Fa-Boo-Lous Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Happy Halloween, today I am sharing a Halloween themed birthday card I created recently using mostly products from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Turn and Reveal Collection.

As this is a birthday card for my daughter who was born before Halloween I decided to use ghosts on my card rather than a witch, vampire or bats which are included in Sam's collection. I know my daughter is happy getting a Halloween themed card, but decided to play safe. The ghosts are from an older die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs which is no longer available.

Here is a quick video to show my card in action.

For my card today I created a Turn and Reveal Card using Sam's Turn and Reveal die set which was released in August. I also used dies from the Easy Edges and Halloween Icons die sets, as well as stamps from the Spooky Fun, Haunting Times and Halloween Sentiments stamp/die sets.

I added Elizabeth Craft Designs Black Glitter to the haunted house to help make it stand out a little from the black grass area on the bottom of the card. I also die cut the trees using the Easy Edges die set to add along the front of the acetate panel at the top of the card.

For the inside of the card, I added another of the Halloween themed sentiments included in the Halloween Sentients stamp set. I also added the Happy Birthday from Honey Bee Stamps Gear Up stamp set.

I stamped the two bats from the Haunting Times stamp/die set to finish off my card.

Yabba Dabba Doo Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Lynn McAuley our challenge hostess for the month finishes off the month with one last challenge.

Tomorrow (28th October), is International Animation Day. What joyful and action-packed entertainment has filled our lives through the talented creations of the world's amazing animators. In honor of these animators' remarkable work, choose one of your favorite animated characters to feature on this week's CCEE design. How fabulous would it be if you included the name of the animator who created your character!

Back in June I saw a card created by someone that featured this stamp set from Paper Nest Dolls called Stone Age Family ... I loved the card and stamps so I had to order it. Mail is slow these days from the USA to Australia and when they hadn't turned up after two months I contacted the store. Apparently there had been a mix up which was quickly correctly, I just hoped they would arrive in time for this challenge which they did as you can see! I am not sure about you, but I know I spent lots of happy hours as a kid watching The Flintstones by Hanna Barbera Productions.

For my card today I decided to create a Double Slider Card using Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Square Double Slider die set. The fun thing about this die set compared to other Double Slider die sets out there, is that you have the option of included 1, 2, 3 or 4 sliders to the card. As you can see by the photo above, I included two sliders one on either side of the main square panel.

Not only does this stamp set come with all the characters including Dino, it also includes their house. I added the house and three of the characters to the main centre panel onto some patterned paper also from Made To Surprise. I computer generated the sentiment at the top of the card, as I wanted something to fit the theme of this card.

I added the two kids to the left pull put panel.

The last two characters are revealed when you pull out the right pull out panel.

This die set also includes a stand to attach to the back of the card so the card can be displayed upright. This is also a good place to add another sentiment and hand write a personal greeting. I added a sentiment and image from Heffy Doodles Prehistoric Pals stamp set, which I thought worked well with this theme.

One last photo to show how the card is displayed using the attached stand at the back. This does fold flat for mailing. The finished card measures approximately 5 1/2 inch high x 6 3/4 inches wide. Of course if you added the extra pull out panels to the top and/or bottom of the card that would change the size again.

Flowering Cactus

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have a 5 x 7 birthday card to share with you today. For some reason, I am attracted to cacti themed stamps and dies and a few months ago I spied this beautiful stamp set. I was lucky that I found it on the Craft Stash website and as I was placing an order, I added this to my cart.

This cactus stamp set is from Memory Box and includes the two cacti images, two butterflies and seven beautiful sentiments. As you can see the main image is a fairly large image and fits a 5 x 7 card well. I stamped the cacti onto white cardstock and cut it out so I could layer it onto my card.

I have a few new birthday sentiment stamp sets that I just love so I used one for my card today. This uses the Essential Birthday Sentiments from LDRS Creative.

