Scraps Make Quilts

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a card I created using stamps, dies and papers from Divinity Designs. Some of the stamps and dies are from the October release.

I created an A2 card using the A2 Card Base with Layer and Matting Rectangle die sets. 

To create the quilted square on the top of my card I used the new Flower Petal Quilt die which I die four times from papers included in the Pretty Pink Peonies Paper Collection. This was layered to the A2 Cross Stitch Background which I die cut from white cardstock. I layered the cross stitch panel to pink paper from the patterned paper collection.

I added a sentiment from the Jesus is the Stitch stamp set to the centre of the quilt square which I die cut using the Double Stitched Circles and Circles die sets.

To finish off the front of the card I need a needle which is from the Embroidery Hoop Set. I couldn't find my embroidery thread, so I added some twine through the needle instead.

For the inside of the card, I added a scrap of patterned paper along the bottom of the card. I also added another of the sentiments from the Jesus is the Stitch stamp set.

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Rebecca Ednie, our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

This week Rebecca has requested that we create a card using the color combo of white, ivory and gold. That is all the colors we can use.

As you can see I created a Slimline card, I recently ordered a few of the newer Spellbinders Slimline dies and I received them last week, so I decided to pull out the Kaleidoscope Argyle die set to create the decorative portion of my slimline card. I die cut the three argyle layering pieces from ivory, gold and white cardstock, the frame around the argyle pieces was die cut from gold pearlescent cardstock. I die cut the slimline panel using the rectangle die included in the Blossoming Slimline die set which I then embossed using the Diagonal Stripes Slimline Embossing Folder.

For the sentiment I used one of the hot foil stamps and dies from Spellbinders More Sentiments Hot Glimmer set, hot foiling the sentiment using gold foil and then using one of the sentiment label dies to die cut the sentiment from white cardstock.

I layered the decorated ivory rectangle panel to gold cardstock and then to a top folding slimline ivory card that measures 3 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches.

For the inside of the card I created a pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up die set. For the sentiment I used one of the sentiments included in the  Spellbinders Essential Glimmer Sentiments Hot Foil Glimmer plate set, foiling again with gold foil. I then die cut the sentiment using another sentiment label die.

For the borders along the top and bottom edges of my card I used one of the slimline border dies from Scrapbook.com's Slim Borders die set to die cut the gold pearlescent borders.

I added two more of the argyle layered shapes to each side of the base of the card.

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a floral Slimline card I created. 

This card was mostly created using a stencil from Simon Says Stamp's Slimline Floral Builder stencil. This stencil includes the lawn, the cloud builder and flowers. I used Distress Oxide inks in various colors to create my floral scene.

I used one of the rectangle slimline dies from Spellbinders Slimline Hemstitch die set to die cut the floral panel. I then used the larger slimline dies included in the die set to die cut the pink panel which I layered onto a top folding slimline card base.

I stamped butterflies onto my card using a solid butterfly stamp from Lawn Fawn's Mom + Me stamp set.

For the sentiment I used Pinkfresh Studio's Perfect Sentiments - Birthday Hot Foil Stamp & coordinating die to add the "Hello" which is foiled using black foil.

For the inside of the card, I added the "Thinking of You" sentiment using Honey Bee Stamps Thinking of You Big Time stamp set and coordinating dies.

I added the grass and some flowers along the bottom of the card.

Balloon Birthday Wishes

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce our new challenge hostess, which is ME!

Apparently 5th October was Balloons Around The World Day, for our challenge this week include a balloon or balloons on your card.

For my card today I decided to pull out a few older stamps and dies to create my card.

 I adhered blue paper from Lawn Fawn's Watercolor Wishes 12 x 12 paper pad to create the background of my card.

I wanted to use a large balloon for the front of my card, so I pulled out my Elizabeth Craft Designs A Way With Words Big Balloon die set. I die cut the balloon from patterned paper from a Honey Bee Stamps paper pad. I added the birthday sentiment to the top of the balloon.

For the grass I used MFT Stamps Tucked in Turf Vertical die which is the perfect size for a portrait style slimline card.

Finally I pulled out Eureka Stamps Girl Balloon Holder stamp to add to the bottom of the card.

I created a Double Pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up. For the top pop up I added balloons using a die set from Lawn Fawn, die cut from the same patterned paper I used for the balloon on the front of the card.

The girl is another balloon holder stamp from Eureka Stamps.

I added a balloon themed sentiment which is from a Unity stamp set, this is layered using oval dies from Hero Arts.

Christmas Gnomies

Today I am sharing a Gnome themed Christmas card I created recently.

Recently I have seen a lot of Bay Window Cards online, as I like creating different styles of cards of course I have to make one. My Bay Window card measures 5 inches x 7 inches, this gives me plenty of room to create my scene.

To create my card I cut two white panels of card that measure 5 inches x 7 inches.. I then score along the 7 inch side of one of the panels at 1/2"; 2 1/2"; 4 1/2" and 6 1/2". The decorate panels are all 1 3/4" x 6 3/4".

I used the Long Nature Edges die to die cut snow from white glitter cardstock which I added to each of the 1 3/4" wide panels.

To decorate my card, I used Stampendous' Slim Winter Gnomes stamp. This is a slimline style stamp, but cutting around the groupings or using selective masking I was able to cut out groups and individual gnomes.

For the sentiment, I white embossed a gnome themed Christmas sentiment using the Picket Fence Studios A Gnome Christmas stamp set.

For the inside of the card, I added a square panel to which I added another of the gnomes and two more sentiments from the Picket Fence Studios stamp set.

Here is a look at the card when it is fully open.

This card folds flat so it can be placed in an envelope.

October 2021 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

 

Welcome to our October Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is ...  "HAUNTED!" - make a Halloween card.>For my card today I created my Halloween card using the Bitty Ball Pop-up and Character Add-ons 1 die sets to create a vampire. 

