenge.

I recently purchased Hero Arts August card kit which had a theme of coffee/tea and as I had just received my stamps/dies prior to making this card I was busting to use them. For my card today I mostly used some of the optional add on stamps that you could purchase. 

The cute image used on this card is from the Foam Animals stamp set. I stamped the foam animal, masked it and then stamped the coffee mug. I white embossed the heart flourish element which in one of the stamps included in the main stamp set. 

The background is the new bold print also offered for sale. 

As today is also International Dot Day, I wanted to included some dots/circles somewhere on my card. So I used the Altenew Feeling Dotty Stencil to add dots to the pink rectangle panel.

To finish off the card I added some Nuvo Drops.

For the inside of the card I repeated many of the elements I used on the front of the card ... the background, the feeling dotty stencil and another of the cute foam animals stamps.

I used the Katherine Label Pop-up die set to create the pop-up for the sentiment.

August My Monthly Hero Stamp/Die set - Hero Arts

Hoot's Up Enjoy Your Birthday

Today I have birthday card to share with you.

This card started with a piece of cardstock that I had previously used the Hero Arts Sunburst Bold Prints Background stamp and Distress Oxide inks. I had intended on using this for another card some time back, but ended up using something completely different but obviously had saved this piece. I found the background today when I was going through some of my stuff and decided to make use of it.

I knew I wanted to use Honey Bee Stamps Enjoy stamp & coordinating die set for the sentiment, so then it was just a matter of finding an image ... something that wouldn't completely hid the background. I discovered this cute Your Next Stamp owl I received for Christmas and had used as yet.

I die cut the panel using Simon Says Stamp Wonky Rectangles die before adhering it to a folded card.

As luck would have it, I must have also created this background using the same inks I used on the background on the front but without adding any background. So of course I used this for the inside adding a sentiment. The birthday sentiment is from Altenew and the "You are a Hoot!" is include in the Your Next Stamp Hoot's Up stamp set which the owl was from.