As you can see, I created a pop-up on the inside of my card using my favourite Katherine Label Pop-up die set. I only used the mechanism from this set as I decided there was so much space inside the 5 x 7 card, that I could add a larger label. I used the two large labels from the Labels - Crosshatch die set.

I added another birthday sentiment from the LDRS Creative stamp set and added the smaller cacti and another butterfly to the label.

Noel Double Z Fold Card

Hi Crafty Friends,

In case you didn't know already, it's now only two months until Christmas! Wow this year is definitely flying by!

Last month I shared a Shaped Card using Crafter's Companion's Noel die set and the coordinating Poinsettia Delights Paper Pad and dies. As the paper pad has 48 pages of the decoupage poinsettias that decorate the "NOEL" word, I decided last month that I need to use this set at least once a month this year to add Christmas cards to my stash. So for my card today I created a Double Z Fold Card.

The papers used as layers on my card are from Crafter's Companion's Frosty & Bright 12 x 12 Paper Pad. I will be using this a bit this year too, I just love the papers in this pad. Unfortunately I couldn't find a link to this product for my supply list below.

I used Crafter's Companion's Baby Pink Glitter Card to die cut the "NOEL" letters to layer over the white outline.

In the "Noel" Collection, there is also a stamp set that you can use to stamp and colour the flowers however you like and some sentiments. I decided not to use that for this particular card, instead I pulled out an older Penny Black stamp set called Season's Gifts. I also added a few of the smaller poinsettia layers around my sentiment.

Here is a look at my card, when it is folded ready to be placed in an envelope. The base of the Double Z Fold Card is 5 3/4 inches square, however because the "NOEL" word hangs over both edges the finished card size is approximately 7 1/4 inches wide x 5 3/4 inches high.

Gnoel

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a gnome themed Christmas card that I have created.

I used the Made to Surprise By Sam Catcott's 5 x 7 Side Panel die set from her latest Showstopper Collection to create the base of my card. For this card I created the card as a single side panel card, but you can make a few different styles of "Showstopper" cards by die cutting two of the card bases and adhering them together. This card fold flat and will fit in a 5 x 7 envelope.

To decorate my card, I have used Spellbinder's Gnome Tree die set. I die cut the gnomes from white, green and red cardstock and pieced them together which means I was able to make two gnome trees. I have put the other aside for another card at some point.

I used Karen Burniston's Alphabet die set to add the "GNOEL" sentiment down the right panel off the card.

To finish off the card I added some stars which I die cut from gold glitter cardstock using a star die from the Creative Craft Products Star Perfect Flips die set.

For the back of the card, I added a couple more panels to use for a sentiment and a personal greeting.

I added two sentiments from Picket Fence Studio's A Christmas Gnome stamp set on the panel on the right.

For the panel on the left I added another gnome, die cut using the Gnome Tree die and some stars.

Get Whale Soon

Hi Crafty Friends,

I am sharing a Get Well themed Mini Slimline Shaker card that I created recently. I actually went whale watching on Wednesday with a group of friends. The water was a bit rough but we managed to see a mama whale with her calf and boyfriend.

For my card today I used Trinity Stamps Whale Done stamp set and also the Shimmering Sea Hot Foil Stamp. I hot foiled the Shimmering Sea Hot Foil Plat onto blue cardstock using Cobalt Blue Hot Foil and then blended blue Distress Oxide inks around the edge.

To create the frame for my card, I used Pinkfresh Studio's Mini Slimline Frame die set, die cutting the frame from both white and blue cardstock and layering them together to create the area for my shaker. I added two shades of blue sequins to the centre of my shaker card.

I added the whale and sentiment to the outside of the acetate.

For the inside of my card, I added one of the inner panels left over from die cutting the frame. I stamped another whale themed sentiment from the Whale Done stamp set as well as the water that spouts from the whale.

