Super Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. As challenge hostess for the month I continue to issue the challenges.

Being the third Saturday of the month, it's time for a sketch challenge. This time around I created a Slimline sketch.

For my card today I decided to go with a super heroes theme, so I chose the colors red, blue and yellow.

I used Whimsy Stamps Slimline Stars Background die for the background of my card and yellowed glittered stars. The stars are the wide strip that is shown in the sketch, I didn't have yellow glitter cardstock, so I used white cardstock and then blended on yellow inks over the glitter cardstock.

I used Hero Arts Infinity Nesting Squares to create each of the three diamonds. The super hero dogs are from MFT Stamps Super Dogs stamp set.

The sentiment in the middle diamond is from a Sunny Studio Stamps Super Hero stamp set. 

For the inside of the card, I created a pop-up card. I created another star background using the Whimsy Stamps Background die I used on the front of the card. 

I created the cityscape pop up using Kat Scrappiness' Slimline Layered Cityscape die set, which I popped up using a simple box pop-up in several places along the fold of the card. This allowed for the different heights of the cityscape die cut.

I then added two more Super dogs to my background scene.

The blue panel on the base of the card was die cut using Picket Fence Studios Slimline Nested Rectangles die set.

I added the "Birthday Wishes" which is from Mama Elephant's Big Birthday Wishes die set, I then added a few red stars around the sentiment.

Chocolate Makes Everything Better

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Liz Williams our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

Apparently today is Chocolate chip day. Who is not won over with a chocolate chip cookie in their life? So on your creation this week, represent this day any way you would like from chocolate chip cookies, to chocolate anything, or using brown as your main color focus.

Seeing Liz said we could create a card using anything chocolate related, I decided to pull out my Kat Scrappiness Layered Chocolate Bar stamp set I got a couple of years ago. The chocolate looks so real.

While I had the stamps and inks out I stamped up heaps of the chocolate bars, so many that I have enough for at least one or two more cards.

I cut a few bars of the chocolate into individual chocolate pieces and used these to create a pile of chocolate which I adhered to a piece of white cardstock and then cut around the edges of the chocolate pieces.

Chocolate is so yummy, so for my card I figured I would create a girl who is surrounded by chocolate and enjoying eating it. So I pulled out my Studio Light Missees stamps (check the supply list for the names of all the ones I used for this card). One of the stamp sets in the collection includes a mouth with the tongue out, which was perfect for her looking like she was enjoying the chocolate. You can see a piece of the chocolate bar being held in the girls hand. 

I adhered the girl to a Slimline card which was created using Picket Fence Studios Slim Line Die Cutting System.

To the top of the card I added a chocolate themed sentiment using a stamp set from The Stamps of Life. I then used Whimsy Stamps Comic Speech Bubbles die set to create a speech bubble above the girl.

For the inside of the card I created a pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop up die set.

I added a strip of the designer paper that I used on the front of the card to both of the edges on the inside. I then adhered the chocolate bards to the inside ... some of the chocolate is the whole chocolate bar, some I made larger by layering and others individual pieces.

I found an older Stampendous sentiment which I thought suited the girl and chocolate on the front, and being longer it was perfect for a Slimline card. I die cut the sentiment using an older MFT Stamps Label Die-namics set.

Let The Celebration Begin

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Maryann our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

Being the third Saturday of the month, it's time for a sketch challenge.

I decided to lengthen the sketch to create a Slimline Card.

I used Kat Scrappiness Wonky Stitched Slimline Nesting dies to create the background panel for my card. I also used one of the strips from Trinity Stamps Slimline Stitched Strips die set to add the strips according to the sketch. After adding the strips to the panel I then added pink glitter dot peel off stickers along the strips.

For the elongated oval I used an older Spellbinders die set. The cute image is from MFT Stamps Sweet Celebration stamp set.

To finish off the card I added a sentiment along the bottom of the card.

For the inside of the card I added a pop-up using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up die set. I added the same image that I used on the front on the pop up panel. 

I used Catherine Pooler Designs Best Friend Paper pad to add the patterned paper to the front of the card and also to the panels on either side of the inside of the card.

To finish off the card I added another of the sentiments included in the stamp set.

Flying By With A Birthday Hi

Today I am sharing a Birthday Slimline Card I created recently.

For my card I used Trinity Stamps Slimline Wonky Stitched Wilderness die set for the base of the card. I added sponged clouds to the blue portion of the card.

I created the grass/hills using border dies from Honey Bee Stamps Horizon Slimline Borders die set.

The houses and trees are from Lawn Fawn's Happy Village Stamp set.

The hot air balloons are from a Clearly Besotted/SSS STAMPtember 2018 stamp set.

I added a sentiment using Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Sky's the Limit stamp set.

For the inside of the card I used dies from Kat Scrappiness' Wonky Stitched Nesting Slimline Die set. I added a sentiment using Catherine Pooler Designs Say It In Diamonds stamp set. I also added two more hot air balloons using the Clearly Besotted Stamp set.

Driving By To Say

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a birthday themed Slimline card that I created recently. This Slimline card measures 3 5/8" x 8 5/8".

I created the background for my card using Trinity Stamps Slimline Stitched Card Panels and Windows. I used the largest Slimline rectangle die included in the set to die cut a panel from white and green cardstock. I blended Distress Oxide inks in Tumbled Glass; Broken China & Faded Jeans onto the top of the white panel. I cut the green panel to approximately 5 1/2" and adhered it to the bottom of the white rectangle panel.

I used Kat Scrappiness Slimline Cityscape die set to create the city which I adhered above the grass.