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

To create the Vampire on the right side of the card, I used the Bitty Ball Pop-up and Character Add-Ons 1 die sets. I used the hands from the Halloween Elements die set to add hands to my vampire.

My finished card is 5 inches by 7 inches adding the flap die from the Flap and Closure die set to the far right of my card.

To decorate the left side of the inside of my card I used Halloween Scene; Halloween Elements and Halloween Charms die sets.

Here is a close up photo of my Vampire. I used cardstock from the Exact Pack 5 Character Add-ons 1 card pack which includes the colors you need to create either the vampire or pumpkin. I did used grey cardstock instead of the flesh included in the pack to all the flesh portions of the vampire.

The vampire is attached to the card using a brad, so it can swivel around. Here is a view of the vampire facing to the left.

For the front of the card I added a plain panel of orange cardstock. Along the bottom edge of the card I added a green piece of cardstock that had been die cut using one of the dies included in the Long Nature Edges die set.

For the moon I used a circle from the Crosshatch Circles die set, sponging grey ink around the edge of the circle.

I die cut two fences using the Iron Fence Pop-up die set, trimming off both edges and joining together.

The bat is from the Halloween Scene die set and finally the Halloween Sentiment using the Happy Halloween die set.

Swimming By To Say

Today I am sharing a beach themed Slimline Card I created recently.

I was going through some of the unused stamps sitting on my desk, when I discovered this fun Hello Bluebird Come On In stamp set which I hadn't used as yet. I figured it was about time I got it out to play with, so I created this card.

I used Hello Bluebird's Ocean Waves Scene Vertical Slimline Die to create the background of my card. I die cut the slimline die from white cardstock and then used Distress Oxide inks and blending brushes to color the various panels.

I added the sentiment combining two Lawn Fawn stamp sets ... Keep on Swimming and Scootin' By stamp sets. The sentiment is actually straight on the card but it looks slightly crooked because of the curve of the panel it is on.

For the inside of the card I used the same slimline die I used for the front to add some sand and ocean to the bottom portion of the card and sky to the top.

I added two more of the images and beach ball to the panel.

For the sentiments I used the "It's Your Birthday" sentiment from MFT Stamps Bitty Birthday Wishes stamp set and the "Relax and Soak up the Sun" sentiment from MFT Stamps Sunshine & Friendship stamp set.

 

Friends So Deer

Today I have a Christmas card to share with you using stamps from Hero Arts and Hello Bluebird.

To create my card I stamped Hero Arts Birch Forest Background onto white cardstock using Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide ink. I used a rectangle die to die cut the panel and adhered it to a top folding A2 card.

I used Lawn Fawn's Stitched Hillside Border dies to die cut to snowy hills from white glitter cardstock and added that to the bottom of the rectangle panel.

For the deers I used two stamps from Hello Bluebird's Rooftop Reindeer stamp set. The sentiment is also from that stamp set.

For the inside of my card I added another of the reindeer and a sentiment from the Hello Bluebird stamp set.

Catch a Falling Star

t’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month, it's time to introduce a new challenge hostess which is Rebecca Ednie.

For our challenge this week, Rebecca has asked us to be inspired by your favourite song to create your project. Please be sure to list the song with your entry. You can be inspired by the title, the lyrics, the overall theme or genre of the song. 

I thought it might take me ages to decide which song to chose for this challenge, but then the song "Catch a Falling Star" came to mind. So I decided to use that for my card today. I also remembered a stamp I had in my stash of a girl holding a star, that I have had for years and surprise it is actually called Catch a Falling Star. Of course with the sentiment on the clouds ... I could even have gone with When You Wish Upon a Star.

I could see this girl holding the star and surrounded by stars and clouds. 

I created a Mini Slimline card using the Whimsy Stamps Slimline Stars Background and Slimline Clouds dies. I die cut the Star background from Pearlescent Blue Cardstock, and then layered this onto yellow cardstock that had Clear Double Sided Tape on the front. I then covered the exposed adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.

I created a frame using Trinity Stamps Mini Slimline Stitched Stack die set and adhered over the star background using foam tape. I trimmed out a few of the clouds from the Whimsy Stamps Slimline Clouds die set and adhered them behind the frame.

I stamped the Stampassions "Catch a Falling Star" image and cut her out and added that to the centre of my card.

For the sentiment I used Lawn Fawn's Upon A Star stamp set. 

I adhered this panel to a side folding Mini Slimline card that measures 3 1/4 inches x 6 1/4 inches.

For the inside of the card I created a Double Pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop up die set. As this card is narrower than normal, I decided to trim down the pop-up mechanism a little before adding to my card.

For the background of my card, I used Whimsy Stamps Speckled Star Stencil blending with Sauna Ink from Catherine Pooler Designs.

I added a border from Scrapbook.com's Slimline Border die set.

I added the girl with the star to the top pop-up and the cloud with the birthday sentiment to the bottom sentiment. The sentiment is from Divinity Designs Super Star stamp set which was from their January 2021 Blessings Box.

I have a floral Slimline card to share with you today using stamps, dies and papers from Divinity Designs.

 I used the Slimline Card Base, Slimline Rectangles and Slimline Pierced Rectangles die sets to create the slimline portion of my card. 

To add some texture to the pink background panel, I used the Lattice Embossing Folder.

The sentiment is from the Let's Celebrate stamp set, layering the sentiment using the Double Stitched Ovals and Ovals die sets.

To decorate the card I used the flowers from the Beautiful Blossoms Paper/Die Duo Set 2.

For the inside of my card I added another sentiment from the Let's Celebrate stamp set. I also added a few more of the flowers from the Beautiful Blossoms Paper/Die Duo Set 2.