Roarsome

 Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Lynn McAuley our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Reptiles – Apparently October 21 is National Reptile Day. Be sure your card this week features the reptile of your choice: an alligator, a lizard, a turtle, a snake, a dinosaur! Or include them all! You choose!

I have purchased a few dinosaur stamps and dies in the past few months, so this was the perfect opportunity to get a few of them to create my card today.

For my card I used dies from Whimsy Stamps, the dinosaurs are from a die set called Roaring and the setting is from a die set called Roamsome. I also used papers from Whimsy Stamps Lost in Space Slimline Paper Pad for the background of my card. My slimline card measures 3 3/4 inches x 8 3/4 inches.

For the inside of my card I added a purple border along the bottom edge of my card using a slimline die from Honey Bee Stamps. I also added two more of the dinosaur images. to my card.

To finish off my card I added a dinosaur themed sentiment using a sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh's Dinosaur Friends Stamp set and the "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from Spellbinders Birthday UnBoxing Stamp set.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Make A Splash

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Slimline card using products mostly from Hello Bluebird. I love their Slimline Scene dies, so when a few more were released in August I had to add them to my collection.

For this card I have used Hello Bluebird's Ocean Floor Slimline Scene die along with the Sea Friends stamp set.  I love how easy it is to create a scene using these products.

For the inside of my card, I created a pop-up using Karen Burniston's Mini Pops Pop-up die set. I added the two pop-ups on either side of the card to pop-up the narwhal and mermaid.

I used elements from the Ocean Floor Slimline Scene die to add the rocks, seaweed and coral to my card. I also uses the Sea Friends stamp set. to add the different sea creatures.

For the sentiment I added two sentiments using Your Next Stamp's Little Darling Mermaid stamp set. I wanted a birthday sentiment and the sentiment seemed to work with the one on the front. of the card.

Here is another view of the inside of my card, this time taken at a different angle so you can see the pop-up portion of the card a little better.

Butterfly Opulence Lattice Fold

Hi Crafty Friends,

Thanks for dropping by my blog today, I have a fun lattice fold card to share with you all.

This card uses the Opulence Lattice Folding die from Crafter's Companion. My card is inspired by a card I recently saw created by Astrid Ewing.

This card is fairly large being just under 7 inches tall and measures 7 3/4 inches when folded or 11 3/4 inches when fully extended.

I had originally planned on using a different patterned paper, but my card ended up being higher than I expected and the 6 inch square paper didn't fit, so as I already had the base of my card done I had to search for a paper that suited the colored base.

I added a birthday sentiment using one of the sentiments included in MFT Stamps Inside & Outside Birthday Greetings stamp set. I finished the card, by adding three butterflies using Spellbinders Delicate Butterflies die set.

I adhered some holographic cardstock behind the lattice panels for some added interest.

I added a panel to the back of my card for a place to add a birthday sentiment from the same sentiment set I used on the front. I also added a couple of flower images which I cut from the leftover pattern paper.

Happy B-Day

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a 6 x 6 Gatefold Shutter card using Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Effortless 6 x 6" Shutter Card die set. I have made Gatefold Shutter Cards in A5 (Australian Size); A2 (USA Size) and Slimline Size, but I believe this is the first 6 x 6 version I have made. And now I have the die set, it won't be the last!

Over recent months, I have made a couple of Paddington themed cards using stamp sets. I finally got my hands on the paper pad which is also available which includes patterned papers and toppers, so for my card today I made use of this.

Here you can see the front of my card with the belly band removed, the dies to create the belly band are also included in the die set.

Here the card is partially opened, starting to reveal the sentiment which is hidden behind the shutters.

Finally the full reveal, I used a birthday sentiment from LDRS Creative's Essential Birthday Sentiments stamp set for my sentiments on this card.

I added a panel to the back of the card so that I could add another birthday sentiment and some more Paddington images. There is also plenty of room here to write a personal greeting when I am ready to send this card to someone.