I used one of the borders from Lawn Fawn's Road Border die set to trace my road as I needed something wider than the road border die. After adhering it to the background, I die cut the road border from white cardstock and used the white strips that fall out of the die cut to add to the road.

I used MFT Stamps Carpool die set to create the car, and used the man and woman from the Old Friends stamp set to add to inside of the car. 

I added two trees from Lawn Fawn's Tree Before 'n Afters stamp set to add the trees.

The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Car Critters Christmas Add-on stamp set, die cutting it using Honey Bee Stamps Banner Builders die set.

For the inside of the card I added some green cardstock grass to the bottom of the card, die cutting the grass from Trinity Stamps Slimline The Great Outdoors die set.

I added the birthday sentiment to the top portion of the card which is from Mama Elephant. 

 

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Today I am sharing a Christmas card I created. I recently received an order I placed for a couple of Slimline dies from Kat Scrappiness. I had been looking forward to receiving the Cityscape Slimline die set, so of course I wanted to play. As I wanted to do something different to what I have seen created with this die set, I decided to create a Christmas card.

I used the largest rectangle die from Lawn Fawn's Large Slimline with Sliders die set to die cut the base panel for my card.  I then used Distress Oxide inks in various shades of blue (colors included in supply list below), masking a circle for the moon. After I had blended all the inks, I then splattered the background using white paint.

I die cut the Slimline Cityscape die set from black and yellow cardstock and layered them together. I adhered this to the bottom of the blue background panel.

I added Santa's Sleigh and Reindeer die which is an older Cheery Lynn Designs die. 

To finish off the front of the card, I added the sentiment which is from The Ton's Easy Expressions - Holiday stamp/die set.

For the inside of the card, I added the Santa's Sleigh and Reindeer to the top portion of the card.

I added a border along the bottom of the card which is from Lawn Fawn's Slimline Stitched Hillside Borders die set.

I added the two sentiments to the centre of the card. The first is from Mama Elephant's Santa's Sleigh stamp set, the second is from MFT Stamps Bitty Holiday Wishes stamp set.

Hello, You Always Make Me Smile

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog.  As challenge hostess for the month, I finish off the month with one last challenge.

According to the Days of the Year Calendar, September is Mushroom Month. So for our challenge this week, include one or more mushrooms either stamped or die cut on your creation.

I had hope to use one of Hello Bluebird's Slimline dies that have mushrooms included in the dies. These were released 1st August and I ordered straight away, but unfortunately due to COVID19 mail to Australia is SLOW!!!!! So it was plan B for me for this challenge, hopefully they will turn up soon.

EDIT ... Guess what arrived today, the day of the challenge ... my Mushroom Slimline dies I had wanted to use for the challenge LOL! At least they are here now and I will definitely be playing with them soon.

I did at least create a Slimline card, my favorite option right now. I used Slimline dies from Kat Scrappiness called Wonky Stitched Nesting Slimline dies, which did finally show up after a detour to Japan. Yes my dies seem to have fun travelling the world right now haha! 

Along the bottom of the card I added grass using the Wonky Stitched Nesting Slimline die and MFT Stamps Slimline Grassy Hills Die-namics. I added three rows of grass, adding shading to each of the tops of the grass.

To decorate my card, I used MFT Stamps Always Make Me Smile stamp set. I stamped all the images and used my Scan N Cut to cut out all the images and then added them all to the card to create the scene.

I added a die cut sentiment from The Stamp Marker called Hello Serif and then underneath this added a stamped sentiment which is from the stamp set I used on the card.

For the inside of the card I added borders to the right and left edges using Pinkfresh Studio's Slim Lacey Edgers die set.

I created a double pop up card using Karen Burniston's Katherine  Label Pop-up die set to which I stamped sentiments from Catherine Pooler Designs Say It In Diamonds stamp set.

February 2019 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Welcome to our February Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is .... "LOVE, SWEET LOVE!" - let's add a twist to our usual February love cards and add . . . chocolate! Incorporate a chocolate element into the card.

For  my card today I used the new Hearts Pivot Panels die set.

For some time now I have been debating about buying the Kat Scrappiness Layered Chocolate Bar and each time I add it to the cart, I end up backing out. Well once I saw the chocolate portion of this challenge, I knew it was about time I check out and get this stamp set in my hands and I am so glad I did. This chocolate bar looks so real!

I added two of the chocolate bars to the left and right hand corners of the card and I cut up a few to single pieces to add to the Heart Pivot Panels die and around the sentiment.

The chocolate sentiment on the lower right hand corner of the card is an old retired stamp set from MFT Stamps I have had in my stash for years. I layered the sentiment onto a rectangle panel using a rectangle die cut using the Crosshatch Rectangles die set. This rectangle is actually a larger rectangle, but I carefully put the rectangle back into the die to shorted the height of the rectangle. I also trimmed part of the edge so that the rectangle fitted in the corner easily.

Here is a close up of the Heart Pivot Panels section of my card. I alternated some polka dot hearts and chocolate in the large heart areas of the panel.

I also added a border using the Border Blends -- Party die set.

Here you can see an overhead view of my card.

For the front of the card I added a few more individual chocolate pieces to the bottom of an oval which was die cut using the Crosshatch Ovals die set. I also added some chocolate to the hands of the cute monster from Concord & 9th's Monster Love stamp set. 

Along the bottom of the oval I added the XOXO sentiment which is from the Word Set 9 - Love die set and layered using the fishtail banner from the Upsy Daisy Pop-up die set.

To finish off the front of the card I added a border to the top and bottom of the card using the Border Blends - Party die set.
